Three small fish lived in the sea. When they were very young, their parents died. They had to look after each other day after day. Finally, they grew up and could swim in deep water.

    One morning, a big wave(浪) pushed the three fish to a shallow water. It also pushed a small boat there. It was hard for them to go back to the sea because the boat was right in front of them. The largest fish realized(意识到) that they were in danger, and said they had to find a way to leave there as fast as possible. The second largest fish agreed with his elder brother, but the youngest one did not. He said that there was much time for their activities, so he would not worry at all and still swam happily.

    At last, the largest fish returned to the sea by jumping over the lowest part of the boat. The second largest fish were also successful in joining his elder brother in the other side of water. But the youngest one still swam there happily.

    Two hours later, when the sun came up, the water in the small shallow part dried up(干). The youngest fish died finally.

    Police aren't sure how else to explain it. But when a policeman walked into an apartment on Thursday night to answer a 911 call, a cat was lying by a telephone on the floor. The cat's owner, Gary, was on the ground near his bed having fallen out of his wheelchair.

    Gary said his cat, Tommy, must have hit the right buttons(按钮)to call 911. He said he couldn't get up because of great pain from his chest(胸口). He also couldn't reach the medicine on the table.

    The policeman, Patrick, said police got a 911 call from Gray's apartment, but there was no one on the phone. Police called back to make sure everything was OK, and when no one answered, they decided to check things out. That's why Patrick found Tommy next to the phone.

    Gary got the cat three years ago to help lower his blood pressure (压力). He trained him to call 911, but unsure if the training would work. The phone in the living room is always on the floor, and there are 12 small buttons including a speed dial (快捷键) for 911 right above the button for the speaker phone.

    "He's my hero(英雄)." Gray said.

    One day, 100 people were attending a speech. The speaker was making a speech about happiness. However, after a few hours, people began to lose their attention. The speaker thought of an idea. He stopped his speech and asked all of the people to take part in a group activity.

    He gave each person a balloon in the room. Each person was asked to write his or her name on the balloon with a black marker (记号笔). Then, all of the balloons were collected and moved to another room.

The 100 people were then let into the room and told to find the balloon with their own name

    Everyone rushed around, crazily searching for their own balloon. People were bumping into and tripping (绊倒) over each other.

But after about five minutes of searching, no one could find their own balloon.

    After seeing this, the speaker asked each person to collect a balloon and try to find the person, whose name was written on it. Everyone started talking to each other and asking each other for their name. In just a few minutes, everyone had his or her own balloon.

    "Can you see what happened?" the speaker said. "The balloons are like the happiness we look for in our own lives. Everyone is busy looking for their own happiness, not caring what happens to others. But sometimes the best way to find happiness is to help others. Help them find happiness and you can find your own."

    Dreams are like stars. You may never catch them, but if you follow them, they will lead you to success. Yan Ning is such a dream follower.

Yan is a rising star in the science world. When Yan Ning was only a little girl, she dreamed of being a great scientist. After years of hard work, in 1996, she went to Tsinghua University to study biology. After graduating from Tsinghua in 2000, she went to Princeton University and finished her study abroad in 2007. Then she returned to Tsinghua and set up her own lab. At the age of 30, she became the youngest professor(教授)at Tsinghua.

    Now. Yan, 42, has become a leading biology researcher at Princeton. On April 30, she was included among the 100 new members and 25 foreign associates(院士)into the US Natinal Academy of Science(国家料学院)

    However, it was a long and difficult road for her to make such achievements. She said that in order to realize her dream, she experienced a lot of failures and pains. But she never gave up her dream. Instead, she followed her dream and fought for it.

    She usually works at least I4 hours a day. Sometimes she even forgets to eat and rest and works until late night. She never gets tired because she thinks doing research is the most "comfortable" job for her.

In a TV interview, Yan encouraged young people to work hard for their dreams. "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to follow them."

Once upon a time, a king went for hunting in the forest. While returning back, because of the dark he couldn't find his way. At last he found a small 1 . The king went over and 2 the door. A poor farmer lived in the house. He 3 great care of the king.
