Many musicians meet and form(组成)a band because they like to write and play their own music. They may start as a group of high school students and practice their music in someone's house. Sometimes they may play to passers—by in the street or subway so that they can get some money for themselves or pay for their instruments (乐器).

    However, there was one band that started in a different way. It was called the Monkees and was formed in 1965. It began as a TV show. The TV show had planned to find four rock musicians who could act as well as sing. But they could only find one who was good enough. They had to use actors for the other three members of the band.

    Since some of these actors could not sing well enough，they had to ask for help from other musicians. So at first，the band just pretended (假装)to sing. Anyway，their performances were excellent and they got lots of fans. Each week on TV，the Monkees would pretended to play and sing songs written by other musicians. After a year or so，they became more serious about their work. They started to play and sing their own songs like a real band. Then they produced(制作)their own records and started touring and playing their own music. In the USA they became even more influential and popular than the Beatles and sold even more records.

    However, the band broke up around 1970，but happily they reunited(重聚)in the 1980s. They produced a new record in 1996 to celebrate their time as a band. It was very successful. Today the Monkees are still making music for their millions of fans.

It was December 23. I became 1 because it was my last night at school that term. The December holidays would 2 the next day.

3 , the happy time came and the December holidays started. I hurried home and well prepared for my trip. It was time for my 4 , my sister and me to meet my father at the airport and fly on holiday.

Mum drove a car to the 5 . A close family friend, Peter, was coming with us. Everyone was 6 on the way. We sang songs with the radio. Suddenly mum 7 , "Oh, God, the brakes (刹车) aren't working!"

We were coming to a cross road. The traffic light ahead was 8 . Many cars were waiting patiently. Mum had to make a 9 : rush into the cars or turn onto the side walk. There was nobody on the side walk. To avoid causing danger to other cars, she 10 to make a turn.

The turn was so sudden that the 11 hit a big tree. Peter was not wearing his seatbelt (安全带) and his door opened. He12 from the car and fell to the ground heavily.

What does running mean to you？For 21﹣year﹣old Wang Xueting and her father Wang Kequan，running is not only a kind of exercise but also a great experience（体验）.

Wang Xueting runs with her father every day now.Wang Xueting's 51﹣year﹣old father was born with an eye problem and that made him lose hope for his life.As a running lover，Wang Xueting didn't give up and decided to help her father.But running wasn't easy for her father in the beginning.Wang Xueting first bought a second﹣hand treadmill（跑步机） online for her father，but he couldn't use it because of his eye problem.

Then she decided to run with her father.At first，they ran in their community（社区）.Later they ran farther and more quickly.Her father slowly liked running.Because of it，he became healthier. "When I'm running，I feel like I'm not disabled （残疾的），" he said.Now running makes Wang Xueting and her father closer.

The story of Wang Xueting and her father moved many people after these people saw photos of their running on the Internet.

They joined a club﹣Running in the Dark for runners with eye problems.They are preparing （准备） to run a half marathon（马拉松赛跑）.Wang Kequan also volunteered （自愿做） to help other disabled people. "My dad is my hero，" Wang Xueting said.

 My son Laurie came home at the first lunchtime from the kindergarten* and shouted," Isn't anybody here?" " How was school today?" I asked." All right," he said." Did you learn anything?" his father asked. Laurie answered coldly," I didn't learn nothing." 

" But the teacher spanked* a boy," Laurie said," For being fresh*," he added, with his mouth full." What did he do?" I asked." Who was it?" Laurie thought." It was Charles." he said.

 The next day, as soon as he sat down at lunch," Well, Charles was bad again today. He said." Today Charles hit the teacher The next few days, Laurie still came home with tons of bad stories about Charles.

 During the third and fourth weeks it looked like a change in Charles. Laurie reported kindlessly," Charles was so good today the teacher gave him an apple." " What?" I said, and my husband added unbelievably," You mean Charles?" " Charles, Laurie said." He gave the crayons around and picked up the books and the teacher said he was her helper." zksq620

" Can this be true, about Charles?" I asked my husband." Can something like this happen?" " Wait and see," my husband said cynically*. Within a week, everything was back to normal and Charles was his usual, terrible self.

" The Parent meeting's next week," I told my husband one evening." I'm going to find Charles's mother there." " Ask her what happened to Charles," my husband said." I'd like to know." " I'd like to know myself'I said.

 At the meeting, I looked over the faces of all the other mothers. None of them looked unhappy enough to be the mother of Charles. No one stood up and apologised for the way her son had been acting.

 After the meeting, I found Laurie's teacher." I' ve been wanting to meet you," I said." I'm Laurie's mother." " Oh, yes," she said." We' re all so interested in Laurie." " He certainly likes kindergarten" I said." He talks about it all the time." " He's had some trouble getting used to school," she said." But I think he' ll be all right." " Laurie usually fits in quickly, I said." I suppose his trouble might be from Charles' influence." " Charles? the teacher said." Yes, I said, laughing." You must have your hands full with Charles." " Charles?" she said." We    don't    have    any    Charles    in    kindergarten." 

I love reading. I spend over seven hours a week reading different kinds of books.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}I read a lot at the weekend. 

I am interested in story books. I enjoy reading the books of Robert Louis Stevenson because I find them really interesting. For example, Treasure Island tells the story of a young boy who sailed (航行) the sea to look for the hidden treasure.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} His story gave me a lot of confidence. After reading the book, I am not as shy as before and I am willing to try new things. I also want to travel and have exciting experiences in the future. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Maybe I can become a writer when I grow up. 

I get my books from Sunshine Library- it is just on the other side of my home. My friends give me lots of advice on books. We often meet together and talk about what to read.

They also open up a whole new world to me.
