Some people still live in their hometown. 1, others may only see it once or twice a year. Today, millions of Chinese people leave the countryside to find jobs in big cities. Among these is Zhong Wei, a 46-year-old husband and father. He has been living in Wenzhou for the last 13 years. With a hard job in a crayon factory, he doesn't find much time to visit his hometown. "I used to 2 home at least once a year, but I haven't been back for almost three years. It's a shame, but I just don't have the time," he said.
Many people like Zhong Wei wonder with great 3 how their hometowns have changed. Maybe large hospitals and new roads have appeared(出现). In many places, the government has built new schools and sent 4 from the cities to help.
"I noticed, my hometown is like this," Zhong added. "Children have learned to read and count at my old primary school since the mid-20th Century. But now the buildings are very old. I hear that they will build a new school there." Zhong Wei believes such developments are 5, he also knows that his hometown cannot always stay the same.
According to Zhong Wei, however, some things will 6 change. "In my hometown, there is a big old 7 in the school. Still there, it 8 a symbol of the place. Most of the children in my time liked to play together under the big tree, especially during the summer holidays. It was really a 9 childhood. Our hometown has left 10 soft and sweet memories in our hearts."
Dear Mum and Dad,
I promised to write, so…
We're staying with Lingling's uncle in Hunan Province, and I'm having a wonderful time here in Zhangjiajie. It's a magic land of mountains, forests and rivers. It's very large, about 480 square kilometres. It's famous for the strange shape of its tall rocks. Some of them look like humans while others look like wild animals.
Last night we camped by a small lake. During the night, we heard a noise! It woke everybody up. We thought somebody was moving about. Lingling's uncle said it was an animal. We came out without making any noise, and found it was just a hungry monkey looking for food.
This morning, we climbed Mount Tianzi! From the top we hoped to see the lakes and forests. But it was a pity that it was cloudy. We could only see the mountain tops above the clouds. Then we walked down the path along a river, past trees and other plants and back to the camp. I pulled a leaf off a plant, but Lingling's uncle said that it was wrong to pull leaves off plants and that we should protect everything here. I was very sorry.
Tomorrow we're going to Dongting Lake, the second-largest lake in China.
We'll be back home next week! Wish you were here!
Love,
Betty
Chinese tourists flock(涌入) to Morocco(摩洛哥) during Spring Festival
In the Chinese restaurant of Chefchaouen, one of the top tourist attractions(旅游景点) in Morocco, an area of less than 100 square meters was full of more than a hundred Chinese tourists, with a lot more waiting outside, during the Chinese Spring Festival.
"Boss, can I have my Kung-Pao Chicken now?" "Boss, is my beef noodles ready?" Some visitors were not patient enough to wait long for their ordered foods. Restaurant owner said that during the Spring Festival, her business was much better than usual.
Another Chinese restaurant owner in Fes, Morocco's central city, had the same experience. The waiters said during the Spring Festival, a large number of Chinese tourists waited in lines for meals every day.
In the southern Moroccan town of Marrakech, tourist buses full of Chinese tourists can be found everywhere during the Spring Festival.
In Majorelle Garden, a famous tourist attraction, two girls from Ningbo, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, said they chose Morocco as their Spring Festival travel place to taste the country's special food.
Morocco's Minister of Tourism Mohamed Sajid said it hopes to attract(吸引) 500,000 Chinese tourists each year by 2020.
Sajid also said Morocco is working to improve hotels, transports and tourist reception. He said direct flights(直达航班) between Morocco and China are being discussed, which is one of the key factors to attract Chinese tourists.
Good morning, boys and girls. Today I'll talk about going online.
We know that there are too many net bars around us. The Internet can make our lives interesting and enjoyable. Many of us like going online very much because we can learn how to use the computer. We can learn English and read some newspapers and magazines to know more information around us. It can make us clever in playing computer games. Also we can send e-mails to our friends quickly. It can help us contact(联络,联系) people from all over the world.
But some students spend too much time in playing computer games and some stay in the net bars all day and all night. Some girls even get to have boyfriends or some boys get to have girlfriends online. They write too many letters to each other. It takes them too much time to chat online so they do worse in their lessons and they don't study well any more.
I think we mustn't get online when it is time for us to study. We can do it in summer or winter holidays. I think we should get online with our teachers or parents.
At the same time, if we have lots of free time, we can do some activities after class. We usually have activities from 4:50 to 5:50 in the afternoon. You can play basketball or football. We also have some interest groups in school, such as drawing, singing and dancing. We can go to the English corner on Monday afternoon. We hope we can spend more time on our subjects or on such activities that we can learn a lot from and less time on the Internet.
