The Spring festival is an important holiday in China. Most Chinese families celebrate it. 

It is always in January or February. It is often cold at this time of year, but people are happy. Family members get together and then have a big dinner. After dinner, people like to watch TV. There is a great Spring Festival on TV every year. Children have lots of fun on this day. We get presents. Usually our parents get new clothes ready for us, and we get red packets from our grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. We like to let off fireworks at night. They are really wonderful.

If you want to go shopping, think about how much money you can spend for new clothes.Think about the kind of clothes you really need.Then look for those clothes on sale.

There are labels (标签) inside all new clothes.The labels tell you how to take care of your clothes.The label for a shirt may tell you to wash it in warm water. A sweater label may tell you to wash it in cold water.The label on a coat may say "dry clean only". Washing with water may ruin (损坏) this coat. If you do as the directions on the label, you can keep your clothes looking their best.Many clothes today must be dry cleaned.Dry cleaning is expensive. When buying new clothes, check to see if they need to be dry cleaned.You will save money if you buy clothes that can be washed with water.

You can save money if you buy clothes that are well made.Well-made clothes last longer.They look good even after they have been washed many times. However, clothes that cost more money are not always better made.They do not always fit better.Sometimes less expensive clothes look and fit better than more expensive clothes.

How can you remember a song for a long time? Why does your teacher use songs to teach you English? There is a scientific reason for this. 

Researchers (研究者) are studying the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language. "Singing could be a new way of learning, especially for a foreign language. The brain likes to remember things in a catchy (悦耳易记的) and relaxing way. For example, children can remember difficult words quickly when they are in a song," said Dr. Karen Ludke. If children find it difficult to learn foreign languages, this new way may help. On his blog (博客), Dr. Ludke wrote "A listen—and—repeat singing way can help to learn foreign languages and open the door for future research in this area."

Many language teachers know the importance of music and they often use it in teaching and learning. Hua Zhuying, a teacher at a Chinese language school in Washington DC, likes using songs in teaching Chinese. She said, "I use music all the time to teach children Chinese. For little kids usually we use English songs but teach them the Chinese lyrics. Not only does it work, but it is fun for children. Sometimes I think if I learned English that way when I was young, maybe I could speak English much better."

Our brain likes music in learning languages, especially for remembering. If you are still having problems in learning a language, why not try singing it out?

Do you like animals? There is a kind of animal in the South Pole(南极). It has wings and feathers(羽毛), but it can't fly. It is the penguin. 

People found penguins in 1488. Hundreds of years later, people gave them this nice name. They are not tall and they are a little heavy. When they walk, they look very funny. They have a lot of black and white feathers. They make penguins look cute and keep them warm. So they can live in very cold places. 

Penguins can't fly in the air, but they are great swimmers. Penguins spend quite a lot of their time in the water. Sometimes they can stay under the water for about eighteen minutes. Are they practising swimming? No, they are searching for food. What do they usually eat? Little fish is their main food. 

①Sometimes you may find it hard to make more progress(进步) in your study. At this time, I think you need to change yourself. Here are some great ways for you to make more progress. 

②First, use notebooks. Take one notebook with you in class and write down what the teacher says. This way will help you remember things well. 

③Then, have a good sleep. Sleep is really important to each of us. Middle school students need to sleep at least(至少) nine hours a night. But do you know how to have a good sleep? First of all, try to keep the same sleeping time every night, even at weekends. Then, drink a glass of milk before you go to bed. I think these are good ways to help you have a good sleep. 

④Next, know when you work best. There are many studies showing advantages(好处) of night- time studying and early- morning studying. If you work late at night, make sure to give yourself some time to sleep in the morning. 

⑤Last, make good use of your learning way. Find out as many learning ways as possible(可能) first, and then try to find which way is appropriate for you and use it often.
