There are many kinds of music in the world, pop music, classical music, folk music and so on. Do you know country music? It's a traditional kind of music from the southern states of America, I like it very much! It will take me away for a while after I am tired. The guitars and songs will take me to mountains and fields.

Country music usually talks of everyday life and feelings. It's like the spirit of America, easy to understand, slow and simple.

Country music developed in the Southern United States. It was the folk music of American countryside. Many of the songs tell about the lives of farmers. They talk about love, crops or death. The life in the countryside can be hard, so the words in country music are often sad. At first, people played the music only at family parties. But it became more popular later. In the 1920s, people played country songs on the radio, and they made them into records.

When people in the countryside moved to towns and cities to look for jobs, they took their music with them. Country music continued to change and became popular across America.

John Denver was one of America's most famous country singers in the 1970s. His song Take Me Home, Country Roads is well known and people still play it today.

①Zoos are very popular with adults and children. But are zoos actually a good thing?

②Some people criticize keeping animals in zoos. In their opinion, animals often suffer a lot for being enclosed. Even the best zoos can't provide the environment that animals have in the wild. It's a pity that the animals living in the wild are caught, and then kept away from their families. This leads many zoo animals to feel nervous or sad. What's worse, some zoo animals may even die earlier than their wild relatives.

③However, some people have different ideas. They think zoos can connect people with animals, educate the public to protect animals and call on people to save animals as well as their homes. Some zoos offer a safe place to those animals which have been badly treated. Also, to support international breeding program, zoos have special programs to produce more young animals, especially for the species (物种) which are in danger of dying out. In the wild, some of the endangered species have trouble in finding partners and having new baby animals. A good zoo will provide a safe environment for these species. Moreover, zoos also do research into animal behavior and how to treat their illnesses.

④So, are zoos good or not? It depends on how good the zoo is. It's sure that zoos have more advantages than their harmful effects. But it is understandable that many people don't agree to enclose animals for any reason.

 阅读短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中,选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案。

In my three years of junior high school, I played soccer, basketball, and baseball. I love sports and really enjoy being part of a team. Playing on our school sports teams is the best part of my school life. I think I'm very lucky to have this chance.

In fact, many students who love sports don't have the chance to play on a school team. That's because, to join a team, you have to try out. And you should do well in tryouts (选拔赛). Some students may be ill that day, or nervous (紧张的), or are just having a bad day, so they don't play their best and can't join a team. That is too bad.

Also, some students really don't have the skills to play well. They never join a team, and that isn't fair (公平的). But remember, this is school and students are here to learn. All students should have the chance to learn sports skills and teamwork by playing on a school sports team.

Sports are important for good health. They help students feel good about themselves and their school. They meet and become friends in the teams. Players have fun playing, and their parents have fun watching and cheering for the team. So, sports bring students and parents together, too. These teams are just for fun, so if possible, let's give every student a chance to play on the school sports team.
