Once there was a boy named Jimmy. He started drawing when he was three years old, and when he was five he was already very     1 at it. He drew many beautiful and interesting pictures, and many people 2 his pictures. They thought this boy was going to be 3 when he was a little older, and then they were going to 4 these pictures for a lot of money.

    Jimmy's pictures were quite different from other 5, because he never drew on all of the paper. He drew on 6 of it, and the other half was always 7.

    “That's very 8,” everybody said. “No other people have ever done that before”.

    One day, somebody asked him, “Please 9 me, Jimmy. Why do you draw on the bottom (底部) half of your pictures, but not on the top half.”

    “Because I'm small,” Jimmy said, “and my brushes can't 10 very high.”

Today, I felt bad after dinner. So I went out and took a walk in the street at 7:00 pm. While I was walking, I saw an old man selling vegetables. He looked very tired and nobody was buying his vegetables. I wanted to give him something but I brought nothing with me.

Then, a little girl went to him and said,"Excuse me, may I polish(擦亮) your shoes? I need money to buy a new school uniform (校服)."The old man answered,"Oh! Come with me and I will buy you a school uniform." Then they walked to a shop and he bought her a school uniform. The girl thanked him and left happily, leaving the old man smiling.

The old man walked away from the shop, but then I stopped him. I said, "You make the best day of my life. Thank you for your kindness!"As I walked away, I looked back and I could see him still smiling. I felt better and walked home.

An old man was sitting on the sofa with Mike, his 45-year-old son. Suddenly a dove (鸽子) landed on the ground. 

The father asked his son, "What is this?"

The son replied, "It is a dove."

After a few minutes, the father asked his son for the second time, "What is this?"

The son said, "Father, I have just told you. It's a dove."

After a little while, the old father asked his son for the third time, "What is this?"

This time Mike could not control his anger and shouted, "It's a dove, a dove. Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again? I have told you so many times 'IT IS A DOVE!' Don't you understand this?"

The old man silently took out an old diary, turned to a page and showed it to Mike. Though a little impatient (不耐烦), Mike began to read it. 

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a dove landed on the ground, and my son asked me what it was. I smiled at him, said it was a dove and hugged (拥抱) him. After a while Mike asked me again and I did the same. Pointing to the same dove, little Mike asked me what it was 23 times and I kept on answering his question and hugging him every time."

Something gently touched Mike's heart. His face turned red with shame for being so impatient to his father and he hugged him tightly (紧紧地). 

Your parents have given you many things in their lifetime, but you may not realize that until they are gone. 

Gina is my best friend. She is{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(十二) years old. She lives in Beijing , which is an old{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(城市) in China. We are at the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(相同) class. Chinese is her favourite subject, and she often reads books after school. She likes{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(绿色). Just like me, she also thinks it is the{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(颜色) of new life.

Gina has many hobbies. She and her parents like {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(观看) TV very much. She thinks it's {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(令人愉快的) to enjoy it with family, especially on weekends.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (棒球) is her favourite sport. And we often play it together on Friday. And then we have some ice{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(牛奶) together.

In my eyes, she is a helpful{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(女孩) because she always helps me with my lessons. It's great to be her friend. We all like her very much.

Jenny lived in a small village. When she was a child, what she liked to do most was to watch the blue sky and enjoy birds flying freely in the sky. She always 1  that some day she could also fly like a bird. 

When Jenny was in the fourth grade, her teacher asked them to write a passage about their 2 . In it, she wrote that she wanted to become an airplane pilot in the future. However, to her surprise, her paper came back with an"F" on it. Jenny felt 3  and sad. In her heart, she didn't want to 4  her teacher's opinion. Why was it impossible? But the people 5  Jenny didn't support her and told her over and over again, "Girls 6  become pilots, never have, and never will. You' re crazy. " Finally, Jenny felt hopeless and 7  her dream. 

Jenny was in senior high school several 8  later. One day her English teacher, Mrs Slaton, gave the class a 9  about what they would be doing in the future. Jenny thought hard about it, "Pilot? No way! Artist? No talent! Waitress? I can do it. "10  she wrote it down. What Jenny wrote surprised Mrs Slaton, "Is that what you are really interested in? I think you will be 11  to do something full of more challenges. " Jenny felt excited, but she was still 12  that she would be laughed at again. The teacher continued, "Every one of you owns talent. If you don't go for your dream, 13  will do it for you. " Hearing that, with great courage she wrote down her old dream. 

Mrs Slaton's words 14  Jenny a lot. After ten years of hard work, Jenny's dream came true. She became an excellent 15  in the world. Stick to your dream if it's what you really want!
