A young painter had just completed a beautiful painting. To get people's opinions about his painting skills, he put his 1at a crossing on a busy street. And below it a board read, "Gentlemen, I have painted this piece. 2 I'm new, I might have made some mistakes in my work. Please put a cross  3you see a mistake."

    When he came back in the evening to 4his painting, he was completely shocked to see that the whole painting was filled 5 crosses. And some people had even written their opinions on the painting. 6 , he ran to his master and said to him, "I'm 7and if this is what I have learned to paint, I'm not worth teaching. "

    The master 8and suggested, "I'll let you know that you are a great 9. Now go to paint the same painting once again and give it to 10."

Then they went to the same street the next morning and put the same painting exactly at the same place. Now the master  11another board which read, "Gentlemen, I have painted this piece. I might have made some mistakes in my painting. I have put a box with colors and 12 just below. Please give me a hand. If you see a 13, pick up the brush and correct it." The master and the young painter went back home. Two days later, they came back to the place. The young painter was  14to see that actually there was not a single correction done!

    It's easier to criticize(批评) but difficult to improve. If you want to help people  15 their behavior, you'd better learn how to help people change their attitudes or skills. Also, always remember not to judge yourself by someone else's criticism and feel upset.

    Mr. Black was over fifty years old. He sometimes made some mistakes in his work, and he lost his work. So he had1time every day to do something. Then he often met his old friends under a big tree. They had drinks there and2anything they liked.

    One day, some old men were sitting together again and talking about young people in this world. They all agreed that the old people were3than young people. Then one of the old4said that young men were stronger than old men.

5of them agreed that this was true,6Mr. Black didn't. He said, "No. I am as strong now as when I was a young man." His friends were surprised7what he said.

"Well," said Mr. Black, "Near my house there is a big stone. When I was a young man, I used8to move it, but I couldn't because I was not9. I am an old man now, and when I try to move it, I still10. So, I am as strong as when I was young."

    Tom brought a box of biscuits to a summer camp. He ate a few and places the rest under his bed. After lunch, he found the box was gone. He went to tell his camp 1 about it.

    The next day, the coach saw a boy eating Tom's biscuits behind a tree. He 2  an idea to solve the problem. He found Tom and said to him," I know who 3  your biscuits. Will you help me to teach him a 4 ?"

   "Well, yes… are you going to punish him, sir?"  Tom asked." No, I am not," the coach explained 5." That would only make him hate you. I want you to write to your mother and ask for more 6."

    Tom receives another box of biscuits by mail from his mother a few days later." Now," said the coach," go and 7  them with the boy who stole your biscuits." Tom didn't understand the coach's intention(意图), 8  he still followed his advice.

    Half an hour later the coach saw the two boys come up the hill, arm in arm. The boy was trying to ask Tom to 9  his toy robot in payment for the stolen biscuits. And Tom was refusing the gift from his new friend. He said that a few biscuits were not so 10 .

    In some situations, forgiveness(原谅) is better than punishment.

    Yesterday I went to my daughters school , I gave a report（报告） about kindness(友爱) to 60 kids and their 1. After the report, I2 them to write a small story about it.

    After school. I was 3 for my daughter at the school gate. A little boy came to me and said." You know, I enjoyed your report today," "Okay, then are you going to write a lovely story?" I asked." But I'm not good4 writing." the boy answered. I told him that I would be happy 5 he could just write a word(词) or two about kindness. Then he just told me that he was Tony and he could only write down two words. I was happy to 6  that.

    I knew I didn't have time to talk to him too much because he was in a hurry (匆忙)to meet his friends. In my 7, it was a kind act that he could stop to talk to me for two 8  and let me know that he enjoyed my report. I got some reports back from the children and teachers. In the end, I opened a report.9 said "Thank you! Tony." It's his kindness. I10 happy that I did something meaningful(有意义的) for all the kids in the class.

    Vincent Williams went to a boarding school. Here is one of the letters he wrote to his 1 from the school.

Dearest Mom and Dad,

    I'm afraid I have something terrible to tell you. I have been very naughty and the school principal(校长) is very 2 with me. She is going to write to you. I have to be3   from here by you. She does not want me in the school any longer.

    The trouble started last night when I was 4 in bed. This is against the rules, of course. We are not 5 to smoke at all.

    The principal said that the fire was all my fault and she will send you a bill for the damage(损坏). The damage will 10 you two thousand dollars.

    I'm very sorry about this. I won't break any rules. I promise.
