Twenty years ago, I drove a taxi for a living. One night, I went to pick up a passenger at 2:30 a. m. When I arrived at the place, I saw a small woman in her eighties standing before me. I took the woman's suitcase to the car and then returned to help her. She took my arm and we talked slowly toward the car.

    She kept thanking me for my kindness. "It's nothing," I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated."

    "Oh, you're such a good man," she said. When we got into the taxi, she gave me an address, and then asked." Could you drive me throughout the downtown?"

    "It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

    "Oh, I'm in no hurry," she said," I'm on my way to the hospice(收容所). I don't have any family left. The doctor says I don't have very long time." I quickly shut off the meter(计价器). For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked, and the neighbourhood where she had lived. Sometimes she asked me to slow down in front of a special building and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

    As the day broke, she suddenly said," I'm tired. Let's go now."

    We drove in silence to the address she had given me.

    "How much shall I give you?" she asked.

    "Nothing," I said.

    "You have to make a living, "she answered," Oh, it doesn't matter! I have other passengers to pick up." I answered.

    Almost without thinking, I bent sown and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly and said," You gave an old woman a little moment of happiness."

    Cross-country skier Man Dandan won the women's 1.4km individual sprint here on Monday, earning China's first gold at the eighth Asian Winter Games.

    "I was in good form today, "said the 28-year-old girl after winning the title in the final round with3 minutes and 48.29 seconds." I didn't think much, but just focused on the games. As an old member, I want to set a good example for my younger teammates by doing my best no matter what the result is."

    He also said that the Chinese cross-country skiing team has huge potential. "We have a quite young team. We still have five more years to Beijing Winter Olympics. I hope we can continue this good work for a long term," he said. Yelena Kolomina from Kazakhstan took the silver and Ju Hye Ri from South Korea got the bronze. Australia's Casey Wright finished the third in the final round but did not get a medal as a guest athlete.

Dorothy lived with her uncle Henry and aunt Em who were both farmers.Their house had only four walls，a floor and a small space under the floor to protect them from powerful winds.The house was in the middle of poor land with strong sunlight and few plants.Aunt Em used to be young and cheerful，but the sun and wind had taken away her happiness.Uncle Henry also looked serious and strict.Only Toto，could bring laughter into Dorothy's life.

As she looked around, she saw green grass, fruitful trees, and colourful flowers.Birds with special feathers sang and flew around.As she stood enjoying the beautiful views, a group of strangely dressed people came near. They wore round hats that rose to a small point a foot above their heads. Three men were dressed in blue, and a little woman wore a white dress. They stopped and discussed in a low voice, as if afraid to come farther.

 When we were little, my brother Gary and I were best friends. We did everything together and we had the same friends. When we 1 older, this changed so much. We did not talk and were different 2 each other. 

 When Gary was at school, he was a top student. He 3 had any problems in his classes. All of Gary's teachers liked 4 because he was so smart. However, school was 5 for me. I had lots of problems at school. 6 I had a hard time, the teachers were still strict7 me. They thought that I should do better because my brother was so smart. When I was in middle school, I played every sport I could. I really like sports——8 of them. I could not just sit and do9 . I had to be doing something at all times, but Gary never got into sports. He tried to 10 soccer at school, but he couldn't kick the ball well. My brother and I became so different. How could we be best friends again?

One day when I was six, Grandpa sent me into the woods to gather pecans for us to enjoy.

Pecan picking was really tiring work and my little basket was only half full. When I was in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}, something attracted me. A large brown squirrel a few feet away picked up a pecan, hurried to a tree and disappeared in a large hole in the trunk. A moment later he crawled out of his hiding place and climbed down to the ground. Once again, he took another pecan back to his home.

No more a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, I thought. I dashed over to the tree and looked into the hole. It was filled with pecans! Handful by handful, I scooped all those pecans into my basket. Now it was full! I couldn't wait to show Grandpa all the pecans. "Well, well, how did you find so many?" He asked. I told him what I did.

Grandpa congratulated me on how smart I'd been in observing the squirrel and his habits. Then he did something that {#blank#}3{#/blank#} me. He handed the basket back to me, "That squirrel worked very hard to gather his winter food," he said {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. "Now that all of his pecans are gone, do you think the little squirrel will survive the cold winter? A good person should {#blank#}5{#/blank#} take advantage of someone else's hard work."

I felt so guilty that I hurried back to the tree and poured all the nuts into the hole.

I didn't eat any pecans that night, but I had the satisfaction of knowing I had done just the right thing.
