安徽省滁州市定远县育才学校2019届高三上学期(试验班)英语入学考试试卷
A. Start simply. B. Break it into small pieces. C. Draw a rough layout on a sheet of paper. D. Many websites are considered very interesting. E. Before you start building your site, do some planning. F. Think of your home page as the starting point of your website. G. These days, having a web address is almost as important as a street address. |
In the 60s, people asked about your astrological (about star) sign. In the 90s, they want to know your website. Your website is an electronic meeting place for your family, friends and potentially, millions of people around the world. Best of all, you may not have to spend a cent. The Web is filled with all kinds of free services and all it takes is some time and creativity.
Like the table of contents of a book or magazine, the home page is the front door. Your site can have one or more pages, depending on how you design it.
While web pages vary greatly in their design and content, most use a traditional magazine layout (版面设计). At the top of the page is a banner (横幅) GRAPHIC. Next comes a greeting and short description of the site. Pictures, text, and links to other websites follow.
Think about whom the site is for and what you want to say. Next, gather up the material that you want to put on the site.
While there are no rules you have to follow, there are a few things to keep in mind: If you want too much at the beginning, you may never get the site off the ground. You can always add to your site.
Less is better. Most people don't like to read a lot of long texts online.
Smaller is better. Since it can take a long time to download large files, keep the file sizes small.
Have the rights. Don't put any material on your site unless you are sure you can do it legally. Always remember to get the permission from the writer first.
Now it's time to roll up your sleeves and start building.
Questions you should ask yourself when you fail
The more new things we try the more failure we are likely to have.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Experiencing failure can be a learning experience and an opportunity for a fresh start. A good way to begin this process is by asking yourself some tough questions.
⑴What can I learn from this?
Take responsibility for what went wrong. OK, so it was not all your fault—but some of it was. Successful people don't make excuses or blame others. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} So you should look at the experience objectively(客观地).
⑵Do I need to acquire or improve some skills?
Did the problem reveal some lack of skill on your part? How could you learn or improve those skills? Perhaps there are books or courses or people you could turn to. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}
⑶Who can I learn from?
Is there someone to whom you can turn for advice? Did a boss, colleague or friend see what happened? {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Most people do not ask for help because they believe it to be a sign of weakness rather than strength. It's not. It shows that you are ready to learn and change.
⑷What will I do next?
Now draw up an action plan. Will you try something similar or something different? Revisit your goals. Failure doesn't mean you have to give up; maybe you just need to change it in another way. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
A. You can now reset your sights on your destination and plan a new course. B. Make them step stones to future success. C. They take responsibility for the failure. D. In fact the only way to avoid failure is to do nothing new. E. The important thing is how we deal with failure. F. Make a self-development plan to acquire the skills and experience you need. G. If they are constructive and supportive then ask them for some feedback (反馈) and guidance. |
When a New Yorker was hiking in Europe, his Swiss friend kept saying “Listen to that!” but he didn't hear anything. His ears were accustomed to loud city noises and it was days before he was able to notice the sound of a bird. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. There is background music in restaurants, bars, stores, rest rooms, elevators, and when you are waiting on the telephone. Russell Baker blames “society's determination to entertain you whether you like it or not”.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#}, but in practice they avoid it. They drive with the car radio turned up, switch on the television when they get home, and exercise while listening to music on headphones. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} They can buy things in stores, but they do not have enough human contact. So they fill their lives with sound.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Young men play their car stereos loudly in order to create a personal environment around them. Like animals, they are marking a territory to warn rivals away and to attract a mate.
It may also be true that the brain itself wants excitement just as the stomach insists on food. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} This seems extreme. Perhaps we would be better off if we sought periods of silence to provide balance.
A. Sometimes the reason for the noise is primitive B. The noise suggests that people have a spiritual problem C. They spend too much time in elevators and the like D. Unlike in the past, we now have modern technology to supply a constant flood of sounds E. For most of us, silence has become a rare experience F. A good response would be to use our brains to improve modern technology G. People may say they yearn for quiet |
