After the birth of my second child, Igot a job at a restaurant. Having worked with an experienced waitress for a few months, I was 1  to wait tables on my own. All went 2 that first week. When Saturday night came, I was luckily given the table not far from the kitchen. 3, I still felt it a little hard to carry the heavy trays(托盘).

    Before I knew it, the restaurant was full of people. I moved slowly, minding every step. I remember how  4 I was when I saw the tray stand（支架） near the tables; it looked different from the one I was 5 on. It had nice handles, which made it  6 to move around. I was pleased with everything and began to believe I was natural at this job.

    Then, an old man came to me and said,“Excuse me, dear, my wife and I love watching you work. It seems your traystand has been very 7to you, but we are getting ready to leave now, and my wife needs her 8back. ”

At first his idea did not get across.“What was he talking about!” Then, I got it. I had set my trays on his wife'sorthopedic walker(助步器). Istood frozen as ice, but my face was 9 . I wanted to get into a hole and hide.

    Since then, I have learned from many mistakes such as the one I just 10 , I have learned to be more careful and not to be sure of myself.

    A boy was walking in the street 1 a man came over 2 him and 3 him the way4 the station.

    The boy was very naughty（顽皮的）. He wanted 5 play a joke on the man. He pointed to6side of the road and said, “Go down the street until you reach a shop. You can find it on your left.” The man thanked him and went away.

    A few minutes 7, the man came back. He said to boy that there was only a bookshop there and he 8 find the station.

    My kids and I decided to go to the supermarket over the weekend. On the way, we saw a man holding a piece of paper that said, " 1 my job. Family to feed."

    At this store, a 2 like this was not normal. My 10-year-old kid noticed him and said it must be awful to have to stand 3 in the cold wind.

    In the store, I asked each of my kids to4 something they thought our "friend" there would appreciate(感激). They got 5 , a sandwich and a bottle of juice. Then my 17-year-old kid suggested giving him a 6 . All the other kids and I thought it was a good idea.

    When we handed him the bag of 7 , he lit up and thanked us with watery 8. When I handed him the gift card, saying he could use it for9his family might need, he burst into tears.

    John Chapman was   11 what the shopkeeper said. At once he went home and dug near an old apple tree. He soon found many pieces of gold. He was so happy 12he gave some of the gold to his church. For the rest of his life, he was a rich man.
