    Bill goes to his mom for it.Mom says，"I'm sorry.Bill.I'm busy cooking(做饭)dinner5our family."Bill says， "That's OK，Mom."Then he goes into6room and says to his7 ， "Josh， we can't go on a picnic.Mom is busy."

    Then Mom comes to the brothers'8."Bill and Josh，how about9a picnic' on a blanket by a sunny window(在暖洋洋的窗边的毯子上)'?"She asks."Great! Mom!" say the brothers. "Let's make some10picnic food，"says Mom.

    One afternoon, my son Adam asked me, "Are all people the same even though they are different in colour?"

    It was a serious question. I1for a while, and then said, "I'll explain it sooner. Let's go to a fruit shop. I have something interesting to show you."

 At the fruit shop, we bought some apples in different 2—red, green and yellow ones. After we got home, I told Adam, "It's time to 3your question now." I put one apple of each kind colour on the table. Adam 4them carefully. He had a 5look on his face.

    "People are like apples. They come in all different colors, shapes and sizes. On the 6, some of the apples may not even look as delicious as7." While I was talking, Adam was8each one carefully. Then, I took each of the apples and peeled(削皮) them, placing them back on the9, but in a different place.

    "Okay, Adam, tell me which is which."

    He said, "I10tell. They all look the same now."

    He took big bites, and then a huge smile came across his face. "People are13like apples! They are all different, but once you take off the outside, they're pretty much the14on the inside."

I was not surprised when my 89-year-old father called me and said that he wanted to come to my farm. He always liked1and being busy.

He asked, “Peg, I hear you are going to pull sick cows out of the cowshed (牛棚) for2. Do you think I can help pull them out?” He asked me twice after my long silence. I just didn't want to3him, so I had to reply, “Dad, you can come over here and try it.”

We continued to do work on our cows. When there were three left, my father4. I helped him put on the protection suit. For an old man, it was a really5task, but he finally made it. I noticed Dad's tears sparkling in his eyes, which were the tears of6that he still managed to pull three cows out.

My workers were all moved and admired him very much. I also felt7that I had such a great father. During those years, my father worked as a pilot, a pilots' trainer, a husband and a father. I owed all this to my father.

Wang Yaping has lots of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} such as playing the piano and swimming. She is good at everything. When she was young. She was {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in science and she hoped to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}to space some day.

Now she has achieved her{#blank#}8{#/blank#} .Her interests bring her {#blank#}9{#/blank#}，and she also has{#blank#}10{#/blank#} the hearts of Chinese people.

The first day

Breakfast: milk and bread   Lunch: rice and fish     Dinner: vegetable salads

Trip: visited the Confucius Temple (夫子庙) in the morning watched a lantern (灯笼) show in the Qinhuai Lantern Festival

The second day

Breakfast: Xiaolongbao and vegetable soup     Lunch: beef noodles and salad

Dinner: hamburgers and juice

Trip: went to the Nanjing Museum from 9:00a. m. to 11:30a. m. 

The third day

Breakfast: sandwiches and milk          Lunch: dumplings and vegetable soup

Dinner: tomato soup and salad

Trip: went to Xianfeng Bookstore in the morning went shopping and bought some gifts for my friends in the afternoon

Feeling about the trip

Yuan Longping is a great scientist who is the first person to develop hybrid rice（杂交水稻）. His research greatly solved the problem of the food shortage in the world. 

Yuan Longping started the research in 1964. He put forward the idea of hybrid rice, did experiments（实验）on the farm, and succeeded in 1973. The new technology was tested in many areas of South China in 1974, and then he continued to test it in other areas. China has become the first country that can produce hybrid rice. Yuan made it possible to grow hybrid rice in large amounts, and he is called "Father of Hybrid Rice". 

Besides being a respected（受人尊重的）scientist, he is also a romantic husband and a caring grandfather. Yuan's granddaughters remembered that when he traveled to Hong Kong, he wanted to buy his wife a new watch, but it was too expensive, so he bought a candy instead. When he was 90 years old, his family held a birthday party. Hundreds of people came to the party. There was a moving moment: Yuan cut the first piece of cake and immediately gave it to his wife. They also said that their grandfather paid much attention to their English and math studies. No matter how tired he was after work, he would still ask about their studies. 

Yuan Longping loved playing the violin, swimming and driving. What's more, he had a special habit—playing Mahjong（麻将）with friends for an hour every evening to train his brain. Just like common people, the scientist laughed when he won and didn't hide his disappointment when he lost. When his requirement（请求）to build a research center was agreed to, he was very excited. 

This is Yuan Longping: an ordinary（普通的）person who made great achievements.
