English is very important to us. Here are two tips of learning English.
Read an English book, newspaper or magazine.
Reading is a necessary part of learning a new language, so don't forget to read! Find something you are really interested in whether that's a famous English novel, a copy of The New York Times, or a fashion magazine, and then start working your way through it. If you find the content(内容) boring, you will be less inclined(倾向于······的)to continue with it.
Again, make an active effort to actually understand what you're reading;don't just skim over it. Mark any words or phrases that you don't understand, and then look them up in the dictionary.
If you're alone, you could also try reading aloud. You will get the benefits of reading aloud. For example, this will allow you to improve your reading comprehension(理解力)as well as your pronunciation.
Keep a diary in English.
Besides reading and listening comprehension, you should also spend some time improving your written English skills. This may be one of the most difficult aspects of your language learning, but it is really important. Writing in English will help you to work on your sentence structure, grammar and spelling.
Try to keep an English diary in which you write down a few sentences every day. It doesn't have to be deeply personal. You could write about the weather, what you ate for dinner or what your plans are for the day.If you feel comfortable with it, get a native speaker to look over what you've written and check it for any mistakes. This will help you to avoid making the same mistakes over and over again.
When going shopping, I sometimes get a direct "No bargaining (讨价还价)" in return. Is it not good to bargain here? As a newcomer, I know little about the table manners(餐桌礼仪) in China. She didn't open it when she received it. Didn't she like my gift? Last night, I had dinner with a Chinese friend. I wanted to pay for my share of the meal but he fought(争抢) to pay for the whole meal himself. | A. Normally, you're supposed to take off your shoes before entering a Chinese person's home. But don't worry. There will be slippers for you. B. Actually it's very common to ask for lower prices in China. After a few minutes' bargaining, you might get 50% off. C. It's not like that. You should never expect Chinese to open gifts in front of you as this is considered impolite in China. D. If you plan to give a gift to a Chinese, be aware that things like clocks, pears, and knives are considered to bring bad luck. E. Well, there are several rules about using chopsticks. Don't stick them into the food, or point at others with them. F. Take it easy! Most Chinese people fight over the bill to show their friendliness. Maybe you can treat him next time. G. Every year on June21,skateboarders around the world celebrate their festival-Go Skateboarding Day. Do you know where this cool sport came from?
It started with some California surfers in the 1950s. For them, surfing is a way of life. They spent a lot of time in the ocean and basically lived on the beach Soon, some surfers wanted a way to surf on land. They started putting wheels on the bottom of wooden boards and using them to get around.
Surfers called this new sport"sidewalk surfing". This early form of skateboarding was
dangerous. Many people fell off their skateboards and hurt themselves while practicing. Soon, sports stores began selling thinner skateboards that were easier to control. They also made helmets and kneepads(护膝) to protect players. The new sport became safer and more people got interested in it In 1973, American skateboarder Alan Gelfand created the first skateboarding trick called the
"Ollie".In this trick, the skateboarder and the skateboard both leap into the air without the use of the skateboarder's hands. Soon, skateboarders all over the world were trying to copy this trick. Since then, many new tricks have been invented and skateboarding has continued to develop. The sport even made it into the Tokyo Olympics. It has come a long way from the early days of"sidewalk surfing"!
