Scientists have been experimenting with four-leg robots for years. They want to use robots to carry heavy things over difficult land.

    But providing enough power for those kinds of robots has been a problem. Now, that has changed. Engineers at MIT have designed a running robot that runs on batteries. Scientists say their robots will soon be able to run like cheetahs, the fastest land animals on Earth.

    One difficulty in designing these types of robots continues to be providing power. These machines are still quite heavy and they need a lot of power to run. But the cheetah-like robot designed by engineers at MIT is light enough m run on batteries. The robot weighs just 30 kilograms. The robot needs only about 700 watts of power to run. This robot can actually jump 40cm high and it can land very safely and then it can run. The robots limbs and other parts were made in a three-dimensional or 3D printer. A strong, light-weight material called Kevlar is used to make the robot's part stronger.

    But the development of MITs robot is not without its own set of problems. The robot's limbs must support heavy force, and sometimes they break.

    Scientists say the new technologies used on this robot may be used in the making of limbs for disabled persons and other machines. Some of those machines may help save humans from performing difficult and dangerous jobs.

What to do:

Step 1     Clean the cola bottle completely and allow it to dry.

Step 2     Use markers to draw three small triangles (三角形) and one large triangle on the poster board. Cut out the triangles.

Step 3     Roll (卷起) the large triangle so that two of its sides touch and it forms a rocket's nose cone. Glue the sides of the cone so that it holds its shape.

Step 4     Glue the nose cone to the bottom of the bottle to make the top of the rocket.

Step 5     Glue the smaller triangles to the other end of the cola bottle, around its opening. The triangles will be the tail fins.

Do you wear school uniforms at school? Do you like them? In many schools, students must wear   uniforms every day. Ann Rooney is a twelve- year- old schoolgirl in Hong Kong. In summer, girls in her school wear yellow shirts and blue skirts. And boys wear white shirts, too. But they wear blue shorts. When it's cold, both girls and boys wear white sweaters and green trousers. They also have blueT- shirts and black trousers for P. E. classes and sports meetings. Ann always wears size S because she is short and thin. Her best friend Lisa Brown wears size L.

The Chinese lunar calendar（Nongli） is the traditional Chinese calendar and is often used in agriculture（农业）. In the Chinese calendar, the beginning of the year falls somewhere between late January and early February.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the crescent （新月） appears on the first day of each month and full moon comes out in the middle of the month. The cycle lasts for about 30 days.24 days mark 24 divisions of the solar year in the Chinese lunar calendar, according to the different positions of the sun. For example, the division "Lichun" or "the Beginning of Spring" reminds people that spring is coming. "Jingzhe" or "the Awakening of Insects" means that the weather is getting warmer. "Lixia" or "the Beginning of Summer" is the point that crops are blooming. "Dahan" or "the Major Cold" is the end of severe winter. All these create a circle.

The dates of most of the traditional festivals base on the Chinese lunar calendar. Some countries belonging to the Chinese-character cultural circle, such as Japan, Korea, and Vietnam also celebrate the traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival（Chinese New Year）, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and so on.

Although Chinese firstly adopted（采用） the Western calendar in 1912, the Chinese lunar calendar, as one of the most important carriers of Chinese culture, is still widely used among Chinese people.

A long time ago, the ancient Chinese created  (创造) the 24 solar terms to guide crop planting. Each part starts with a solar term. One of the solar terms is called"Lidong" or the"Start of Winter". It means the winter is coming.

 The"Start of Winter" is the nineteenth of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendar. It is a transition between autumn and winter. After that day, most areas in China will experience a change from cool to cold weather. As the weather slowly cools down and the temperature (温度) falls, water starts freezing. Some fields freeze over. People can't see many big birds, but they can find big clams(蚌) on the beach. Ancient people believed clams came from the missing birds.

 On the day of the"Start of Winter", in ancient times, Chinese people ate jiaozi to celebrate. And now eating jiaozi on this day is a must for people in North China. After the"Start of Winter", taking part in sports activities like skating becomes popular.

 As an old saying goes, "On the day of the'Start of Winter', water cools suddenly(突然地)." But some winter swimming lovers will swim in the cold rivers on that day to welcome the season.
