Black or White

    When I was in elementary school, I got into an argument with a boy in my class. The teacher  1 to teach us a very important lesson.

    She brought us up to the front of the 2 and placed him on one side of her desk and 3 on the other. In the middle of her desk was a large, round object. I could 4 see that it was black. She asked the boy what color the object was. "White," he 5.

    I couldn't 6 he said the object was white, when it was clearly black! Another

    7 started between my classmate and me, this time about the 8 of the object.

    The teacher told me to go 9 where the boy was standing 10 told him to come stand where I had been. We changed 11, and now she asked me what the color of the object was. I 12 answer, "White."

    It was an object with two 13 colored sides, and from his viewpoint (视角) it was white. Only from my 14 it was black.

    I have never  15 the lesson I learned that day. Sometimes we need to look at the problem from the other person's viewpoint in order to truly understand his / her view.

With the help of the Internet, shopping is not a difficult job. Just click your mouse to choose the article (物品) you like, and you can finish shopping. You don't need to walk out of the room. It seems easy and quick. But there's a trap(陷阱) online sometimes. If you are careless, it will bring your some trouble. You may find the colour of the article is different from what you want, or the size is too small or too big. If you want to be different, you'd better not buy clathes online. Once you put on the clothes you buy online and go out, you will find many people wear the same clothes in the street.

One day, Miss Foster said to her class, " What are you thankful(感激的) for Please draw a picture of it. " Her students drew different things. Most of them were beautiful, 1 Mark's was different. 

Mark drew a pair of hands(手) and they were very 2 . Miss Foster and the class were surprised. They looked at the picture and talked about who had such dirty hands. 

Then Miss Foster 3 Mark about the hands in the picture. The boy looked into her eyes and said, They are my father's. My father 4 in a coal mine(煤矿). His hands are 5 dirt y because of coal. But he can do a lot of things with his hands in the mine. He always works hard to 6 our family. I am thankful for what he does. 

The students were quiet after they listened to Mark's story. They thought of their7 . 

Miss Foster was happy. The students learned a big lesson from Mark's 8 . In our lives, our parents are always working hard to help us live a9 life. We might not always say10 . But we need to keep them in mind and be thankful for what they do for us. 

Respecting teachers has always been a tradition in China. Once there was a man who wanted to learn from a famous

philosopher(哲学家),.One day, he and his schoolmates had different opinions on a question. To get a1 answer, he went to visit the philosopher. In front of the door of the philosopher's house,2 the guarding kid told him that the philosopher was meditating(冥想)in his room and asked the man to go back. He 3 to leave, so the little boy left him alone and went in.

After a while, it began to snow4 . The little boy came out again and reminded the man that the philosopher might spend the whole afternoon meditating. He invited the man to,5 himself in the house to avoid the wind and snow. But the man kept standing in the snow and waiting outside in order that he could ask the philosopher's 6 on the question.

As soon as the philosopher finished meditating, the boy reported that the man was waiting outside. When 7 this. the philosopher came out to see the man. When the door was opened, everyone was 8 . The snow was more than a foot deep, but the man stood still9 moving his feet, "* Young man, why are you so silly? You could have come again someday! " The philosopher took the man to the room at once.

"As a student… if l want to learn from the teacher… l should ... of course…respectfully wait outside.." said the man, shaking with cold.

The philosopher was very happy and accepted the man as his student because of his politeness and effort to learn. He taught the man all his philosophical thoughts, That made a big,10 to the man's life. Later, the man really learned a lot and made great contributions (贡献)to his country.

Mrs. Grady welcomed her class back into the warm, cheerful room. The children sat down at their desks, still talking about what they did over winter vacation. It took a few minutes for Mrs. Grady to get them 1 down. 

 "I'm glad to see you all back! Since it's the 2 of the new year, I thought we'd talk about something people do at this time. It's called making resolutions. Does anyone know what that means?" Mrs. Grady asked. 

Liamput up his hand, "You mean like when my mom says she's going to 3 eating chocolate, but she eats it anyway?" Some of the students laughed 4 , Mrs. Grandy put her hand in front of her mouth and made a "shh" sound, she seemed to disagree with this answer, moving her head from side to side. 

"Any other ideas?" she asked, 5 the students who were still laughing. Olivia put up her hand. "It's when you decide to do something 6 for the new year," "That's 7 !" Mrs. Grady said. "In fact, you can make resolutions whenever you want to. The point is that you make a 8 start to make yourselves become better or try new things."

Ashley spoke up. "My dad said his resolution is to keep 9 every day!" "That's a good example of making a healthy resolution," Mrs. Grady said. "But let's think of resolutions for 10 ." Hands went up, and students came up with things like eating more vegetables, drinking more water and so on. Mrs. Grady 11 those were good ones. 

Max put up his hand. "I'm going to learn to play basketball." "That's a great resolution," Mrs. Grady said. "trying new 12 is a fun choice."

Then Emma asked, "What about being nicer?" Mrs. Grady smiled. "Yes, being 13 is a wonderful resolution."

Lots of hands went up. The students were excited to 14 all the different sports and activities they took part in or would be starting soon. 

"Those are all 15 of good resolutions. Now, I want each of you to write about a resolution you could make this year." The children got to work. 

It is very helpful for students to have hobbies. Some hobbies can make you grow as a  {#blank#}1{#/blank#} and develop your interests. They will also help you learn new skills. 

David has many hobbies. One of them is writing. During the summer of 2010, he spent four {#blank#}2{#/blank#} at a summer camp. There were some daily  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} , such as climbing and sailing. There was also a writing class. The teacher asked students to talk about their lives and tell interesting stories. Then she {#blank#}4{#/blank#} them to write about their experiences at the camp. 

 {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the teacher's help, David wrote a story about the life of a sixteen-year-old boy after going back to school. It came out {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a book in 2012. The book is so interesting that it is very popular with young people.{#blank#}7{#/blank#} , more and more people knew him and wanted to read more of his books. David enjoys writing, and he will keep writing more good books. It is his hobby that brings him pleasure and {#blank#}8{#/blank#} . David is also {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in doing sports, such as playing ping-pong and volleyball. He often spends his free time {#blank#}10{#/blank#} volleyball with the school team. Perhaps he will write stories about his volleyball team in his future books.
