The International Climate Champions (ICC) project began in 2007. It gives young people of school age a chance to speak publicly on climate change and to call on people to take action to reduce its 1 .

    Each country involved selects three teenagers to be Climate Champions, who take part in local and international activities.Climate Champion Irene Sanna lived on the Italian island of Sardinia. Irene is interested in solar energy, and  2 believes that Sardinia should use the waves around its coast to produce electricity. 'We must make our plans to save our coast, which still has no pollution. We must protect the animals, birds and fish in danger from global warming. And we must recycle.'

    Chinese student Ding Yinghan is the Beijing Climate Champion. Ding feels it is not  3 to say that just one country - his own - is causing climate change. He says the air pollution that leads to global warming comes from many parts of the world, including poorer countries that are now growing more quickly. He believes the only way to  4 the situation getting even worse is for rich and poor countriesto work together.

    Sophia Angelis, a junior student in California, is a US Champion. She's against young people's generation lack of interest in politics and feels they need to discuss the problems that really matter to their generation. Sophia strongly believes that climate change is an important issue for her generation. For her, 5 in the way teenagers behave are an important way of influencing choices made by parents.

In 2008, the Climate Champion attended the International Conference of Environment Ministers in the Japanese city of Kobe.  6 , 30 countries are involved in the ICC, and more countries are expected to join soon.

    Watching TV is a very popular thing in the UK, but what kind of shows do people in the UK like to watch? Well, the most-watched TV shows every week are very popular dramas（戏剧）that are usually on at least four times every week. They are dramas1the life in the UK. We call these dramas “soap opera” or “soaps”.

    Every day, lots of fans are waiting 2 their favorite soap operas. Soap operas were 3on TV in 1952. The soap opera is not about a soap, and it is not an opera, either. It got this name because in the 1930s, soap companies(公司)4for the shows, and they told stories just like operas did. What makes the soap opera special is that the story never comes to an end.

    There are daytime and nighttime soaps. Daytime soaps usually have more 5 and they are usually made for the housewives who are often at home, 6 some washing and looking after the house and the children. Nighttime soaps are usually on once a week, and each lasts(持续) for about one hour. Most soap operas these days are shown in the evening. Each show7have many different storylines. Some of them happen at once and 8 may continue(继续) over the following shows. The same actor or actress may be seen in every show.

    Soap operas are in different time in today's TV market, 9 they are still here to say. Big fans will never give them up10.

Like two different worlds

    I come from London, a very big city! Over 81people live there, and it's always busy with tourists. So moving to a little town2only 15, 000 people is a big change for me! I am living in a little town in the countryside in Germany now.

    In the countryside, the towns are 3so everyone knows each other. At home in London, I don't even know my neighbours! Another nice thing about the countryside is that it's very green and there's lots of fresh air. I like nature, and it's nice to see4the seasons change the trees. My favourite thing about living in the countryside is that I can see thousands of 5 at night. At home I can hardly see any! That's because there's 6light in the city, but here everything is dark and the stars twinkle in the sky.

    One thing I do like about living in a city is that it's7to travel. We have the subways, buses and trains, and we even have buses that run all night. Here, the last train is before 9 pm, and there's only one an hour!  Another good thing about cities is that there are lots of 8, so you can usually find what you need. In my town here there aren't many shops, 9I have to go to the nearest city!

    I always thought I was a city girl, but now I like the countryside too. They are like two different worlds, but10feel like home!

    We call Chinese New Year Spring Festival. There is a name 1each Chinese year. We may call it the Year of the 2, the Year of the Monkey, the Year of the Dog...

    Before Chinese New Year, people are 3 shopping and 4 their houses. On Chinese New Year's Eve, there is a big family dimmer. After" dinner, all the family members stay up late to 5 the new year. On the 6 day of the new year people put on their 7 clothes and go to visit their friends and relatives. They say "8" and some other greetings to one another. People 9 have a very good time 10 the festival.
