The singers in the show are very good at singing. One of the best singers is Liang Bo. He sang a song named I Love You, China as his final performance and he won the show at last.     Last Sunday I saw the hardest storm in years. It came suddenly and went on for more than three hours. After lunch, I went into my room to have a rest. The air was hot, and all was quiet.
    Then the strong wind started blowing into my room. Pieces of paper on my desk flew high into the air and some flew out of the open window. As I ran out to catch them, big drops of rain began to fall.
    When I came back into the house, it was raining harder. I tried hard to close the window. Then I heard a loud crashing（撞击）sound from the back of the house. I ran out of my room to find out what it was—a big tree had fallen down and broken the top of the back room.

Mr. Brown was on his way home from the railway station. It was very late, and he was alone on the dark road. Suddenly he heard someone behind him. He began to walk faster. The man behind him walked faster, too. He walked more slowly, and the man moved more slowly, too. He began to run, and the man was following him and he was really scared.
There was a wall on one side of the road, and he quickly climbed up on it and jumped down on the other side. “If he passes and doesn't stop,” Mr. Brown thought, “everything will be all right.” But the man didn't pass. He climbed up on the wall and jumped down, too. Mr. Brown's only thought was, “I'm in great danger!” He stood up and shouted, “What do you want? Why are you following me?”
The man was so tired that at first it was difficult for him to speak. “I didn't know that you were a very good runner,” he said at last, “I have to go to Mr. White's house, but I don't know the way. A man at the station told me that you lived next to Mr. White's and he told me to follow you. I'm too tired to go any farther （更远）.”

He came again the next day and worked until it was time to leave. His name was Jerry. He was 12 and had been at the Children's Home(孤儿院)since he was only four. I thought of him. He was honest(诚实). For example, the handle (柄) of the ax (斧)broke one day. Jerry said the Children's Home would mend it. I handed him some money to pay for it. He wouldn't take the money. "I'll pay for it, mama. I broke it. I didn't hit the wood in the right place. "
"But Jerry, no one hits the wood in the right place all the time. And it was a weak handle. I'll speak to the seller. " It was only then that he would take the money.
Another thing about Jerry was that he would do those little but helpful things. The things would not be badly needed but would make life so much easier. For example, he found a hole near the fireplace. "I'll put some wood in the hole, mama. Then when a sudden storm(暴风雨)comes up, you can stay warm. "
One cold day, Jerry sat close by me near the fire. We watched the fire bum. He suddenly talked of something he had never talked of before. "You look like my mother, especially(特别) next to the fire"

After a serious earthquake happened, a father left his wife safely at home and rushed to his son's school, only to find that the building where his son studied had collapsed and looked like a pancake (煎饼).

He was shocked. He didn't know what he should do for a while, then he remembered the words he had said to his son, "No matter what, I'll always be there for you!" And tears began to fill his eyes. He started digging through the ruins (废墟).

As he was digging, other helpless(无助的) parents and the firemen arrived and tried to pull him off the ruins, saying, "It's too late! They are all dead! There's nothing you can do!" To them he replied with one line, "Are you going to help me now?" And then he kept on digging.

No one helped, however. He went on along because he needed to know for himself, "Is my boy alive or is he dead?" He dug for eight hours. 12 hours. 36 hours. Then, in the 39th hour, he pulled back a rock and heard his son's words. He shouted his son's name, "ARMAND!" He heard back, "Dad?! It's me, Dad! I told the other kids not to worry. I told them that if you were alive, you'd save me and when you saved me, they'd be saved. You promised, 'No matter what happens, I'll always be there for you! 'You did it, Dad! "

"What's going on there? How is it?" the father asked.

"There are 14 of us left out of 33, Dad. We're frightened, hungry, thirsty and thankful you're here. When the building fell down, it made a triangle (三角形), and it saved us. "
