Memories about Teachers

    Recently we made a survey (调查)and asked a large number of people to tell us about their teachers. Here is what they remembered about their teachers:

    "What teachers do I remember? Well, I remember my first teacher. She was so kind and pretty, and she told us many interesting stories."

    "I remember an English teacher . he always had colored socks: red, green, even orange,"

    "I remember a math teacher. She was always dressed very well. I couldn't stop looking at her. I wanted to be like her."

    "Our chemistry teacher. He was so strict. We were afraid of him. I don't think he liked us."

    "The physics teacher was so boring. He could make us fall asleep very quickly."

    "One year we had a really good Chinese language teacher. He was very patient and told very funny stories. He was popular with all the class. We always worked hard for him. We are his friends,"

    "The P.E. teacher always said I was stupid. I thought teachers should give us encouragement. I am not interested in sports because of him."

    "I had one history teacher who always wore clothes of the same color. In three years I never saw him change."

    "I remember two teachers well. One was my music teacher who was very active, and usually had a loud voice. The other was my computer teacher, who was very serious, but here ally helped me when I had problems at any time."

    There was a man    ①    had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them to go and look at a pear tree far away in turns．

    The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall    ②    they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe    ③    they had seen. The first son said     ④    the tree was ugly. The second son said no-it was covered with green leaves and full of hope. The third son disagreed, he said there were many flowers that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most wonderful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them, he said there was lots of fruit on the tree,full of life and harvest.

    The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, but they had each seen only one season in the tree's life. He told them, "You cannot judge a tree, or a person by only one season and its true nature--the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured (测量)at the end, when all the seasons are up.＂

    Service on the 102-km high-speed railway between Shenzhen and Guangzhou started on December 26, 2011. A non-stop trip between the Guangzhou South Station and the Shenzhen North Station takes 35 minutes at full speed.

    The train runs at the highest speed of 300 km per hour. All 36 pairs of trains run every day. A one-way first-class ticket costs 100 yuan. A second-class one costs 75 yuan, 5 yuan cheaper than a second-class ticket on the slower line.

    A high-speed train has 556 seats, including 16 seats in the VIP rooms and 50 in the first-class carriage (车厢). It offers more advanced facilities (先进的设施). For example, the seats are more comfortable, there are toilets for the disabled (残疾人), and there are power outlets (电源插座) in the first-class carriage.

    The high-speed service between Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be a convenient choice for many people. “I won't need to travel to the Guangzhou East Station to take a train to Shenzhen,” said Wang Yi, who lives in Panyu district in Guangzhou.

    Many people still prefer the slower trains, because the terminals (终点站) of the high-speed trains are far away from the centres of both cities. “I would not like to take a high-speed train to Shenzhen. I live in the centre of Guangzhou. First I have to get to the Guangzhou South Station. It is a waste of time for me,” said Zhang Lu.

    I'm going to have a party on September 27. It's my 12th birthday. I would like to enjoy this day with my family members and friends together.

    There is a lot of fun at the party. My mum wants to cook a lot of Chinese food for us. Because September 27, 2015 is also the Mid-Autumn Festival, my grandma says she can make some moon cakes. You never eat them, right? They are delicious. There are also film DVDs and fun games for us. I'm sure all of us can have great fun on that day.

    Students in Japan are trying a new kind of travelling. In the past they could only go to the museums. That was boring for the teenagers. They often went by bus. Many of them felt sleepy in the museum. But now they can go out of doors. They can go to factories, villages and many other places they like.

    Experiential education (体验式教育) is now very popular in North America. It is also becoming more and more popular in Japan. Just look at the JTB, Japan's biggest travel agency. It has more than 300 different travel programs for students and schools. More than 25 schools have taken part in the programs.

    Where are the students going? They travel to fishing villages in Kyushu and farming villages in China. Some even go to English classes in England. Wherever they go, they enjoy helping the disabled(残疾的). By doing so, they learn how to take care of others. It's an experience that students will never forget.

    Travelling in Japan also does the farmers and fishermen good. Now there are many people visiting their villages. Visitors' coming every year brings them a lot of money and a better life.
