Bill is a student in Jiangdu Sunshine Secondary school. Last week he joined the two-day tour between Hong Kong and Macao with his parents.

    Do you know Coco ， a 3D film by Lee Unkrich? It is one of my favourite movies and its score gets to as high as 9.1 of 10 on a Chinese website Douban. I was lucky to be the first one to watch it in China on November 24th, 2017.

    The film Coco tells a story about a twelve-year-old boy called Miguel Rivera. Coco was his grand-grandmother. Miguel had a musical dream but his family didn't like his dream. However, he still worked hard for it secretly and never gave up. One day, he went into a place full of the dead after touching a special guitar. Luckily，with the help of his grand-grand-grandfather, a great musician named Ekotto, he had a wonderful time and returned to the real world.

Hot pot(火锅) and Hotpot

    I'm learning English in the UK where I meet a lot of new friends and eat something delicious. Hot pot is many Chinese people's favorite food, including(包括) me. After having three days of hamburgers, sandwiches and potatoes in the UK, how excited I was to know that there was going to be a free meal of hotpot to welcome the new students. On the way to the canteen, I seemed to smell the hot pot in the air.

    To my surprise, when I stepped into the room, in front of me were still potatoes and bread. Where was the hot pot?

    With many questions in my head, I sat down to have the free meal. After talking with a French girl, I got to know that hot pot is completely different from hotpot. Chinese hot pot is written in two words and hotpot, one word, is a traditional English dish.

    Hotpot is made from mutton and onion. On the top there are sliced potatoes. People put it in the oven all day in a heavy pot and on a low heat. You can often see it at parties in the UK because it's easy to prepare for a large number of people and is not expensive.

    Hotpot doesn't taste bad. However, I still miss hot pot, two words!

    There are many unusual hotels around the world. In Greenland, there is a hotel made out of ice, open between December and April every year. In Turkey, there is a cave hotel with a television, furniture, and a bathroom in each room. And in Bolivia, there is the Salt Palace Hotel.

    Thousands of years ago, the area around the Salt Palace Hotel was a large lake. But over time, all the water disappeared. Today, the area has only two small lakes and two salt deserts.

    The larger of the two deserts, the Uyuni salt desert, is 12, 000 square kilometres. During the day, the desert is bright white because of the salt. There are no roads across the Uyuni desert, so local people must show guests the way to the hotel.

    In the early 1990s, a man named Juan Quesada built the hotel. He cut big blocks of salt from the desert and used the blocks to build it. Everything in the hotel is made out of salt the walls, the roof（屋顶）, the tables, the chairs, the beds, and the hotel's bar.

    The sun heats（使变热） the walls and roof during the day. At night the desert is very cold, but the rooms stay warm. The hotel has twelve rooms and a double room costs $ 60 a night.

A sign on the hotel's wall tells guests, "Please don't lick（舔） the walls."

    What is a typical day like for a high school student in the United States? Well, everyone's is very different. I can describe my normal day in high school for you,

    Our school day usually went from 8:30 am to 5: 30 pm. However

some days I had cheerleading(啦啦队) practice or play practice at 6:30 am. If I had cheerleading practice, I got ready at school, and if I had time, I ate breakfast at the school dining hall.

    Then I would go towards my locker and get my books for the first period. Each class went for about 50 minutes and we had 4 minutes to get to the next class. We studied everything from science to maths and Spanish to PE.

    I played the flute(长笛) in band, so one of my class periods was used for that. Lunchtime would be at 12:30 pm and then we had some time to hang out outside or by our lockers. At the end of the day there was a seminar(研讨会) period. It could be used for studying or meetings.

    After school, I would cheer at a basketball game, be a lifeguard(救生员) at work or has speech practice. My family always tried to have dinner together at 7 pm, but there wasn't always time. I would finally start studying at 8 or 9 pm.

    So there you have it! That's my typical day in high school.
