    I'm a student with different interests. I play football for Whitburn AFC at under 19 level, where I play as a right midfielder(中锋) which I enjoy very much. I like talking with many different kinds of friends. The cinema is a place where I go as often I can, as I am a huge movie lover. I like both action and other types of films.

    The thing I would say I do the most is listening to music. I like mainly rock music. However, my CD collection includes a wide selection(精选物) of music. With my interest in music I go to see my favourite bands when they come on tour.

    The Internet and computers are something I usually do with when I'm free, but I would not say it's my main interest in life. Traveling to many different countries is a great experience. I have been to Spain, Belgium, Holland, France and even England. I went to a little town in Spain last year just outside Barcelona. Anybody there hardly speaks English, however, I found that I can communicate with these people who speak a different language from me and I am still able to understand. Meeting people from abroad is very interesting.

    Do you like making friends with me?

    It is fun being a vet (兽医). I like it because although it is hard work, every day is different! It all depends on what is wrong with the animals that come in.

    At my clinic(诊所), I work long days on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and short days on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Sunday is my day off so I can spend some time with my family.

    My day at my clinic begins at 7 am. My clerk opens the door, turns on some music, and makes everyone a cup of tea or coffee. My assistant (助手) cleans and feeds the animals. The phones start to ring and people make appointments. This is a very busy time of day!

    At 9 am, pet owners start to arrive with their sick pets. Appointments take up the whole morning. At midday, I stop for two hours. I don't examine（检查）any new sick animals. I use these two hours to have lunch and do all my paperwork.

    At 2 pm. I start to see sick animals again. At 5 pm, three students from a local school who love animals arrive to help out. They are very kind and warm-hearted. I am always happy to see their smiling faces!

From 5 pm to 7pm, I continue to see sick animals. Then, at 7 pm, we close our doors and the clean-up begins! We tidy the clinic, and feed and clean the animals. Of course, we also stroke (轻抚) them and give them hugs! Then, we turn off the lights and go home. This is the type of day I want to have.

    I'm very happy being a vet, though unexpected things sometimes happen!

    My friend Tom is a schoolboy. Everyone likes him very much because he is kind. He likes to help people. He is a smart boy and he can play many musical instruments(乐器). After school, when he is with his friends, he often plays musical instruments for them. On weekends, he is free and he always goes to the old people's home. He plays the violin and the guitar to make them happy. He thinks it's interesting and fun.

    Today is February 28th. It's Tom's birthday. He has a big and interesting party at home. Many friends come to his party. Tom's mother cooks a lot of food for them. Everyone gives a beautiful gift to him. Sally gives him an English dictionary because Tom also likes English. Bob gives Tom a guitar because he likes playing the guitar very much. At the party, Tom plays the guitar and he also plays the piano. We sing many songs and play some interesting games. We have a good time today.

    Mary and Peter were having a picnic with some friends near a river when Mary shouted, "Look! That's a spaceship up there and it's going to land here. "

    Frightened by the strange spaceship, all the young people got into their cars and drove away as quickly as possible except Peter and Mary. They were more curious（好奇的）than frightened. They watched the spaceship land and saw a door open, but nobody came out, so they went to look into it. In the centre of the floor, there was a lot of food. Peter followed Mary into the spaceship and did not hear the door close behind him. The temperature fell in no time and very soon the two young people didn't know anything.

    When they came to, they were surprised to see that they were back by the river again. The spaceship had gone. Their car was nearby.

    "What happened?" asked Mary.

    Peter scratched（搔）his head, saying slowly, "Don't ask me. Perhaps we had a problem. Come on. It's time to go home."

    After driving about fifty metres, they found a thick wall made of something like glass stood in their way. On the other side of the wall, a few strange aliens were looking through the wall and reading a notice, which translated into（译成）English said, "New comers at the zoo, a pair of earth villagers in their house on wheels. "

    As the taxi leaves, my father stands at the living room window looking out, watching me move off into the darkness, at 4:30 a. m. His grey hair is untidy from sleeping.

    Moments ago, he got up to carry my bag for me and went into the cold open air.

    He thanked me for a daughter's cooking and for having traveled so far to spend the holiday with him. I told him that I worried about he would feel lonely again in the empty house.

    "I have my plans," he said, in the moments before I walked out the door.

    When I arrived 10 days ago, I felt it was quiet and lifeless in the house. Then my brothers and I came and filled the rooms. But, now, they're gone, I am the last to leave.

    As the taxi began to move, I watched the lights go off, but my father didn't leave. Even though he couldn't see me in the dark, he stood by the window watching, beside the tree. It was a fresh tree. He buys one every year for the new year.

    The life is hard for my father: my mother died years ago, and now his children are far from home, our selfish choices taking us from one end of the country to the other, the life of the tree, cut for Christmas, is short; my father's is long and strong. But both of them are tall and straight.

    I leave behind two trees: one with silver-grey hair, the other still freshly green.

    Tom is a good boy, but he cannot get up early. He often sleeps until nine or ten o'clock in the morning. His mother doesn't want him to be late for school. So she buys him an alarm clock. She says to him, "You must get up when you hear the clock ring" "Yes, Mum." Tom says. And from then on, Tom gets up when he hears the clock ring at six thirty every morning. One day his mother forgets to ring up the clock. And the next morning Tom doesn't get up at six thirty. It's time for breakfast. Mother goes to wake him up. Tom is in bed and his eyes are open. He says to his mother, "I wake up very early."

    "Then why don't you get up?" Mother asks.

"But," answers Tom, "You tell me that I must get up when I hear the clock ring. So I am now waiting for the clock ring."
