My six-year-old granddaughter, Cindy, and I stopped at a food shop for some bread. Cindy had1 it for several days. As we were going out of the door, a young teenage boy was coming in.

    The boy had no hair on the side of his head but a set of blue spiked(成锥形的) hair on top of it. His nose was 2 , and a ring ran through the hole. A chain went across his face and it was connected to his earring. He held a skateboard under one arm and a basketball under the other.

    “How could such a powerless little mouse ever help me?” That thought made Lion laugh so much that he decided to let Mouse go.  A week later, Lion was walking through the jungle on the way to his favorite tree when he stepped onto a hunter's net.  The net scooped him up. No matter how he twisted (扭动) and turned, he couldn't escape.

    When Mouse heard Lion's frightened shouts, he raced to help. Mouse quickly chewed（咬）through the ropes to make a hole in the net.  Soon, Lion moved out and was free. Lion looked down at the little mouse. “Thank you for saving my life,” said Lion, smiling his widest smile.  “I was mistaken.  You are not a powerless little mouse. You are a great friend!”

    In Japan, Luffy is more popular than Harry Potter．Luffy is the main character of One Piece(海贼王)．The book came out in 1997.

    One Piece tells the adventures of Monkey D．Luffy, a 17-year-old boy．He gets supernatural abilities by eating fruit．Luffy's dream is to find the world's biggest treasure, One Piece．Then he wants to become the next Pirate(海盗) King.

    To make his dream come true, Luffy has to reach the end of the most dangerous ocean: the Grand Line．Luffy travels with a group of pirates called the Straw Hats．On his way, more people join the group．It even includes a cook, a soldier and a musician．They also help Luffy fight with other pirates on the way.

    Many Chinese teenagers are One Piece fans．Yang Peiqi, 14, of Shenzhen, says he thinks reading One Piece is great fun and also he likes the themes of the story－dreams and friends．

    Hans Christian Andersen was born in Denmark in 1805. He lived with his parents in a town called Odense. They were a very poor family and they couldn't afford to send Hans Christian to school.

    As a little boy, Hans Christian enjoyed making up fairy tales(童话) and puppet(木偶) shows. When he was only eleven years old, his father died and he had to go out to work to make money to help his mother.

    Three years later, Hans Christian left home and went to the city of Copenhagen to be famous and rich. To begin with he didn't do very well there, but at last he was able to go back to school and then on to university to continue his education.

    He wrote fairy tales and stories and soon became famous. At first he wrote the stories that he had heard when he was a child and then began to make up new tales. During his seventy-one year life. Hans Christian wrote over three hundred stories.

    Many of his stories are still enjoyed by children today. Among his best-known stories are: the Emperor's New Clothes, the Ugly Duckling, the Snow Queen, the Princess and the Pea, and the little Mermaid.

    Amy told her mother she wasn't feeling well yesterday morning. She stomachache, a high fever, and a sore throat.

    They got to the doctor's waiting room at 8: 20. There were too many patients, so they had to wait there. At 11: 20, Amy finally saw the doctor. The doctor was sure that she was quite sick, although he still couldn't make sure what was wrong with her. There were more tests that he could do to find out her illness, but at first, he decided to just ask her about her symptoms (症状) to see if he could get a better diagnosis(诊断).

    The doctor asked, "Young lady, what is troubling you the most right now?"

    The little girl answered: "What's troubling me the most? It's my elder brother Johnny. He is always breaking my toys and sometimes beats me!"
