Here are some students' New Year's resolutions of 2016.

Hi, my name is Selina. I'm going to do my best at school. I'm going to finish my homework on time. If I need some help with a subject, I'm going to ask my teacher for help.

My name is Dave. I'm going to eat fruit and vegetables every day. I'm going to drink more water and milk. I'm also going to brush my teeth after meals every day.

My name is Tina. I'm going to meet more people and make more friends this year. I'm also going to be friendly to other kids in my class. I'm going to be friendly to kids who need friends—like someone who is shy or new.

I'm Tony. I'll never give out personal information such as my name, home address, school name and telephone number on the Internet. Also, I'll never send a picture of myself to someone or talk with someone online(在网上).

Last year, he s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} up a special website for the disabled children. At first, he met many difficulties. However, he worked them out quickly. He also called up more helpers to join the program. They spent{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(数个) hours with the children every week and taught them how to take care of themselves. Many parents feel e{#blank#}6{#/blank#}because they can't imagine their children can study like normal children. 

"W{#blank#}7{#/blank#}Tom's website, the program would be unable to have enough helpers to help us. I get such a strong feeling of satisfaction (满意)" one of the program {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(主人) says. 

"I feel happy to teach those children how to study. The happiest thing is that I can also{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(发展) myself and it can make my dream come{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(实现)." Tom says.

The name of my best friend is Joyce. She cares about me a lot. She always helps me. I met her in Class 6 and became best friend. She is my true friend because she understands me very well and cares about my every need. I like her very much. I never had any friends like her ever before. She comes to my home and I also go to her home. Our parents respect(尊重) us very much and like our friendship. She is so important to me that I never want to lose her. Whenever I get absent(缺席的) from the class, she helps me do all the left homework and classwork. She is similar to me in many ways. She never argues with me. She is an open-minded girl and never feels bad about my misbehaviour. She is very funny and makes me laugh through her interesting jokes and talks in our spare time. She is very cute and attractive. And she draws everyone's attention by her smile. She always encourages me to do better in class and exams. We are good at sports and academic activities. We manage to share things in difficult times. We always perform better in class tests and main exams. 

Every girl dreams and Lisa is no exception. She has read dozens of books on how to be a ballerina(芭蕾舞女演员). "Swan Lake" is her favorite. She hopes one day her dream will come true. She has taken ballet lessons and all her teachers are sure she is a good student.

One day she saw a poster that a famous ballerina group will be performing in her hometown. Confidence filled her heart and she was so excited. Her thoughts soon ran wild. "I must meet up with the leader of the group and show him my skills," she whispered to herself. When the troupe(舞团) arrived, Lisa put on her ballet outfit(芭蕾舞装) and hid in the dressing room. To her luck, the leader entered and she timidly(胆怯地) knocked at the door. She bravely approached him and handed him a bunch of red roses. The thorns(刺) hurt her hand but she did not care about the pain. The leader watched her action as she told him her dream. "Alright, you dance and then I will give you my conclusion." But half way through the dance he stopped her and said, "I'm sorry you're not good enough!" On hearing this Lisa ran as fast as her legs could carry her and was upset. She decided to give up her dream.

Many years later, she heard that the same ballet troupe was performing in her town again. Bitter memories of the leader's unfriendly words came flooding back to her. This time she decided to find out why the leader had told her she was not good enough. This was his reply, "I tell this to every student." Then she got a further shock from the leader, "I remember your gift of roses and how the thorns had hurt your fingers but you carried on bravery. If you had treated ballet like that and did not give up so easily, therefore, you still deserve my conclusion!"

Mrs. Brown lives on a farm. Every day she gets up early and then starts her 1 : watering the plants, cleaning the yard(院子) and feeding the animals. Her husband, Mr. Brown usually makes her some bread and eggs for 2 . But today Mr. Brown isn't 3 in the kitchen and there is no food on the table.

" Tom!" Mrs. Brown calls her husband. There is no answer. She goes out and calls her4 . " Max!" But it doesn't 5 . Then Mrs. Brown goes to the yard and tries to 6 the dog. There is nothing.

" What is happening?" She is a bit 7 . She runs to check the cows. But there are no cows. Mrs. Brown looks around and finds no other 8 . " Where are my pigs and my horse?" she thinks.

 Then Mrs. Brown hears a noise behind the house. She runs to the back to 9 . Everyone is there: Mr. Brown, Max, the cows, the pigs and the horse.

"SURPRISE!" Mr. Brown holds a birthday cake and says 10 to Mrs. Brown, " this is today's breakfast for you, dear! Happy birthday!"
