Tom，Dick and Sam are all middle school students in New York.This summer holiday，they went to visit their uncle in London by air.Their uncle and aunt were very glad to see them.

On the first day，Tom said to his uncle， "Uncle John，my boys.Let me give you some advice.I have a farm.I farm.I will take you there to have a look.After that，I think you will have an idea."

The farm is very big.Their uncle grew rice，vegetables and a lot of flowers on it.Their aunt showed them her cows，sheep and ducks.The children were very happy to see all these things.Then Tom was going to learn how to plant the vegetables.Dick wanted to learn how to plant the flowers.And Sam was going to learn how to feed the ducks.

They worked hard on the farm.And they were learning fast.A few days later，they could do the work all by themselves.When the holiday ended，the boys had to go home.Their uncle gave them three big boxes.He said "Boys，you work very well here.Here are some presents for you.I think you will like them."

After they got home，they opened the boxes.There were some nice vegetables in two boxes and in the third one，there were four big fat ducks.

It's 6:00 p. m. Kate's family are having dinner. There is rice, eggs, salads, strawberries and some vegetables like tomatoes, onions and carrots on the table. But Kate doesn't like vegetables. She doesn't want to eat them and puts her bo wl away.

" Kate," says her father.

" Where are my hamburgers?" asks Kate.

" Don't think about them. We need to eat healthily," says Mom.

" How about some ice- cream, then?" asks Kate.

" Kate," Dad calls her name again. He thinks the dinner is nice.

Kate takes a bite(咬一口) of the tomato and quickly spits(吐出) it back into the bowl.

" Kate! Room! Now!" says Dad. He doesn't like her bad eating habits.

Kate runs to her room and cries, but she soon stops. Usually, her parents will get her some other food she likes if she doesn't eat dinner. So she waits.

At about 7:00 p. m., Mom tries to get Kate to eat some vegetables, but she says no.

At 9:00 p. m., Kate wants to eat something, but her parents still don't give her anything to eat.

At 10:00 p. m., Kate goes to the kitchen and sees some vegetables on the table. They don't look so bad. And you know what? They don't taste so bad, either.

Kate learns that she should eat health y food and live a healthy life.

① On April 25, 2024, China successfully sent the Shenzhou-18 spaceship with three astronauts to Tiangong space station for a six- month mission (任务). Among the three astronauts, Ye Guangfu is the mission commander (指挥官), with rich experience. 

② Ye was born in Septembe, 1980 and grew up in a small village in Sichuan. At the age of eight, his father died. Ye remembered how difficult it was for his family to make a living. Although it seemed impossible for him to try out to become an air force pilot at first, his love for flying and hard work got him into the Air Force Aviation University of China. 

③ In 2009, Ye decided to reach even higher and applied to (申请) be an astronaut. Becoming an astronaut, one must face many challenges. Ye even trained in caves (洞穴) in Europe where he had to find his way through dark and wet caves. This made him the first Chinese person to finish this training. Ye never gave up his dream. And his hard work paid off when he made his first journey into space on the Shenzhou-13 mission on October 16, 2021. 

④ Ye is always thankful for all the difficult times because they help him keep going and stick to(坚持) his dreams. Ye is really a role model who shows us the importance of strong perseverance (毅力). 

Helen is a good student at school. Her {#blank#}1{#/blank#} subjects are science and math. The teachers ask{#blank#}2{#/blank#} , "What do you want to be in the future(未来)?" She always says, "I love science and I want to be a scientist(科学家) like Albert Einstein."

 Helen has a friend at school. Her name is Anna. They are in the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} class, so they are classmates, too. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the two girls have science and math. They are easy for Helen, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Anna isn't good at them. So Helen helps Anna with science and math for a(n) {#blank#}5{#/blank#} every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

 Helen has a computer. It is {#blank#}6{#/blank#} her uncle. She really likes studying(学习) science and math on the computer. She can learn a lot of new {#blank#}7{#/blank#} about the two subjects from the computer.

 In fact, Helen does {#blank#}8{#/blank#} in all school subjects. Everyday when she gets home from school, she always{#blank#}9{#/blank#} her homework first. She says, "Studying science and math on the computer is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} . But homework is more important(更重要的)."

 Arriving in Sydney on his own from India, my husband, Rashid, stayed in a hotel for a short time while looking for a house for me and our children.

 During the first week of his stay, he went out one day to do some shopping. He came back in the late afternoon to discover that his suitcase was gone. He was extremely worried as the suitcase had all his important papers, including his passport.

 He reported the case to the police and then sat there, lost and lonely in a strange city, thinking of the terrible troubles of getting all the paperwork organized again from a distant country while trying to settle down in a new one.

 Late in the evening, the phone rang. It was a stranger. He was trying to pronounce my husband's name and was asking him a lot of questions. Then he said they had found a pile of papers in their trash can(垃圾桶) that had been left out on the footpath.

 My husband rushed to their home to find a kind family holding all his papers and documents. Their young daughter had gone to the trash can and found a pile of unfamiliar papers. Her parents had carefully sorted them out, although they had found mainly foreign addresses on most of the documents. At last they had seen a half-written letter in the pile in which my husband had given his new telephone number to a friend.

 That family not only restored the important documents to us that day but also restored our faith and trust in people. We still remember their kindness and often send a warm wish their way.
