The Palace Museum，known as the Forbidden City, is the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (large) and most well {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (reserve) imperial (皇帝的) residence in China today. It is divided into an outer and an inner court with a rectan­gular shape, 960 meters long from north to south and 750 meters in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wide) from east to west. It has a splendid history since the Ming Dynasty, and it {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (rebuild) and repaired many times in the past. I was so excited to visit it {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my family last summer vacation. After we passed through the Front Gate, a lot of palaces appeared. The tour guide told us there were almost 8, 700 rooms in the Palace Museum. During the Ming Dynasty, construction began in 1406. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} took 14 years to build the Forbidden City. I was {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (real) surprised that the workers could build it so well {#blank#}8{#/blank#} even today it is not out of style. I could not remember all the names of the buildings，but I took hundreds of beautiful {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (photo) on the way. I think I will never forget the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (amaze) trip I had in Beijing, China and I will go there next time with my friends. 

When Juni Stefanus Santoso from Indonesia rode a camel in a desert in Dunhuang, Gansu Province — an important cultural center on the Silk Road {#blank#}1{#/blank#} cultures from the East and the West met and mixed hundreds of years ago — he felt like he was "stepping into another world" that was foreign, and very different from his previous {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (impress) of China. 

On a four-day trip to Dunhuang in late April, Santoso, together with other foreign students, mostly from nations along the Silk Road, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be ) on a cultural journey to explore the desert landscape, to visit the local museum, the Mogao Caves and craftsmen, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to communicate with students from the Dunhuang College of Northwest Normal University. All of these activities offered the 23-year-old Indonesian an impressive experience, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} which he could learn the culture of ancient China. 

"It was so {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (amaze). It's like another side of the country," says Santoso. Before he came to China, he thought it was a country full of technology-related companies — an impression that was supported by the fast and convenient technology- {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (drive) services that came to be a part of his daily life when he moved to Tianjin. 

"I was impressed by China's science and technologies before coming to China. You can do everything on your phone," says Santoso, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (refer) to services like electronic payment and online shopping. 

The cultural trip, however, showed Santoso a view of China {#blank#}9{#/blank#} art and goods were transported along the Silk Road more than a thousand years ago. The young man said he {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (teach) a little bit about the Silk Road in his middle school history class. 

The process of publishing articles in Teens {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （be） very meaningful to me over the last year. It provides me with the opportunity to practice writing, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} （broad） my horizons and enrich my comprehensive practice record （综合实践记录）. I also met many excellent friends, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} views on different things have given me a lot of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （inspire）.

 {#blank#}5{#/blank#} impressed me most was an interview I did for Teens about what my classmates thought about the school's monitoring of students'emotions. I had a very {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （heat） discussion with my friend. His insightful （有洞见的） and logical ideas inspired me. It is precisely （正是） because of this interview {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I started to pay more attention to logic and look at things from many angles in my subsequent（之后的） writing for Teens. What's more, I also boosted my skills in writing argumentative essays in the Chinese exam. I am very grateful to Teens {#blank#}8{#/blank#} giving me this chance to improve {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （I） in many aspects!

In the future, I will keep writing and working hard. I believe that Teens has {#blank#}10{#/blank#} bright future.

I grew up hiking and climbing mountain s a lot. It was my dad who accompanied me and taught me how to hike and climb mountains. On our first hike, our group ran ahead without us. Dad and I ended up 1 the path toward the top. This was the 2 part of the climb, where we had to climb rocks. I was scared not to have the path to tell us where to go. Mainly, I was afraid that Dad would fall off the mountain when he went 3 to seek for the best way for me to climb up. I was grateful for his 4 . He always made me feel like I was safe with him — even when he insisted that we should not 5 .

When we were close to the top, we 6 some hikers. One of them crouched (蹲) down on a rock, grasping at branches of a bush. His face was 7 and looked frozen, like a statue. Dad asked what was going on. The man 8 told him that he was frightened of 9 . In my 7-year-old mind, I thought, "But, you're climbing a mountain!" Dad always helped people in trouble. He told the man to 10 him while he led him to a spot below that was 11 by trees, with no view of the valley below. Dad told him to wait there for his group of hikers to come back and 12 him up. Dad taught me sympathy and to help others in need whenever I can.

When we finally reached the top and 13 our group, we sat on the highest point, looking at the breathtaking scenery. I was so 14 we hadn't stopped halfway. Dad taught me, "Don't give up, especially when you're almost there." This has been a valuable 15 that has got me through some big challenges in my life.

It was a typical weekend for Mitch White and his friends. They were out celebrating a bachelor party, sailing the peaceful waters of the Minnesota River. They never expected that this single party would transform from a relaxed canoe trip into a painful rescue mission. With the sun setting, an unexpected bark changed everything.

Led by Mitch White, the soon-to-be-married man, they searched for the source of the sound along the banks of the river. Suddenly, a weak cry for help came from the mud. They were surprised to find that the head of a 13-year-old St. Bernard named Ed was barely visible in the thick mud. Mitch said, "The dog wasn't moving on its own, so we should feed it and give it water. " The dog looked like i had used all its strength.

The men took up their oars（桨） and began digging, their festive mood giving way to a focused rescue mission. It took them more than half an hour to free the trapped dog as it was already breathing very feebly after possibly being trapped for 24 hours. When they got the poor fellow out of the mud, he couldn't walk, so they carried him back to the house. Back home with his owner, George Niskanen, Ed began his slow restoration-a happy ending to a dangerous adventure. George was thankful to the bachelor party heroes.

Now, the people of Carver, Minnesota, have new heroes to cheer for. Indeed, this incredible act of bravery and compassion redefined the meaning of a bachelor party. It became a heroic tale of humanity, friendship, and the instinct（本能）to do what's right.

In 1984, I was a painfully insecure teenage girl from a dysfunctional family, depressed, underweight, and rejected by my classmates. My only comfort was to be the stage manager at our school.

One day, actors from the famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival came to perform for the school. One of them was Barry Kraft, and he was unlike anyone I'd ever met. As I ran around backstage helping him, he treated me with friendliness and respect that he would show for friends in his living room.

He showed up at our drama class and asked everyone to narrate a monologue (独白). To my shock, he took me aside after class and said, "Your monologue was the best. That was really very good."

I made it through graduation and got accepted to college. That summer, I traveled with a friend to see Mr. Kraft perform. During one performance, I gathered up my courage and dropped him a note during the break, saying I was visiting and if he looked he could see us. Almost immediately I regretted sending the note. I thought it was the most presumptuous (冒失的) thing I had ever done.

At the end of the show, he was waiting for me! He smiled broadly and gave me a hug. Then he said, "Would you like to visit backstage?" And off we went. Every time we met someone, he introduced me and said, "She's a very good performer who was a huge help to me at her school visit."

It is difficult to describe how important this man's attention was to me. A successful actor doesn't have to give a depressed teenager the time of day, but he did far more. My confidence had just increased 800 percent. I am now a happily married professional, and whenever I notice a teenager in need, I remember Barry Kraft. He saw a teenager in need of attention and support, and he took the time to help. So now I take the time, too.
