Jane is from America. She is in China with her parents. Now she is writing an e- mail to her1 back home.

 Mary and Lisa are twin(双胞胎) sisters. They study (学习) in the same school but they aren't in the same class. They lives on a farm. They like animals very much. They have six sheep (羊), three horses (23) and ten chickens on their farm.

 One day, Mary's good friend, Lily goes to visit Mary."I have a white rabbit," Lily says." It is from my cousın Jack. But I can't find a nice home for it to live in. Can you give me some ideas?

" Yes," Mary says." You can bring (带来) your rabbit here. I think it will be happy to live on my farm. And you can come to take care of(照顾) the rabbit at any time."

 Lily is very happy. The next day, Lily takes her rabbit to Mary's farm. And the two girls give the rabbit a name — Bubbles. Now, Bubbles has a nice new home. It lives on the farm with other animals there.

My name is Henry Adams. When I was 27, I worked in San Francisco. One Saturday afternoon, I sailed my little boat but a strong wind pushed my boat into the Pacific Ocean. Luckily, I was saved by a British ship heading to London.

I had only one dollar when I arrived in I ondon. I was tired and hungry. At that moment, the window of a nearby house opened and a man said to me, "Come in here, please."I was taken to a beautiful room. There were two old gentlemen discussing something.     ① 

The two gentlemen were brothers.  ②  One brother said, "If an honest and clever stranger arrives in London without friends and money, except for a £1,00,000 bank note, he will starve to death. If he goes to the bank to change this big note, the police will think he stole it and arrest（逮捕）him." The other brother answered, "No, I disagree."

The two gentlemen decided to end their argument with a bet（赌约）.  ③  They chose me because I had an honest, clever face. Also, I was a stranger to England. One of them gave me an envelope and told me not to open it until I was in my hotel room.

 ④  After leaving the house, I opened the envelope and saw money inside of it! I rushed to the nearest restaurant. After eating, I tried to pay with the money but discovered that it was a bank note worth five million dollars! It made my head swim. No one could possibly cash（兑现金）it. The owner said, "You can pay for the meal whenever you want, sir. I understand that you are a rich gentleman. You like playing jokes on people by dressing like a poor man."

I quickly returned to the house but was told that they had left on a trip. Then I remembered the letter inside the envelope. It said, "In this envelope you will find some money. It is yours for only 30 days. At the end of that time, return to this house. We have a bet on you." How strange!

Then, I entered a clothes store to buy a cheap suit. When I showed the owner the bank note, he was angry since the salesman sold me such terrible suit.

Maybe we three were the most unlucky graduates in our school history. I' ll never forget the day when we had our graduation ceremony(毕业典礼). 

I was known for being careless. I often fell down for no reason. Since I fell off the stage(舞台), my family bet that I would fall down again during my graduation ceremony. The day came so quickly. This time, I proudly made it through the whole ceremony without falling. But I knocked over the whole backdrop(背景板) which was used to take pictures for graduates. I felt so embarrassed the whole morning. 

My friend Julia was even more embarrassed. When she together with all the graduates was sitting quietly in the hall at eight in the morning, she didn't expect her father to come to attend her ceremony because he was really busy then. The hall was very quiet and you could even hear a pin(针) drop on the ground. When all of a sudden, out of the silence, she heard"Hey, Julia!". Everyone in the hall looked behind and found Julia's father, with a camera in his hand, smiling at her!

Tiffany was the most beautiful girl of us three. She loved all kinds of dresses. On that day, she dressed herself beautifully and wanted to have some beautiful photos. Unluckily, it was one of the windiest days of our life. The wind blew her beautiful dress up in front of the whole graduate class! She didn't know whether to cry or laugh. 

Lucky? Unlucky? So lucky! All of these became the unforgettable part of our life!

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a group of people who were known for their complaining(抱怨). They met at the town 1 every day, and their talks were always sad and negative (消极的). It seemed like 2 could ever change their minds or lift their spirits.

One sunny afternoon, a wise man entered the village. He had 3 the villagers and their habit of complaining, and he decided to pay them a visit. As he got closer to the group, he listened quietly to their problems and then did something 4 .

 At first, he could only speak some 4 Chinese. To improve his Chinese, he 5  a language program when he came to China. The school day was 6 and hard. Each morning, the sound of the wake-up call would ring at 6:30. Class lasted until 5:15 pm each day, and then he had three 7 of night study in the evening. Each day he attended listening, speaking, reading and writing classes. 8 PE and music classes were in Chinese. For a16-year-old English boy, this was a shock. But he learned Chinese quite well.

 Alex said it took him much time to learn Chinese. But once he mastered (掌握) it, chances started presenting themselves 9 . Everyone wanted him to work for them. At that moment, he was 10 what he did. He decided to keep working hard on it.
