The ocean is no longer a safe place for many creatures. For many years, 1 activities such as polluting and overfishing(过度捕捞) have made it 2 for many creatures to live in it. In 2015, Chile, a country in South America, tried to 3 that. It created the Nazca-Desventuradas Marine Park. It is the 4 ocean reserve in North or South America. It is about 115,000 square miles of the Pacific Ocean. That's about the 5 of the state of Arizona, USA.

    No 6 or any other kind of harmful human activity will be 7 in the waters in that area. That's good news for the sea creatures that live in that part of the Pacific Ocean. The area is 8 to many unusual creatures not found anywhere else in the world.

    2015 was a big year for protecting the world's oceans. In total, more than one million square miles of ocean were 9 protected in the year.

    Liesbeth van der Meer is a scientist at Oceana, a group working to 10 the oceans. She said Chile's new reserve was a great victory(胜利) for the world's oceans.

    Once there lived a rich man called King. He loved chatting(聊天) very much. Every day he had his men do all the housework, so he had enough time to chat with others.

    One summer afternoon, his friend Bruce invited him to his birthday party. King kept on chatting at table. Later, all the other friends had left, but he didn't notice it. Bruce was worried, because he had just received a call from his sister and he would go to the station to meet her. But King didn't say goodbye to him, and he went on chatting.

    At that time, King's wife came in and asked her husband, "Would you like a roast(烤制) bird, dear?"

    "Of course," King answered, "but where is it?"

    "I heard a bird singing in the big tree outside just now," said the woman. "I want it to be the last dish. I'll cut the tree down. "

    "But I'm afraid it will fly away when you begin to cut the tree," said King.

    This poem was written by a middle school student in a lonely mountains town in Yunnan Province during her first poetry class. The girl missed her mother, who died when she was 5.

    Kang Yu, the teacher who taught the girl how to write the poem, graduated from Renmin University of China in Beijing in 2015. Soon after her gradation, Kang moved to a town in Yunnan, and worked as a teacher at a middle school there.

    Kang said, "Compared with students in the city, perhaps students in the countryside need a way to express their feelings and be heard more." Supported by the headmaster and other teachers, the school held eight poetry classes for students every year.

    As the classes grew in popularity, Kang became the school's favourite teacher. After she finished her teaching at the school in June 2017, she returned m Beijing and planned to study abroad.

    However, on Teachers' Day in 2017, Kang received a big box full of poems and Letters written by students at her old school. She felt she was needed and decided to abandon her plan of studying abroad. Instead, she set up Enlighten our Future, a charity that reaches students in the countryside how to write poems.

    "Now, I go to several places every week I sleep less than six hours a night and the job  provides no vacations and little money, but the happiness and satisfaction I feel is rewarding enough." Kang said.

    The relationship(关系) between teachers and students is an important part of school life. An Indian movie called Hichki tells the story of a teacher who helps some bad students and makes them better people. It is popular with lots of students now.

In Hichki, the main character is Naina Mathur. She has an illness(疾病) that makes her hiccup(打嗝) often. With her hard work, she gets her dream job as a teacher. But she has to teach a class of rebellious students. They laugh at Mathur in her first class.
    However, Mathur doesn't get angry(生气) with them. She tries her best to help every student. When they cause a small explosion (爆炸) and the school asks them to leave, Mathur still help them a lot. Little by little, Mathur wins the students' hearts. Under her care, the students start to study harder and become better and better.

    From the story, we know that a good teacher doesn't simply pass on knowledge(知识), but shows students how to be a good person. It also shows us that anyone can be successful, even if they have some kind of illness.
