    Most of us have ever imagined the life on a desert island. We sometimes imagine a desert island to be a sort of paradise(天堂) where the sun always shines. “Ripe fruit falls from the trees and you are free to sit around without any work. This is really a beautiful picture, isn't it? However, the other side of the picture is quite the opposite. Life on a desert island is awful. You either starve to death or live like Robinson Crusoe, waiting for a boat which never comes.

    Perhaps there is some truth in both these pictures, but few of us have had the chance to find out. We can only experience it in the story like the following.

    Many years ago, two men spent five days on a coral island and they wished that they could stay there longer. They were driving a badly damaged boat from the Virgin Islands to Miami to have it repaired. During the journey, their boat began to sink(下沉). They quickly put food, matches, and cans of beer into a rubber dinghy(救生筏) and rowed for a few miles across the Caribbean until they arrived at a tiny coral island.

    There were hardly any trees on the island and there was no water, but this did not seem to be a problem. The men collected rainwater in the rubber dinghy. As they had brought a gun with them, they had plenty to eat. They caught lobster and fish every day, and they thought they lived just like a king. Five days later, a tank passed by and saved them. However, they felt sorry that they had to leave

    Lao She wrote Teahouse in 1957. The play shows the audience life in China between 1898 and 1945. It takes place in a teahouse in old Beijing and it tells us the story of Wang Lifa and his customers(顾客). It describes the changes in Chinese society over fifty years.

    The story starts in 1898 during the Qing Dynasty(朝代). It continues in 1916, and finally, it brings the audience to the end of the Anti-Japanese War（抗日战争）in 1945. After the war, Wang loses the teahouse and he dies.

    Lao She was born in Beijing in 1899. He wrote many plays, novels and short stories. He was named a “People's Artist” and a “Great Master of Language”. He was one of the greatest Chinese writers of the 20th century.

    In Lao She Teahouse today, waiters bring tea to the customers and sell them delicious Chinese food. If you like the Beijing Opera, folk music, acrobatic (杂技的) or magic shows, you can enjoy them at the teahouse. Lao She Teahouse gives a wonderful welcome to everyone around the world.

    McDull is a cartoon pig character that was created in Hong Kong by Alice Mak and Brian Tse. Although McDull made his first appearances as a supporting character in the McMug comics, McDull has become a central character, attracting a huge following in Hong Kong.

    McDull is a male pig who can be distinguished by a birthmark on his right eye. He has a heart of gold, but he isn't very smart and ordinary in every way; nevertheless, he has many dreams.  However, every time he tries, he fails; he is disappointed, but tries again, exploring other dreams. In this way he creates his own colourful world. He lives his life simply and naturally. He is not perfect, but his attitude towards life, namely never giving up, makes him a popular character.

    The first McDull movie documented his life and the relationship between him and his mother. As in the comics, McDull is a piglet who lives with his mother, Mrs Mak, in Hong Kong. He is a kindergarten student. He has a happy school life with his classmates including geese, tortoises and other pigs. McDull and his mum love each other very much. McDull tries his best to make his mother proud of him and his mother tries hard to give McDull a happy childhood. After realizing his dream, McDull sets himself another target: to become an Olympic champion just like female windsurfer Lee Laishan.

    Erik was a fourteen-year-old boy. He thought he was a young man but his parents didn't think so. They told him," When you begin to think about helping others, you'll be a young man. "

    One morning, his parents gave Erik some money to buy hamburgers at a store. He saw an old man there. The man looked very sick. Erik went up to him and found that the old man had lost his money and hadn't had anything for his breakfast. Erik took the old man to the nearest restaurant. But the man ordered only a glass of water for himself. Erik felt sorry for him, so he asked the waiter to bring the man some bread and a cup of coffee. The old man was so hungry that he ate up all the food very soon. After that, the man told Erik that he would never forget his kindness. Erik was very pleased when he heard what the old man said," You are a very good young man. "

    To their surprise, the food was a present because that day was the birthday of the boss.

    There are many kinds of love. For me there is a kind of unusual love, which I call "soft love". Both my parents love me very much. Now I'd like to thank my father for giving me so much soft love. He has his own way to communicate with me.

    My father works at a university as a teacher. He is very strict with his students. He puts his heart into his work. All of his students love him. At home he is both a good husband and a good father. He is strict with me, too, so I am afraid of him. There is one thing that I will never forget.

    At the end of last term, my scores were lower than ever before, so I was very worried about it. My father came to my room and saw the report card. At that time, I was afraid that my father would be angry with me. But to my surprise, he left the room without any words. I couldn't help crying.

    The next day, when I got up, I found a letter. I opened it, and it was written by my father, "Dear daughter, I know that studying is hard work, but you won't give it up, will you? I believe that you can be the best. Now I want to give you some pieces of advice: ⒈Where there is a will, there is a way. ⒉Practice makes perfect. ⒊It's no use crying over spilt milk." After I read the letter, I couldn't say a word. So I wrote, "Dad, I can do it! Thank you!"

    I think that the soft love between my father and me makes us even closer!
