A few days ago, I ran into a stranger as he passed by. I said sorry1him, and he said, "Excuse me too, I wasn't even noticing you,"2this stranger and I were polite. Then we went on our way after saying goodbye

    Later in the kitchen at home,3I was cooking our supper, my daughter Betty walked up to me, very4. When I turned around, I nearly5her down. "Get out of the way! "I shouted angrily. She ran away, crying.

    That night, when I6in bed, my husband said to me, "You were so rude to Betty. Go and look around on the kitchen floor, and you'll find some7 there. Betty brought those for you. She picked them,8— pink, yellow, and your favourite blue."

    When I heard this, I thought deeply. While9with a stranger, I was calm and polite. But with my daughter, I was not10. I felt sad and tears began to fall.

    Then I went to Betty's11, "Wake up, my dear," I said." Are these the flowers you picked for me? "She smiled." I found them by the tree, I knew you liked them,12the blue ones." I said, "I was so rude13I treated you that way today. Betty, I am so sorry." And she said, "Mummy, that's okay--I still love you anyway." I kissed her and said, "I love you too and I do love the flowers."

    That day Betty gave me a special14on how to get along with each other in the family. I spent much time on work before and didn't15how important family life was. I decided to do better in the future.

    Once upon a time, there lived a little boy one night, when the boy was sleeping, his hands, feet and eyes started 1 who was the most important.

    "We're the most important," the eyes said. "Without us, the 2  wouldn't know where to go, and the hands wouldn't know what to take."

    "No," the hands didn't 3 the eyes. "Sure, the eyes can see, but we're the ones playing with toys."

    "It is certain that we are the most important," the feet shouted. "We're the ones that run to the toys in the first place."

    An elf(精灵)that lived on a bookshelf full of storybooks next to the boy's bed 4 the argument.

    "All of you made a 5," he said. The hands, eyes and feet asked why.

    "I think you are 6 on your own. But together you make up a 7 body," the elf replied, "All of you have an important task: to 8 the boy and to help him in every way."

    After hearing the elf's words, they 9 that they were all very important to the boy. Then they never argued with each other. 10, they became friends and always worked together.

    When I was five, I had cancer ( 癌 症). My family learned about an organization that provided photography (摄影) classes to kids 1   cancer. I took the classes and learned how to 2a camera and how to take photos in different lighting situations. Taking photos made me 3about being sick for a while.

    At first, most of my photos were of4little dog, Charlie. I took pictures of him sleeping or playing. I also took pictures of 5 like flowers, trees and rivers. I 6 took photos of a little mouse once.

    Last year, I got invited to be a photographer on the red carpet (地毯) of  a big show in Los Angeles. I was so excited 7I could take photos of famous people. It was my first time to get close to them! It felt 8.

    Being a photographer and taking photos makes me feel happy. Now I want to 9what I have learned with other kids. I can't wait to pass on everything I've learned about photography and make other 10feel great, too.

Here is a story: A man sees a butterfly (蝴蝶). The butterfly tries to get out of its chrysalis (蛹). Feeling sorry for it, the man decides to help. He cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. Surprisingly enough, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesn't struggle (挣扎，奋斗) to leave the chrysalis, it can't fly! The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly which makes it fly. Similarly, the challenges (挑战) of life bring out the best in young people and make them fly.

When people are young, meeting and overcoming (克服) challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. When we look at successful people, we see that the most successful of them are people who have had to struggle. One famous businessman, who now owns many supermarkets, used to carry clothes on his back and sell them from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Dennis. His father died when he was only twenty. His father's death forced him to mature fast. He had to bring up a family of nine people. He took up the challenges and overcame them. Today his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives.

Sometimes challenges do not appear to us because we keep away from them. So some parents and teachers actively encourage young people to face challenges. They might organize some activities for young people which provide them with challenges, like rock-climbing, camping, volunteer work and so on. However, just passing exams will not prepare a person for life. We must meet and overcome challenges. The young people of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. For countries to continue to become successful, it is important that the young people learn to meet challenges and overcome them.
