In the deep blue Indian Ocean, there's a beautiful island (岛) country called Maldives(马尔代夫). It's the smallest in population and area of all the Asian countries. It has an area of 90,000 km², but 99% of the area is covered by the sea. It has 1,190 islands and is about 820 km from North to South. People live on no more than 200 islands, while another 87 are visited by tourists. Some of the islands are only used for fishing or farming. The capital Maléis is on one of the middle islands, and about 75,000 people live there. The people there are friendly and welcoming. They use their traditional games to welcome people from all over the world. It is sunny on the islands almost every day, and makes them look so beautiful. People can enjoy lots of things in Maldives.

Which day is the most important for you? Your birthday, the first day of your work or the day you win a prize. Many teenagers may think their birthday is the happiest time because they can receive many wonderful presents and have much fun with their friends. Others may regard the starting day of their work as the most meaningful. They think it's the first big step in their life and they can depend on themselves. They like to deal with challenges rather than to ask for the help of adults.
According to a survey, more than half of the Chinese people, certain ages and birthdays are especially important. One hundred days after a baby's birth has special meaning. On that day, relatives(亲戚) and friends come to bless the baby. In northern part of China, like Inner Mongolia, a child's 12th birthday is a big day. This is when a child becomes a teenager. Eighteen is another important age, which means you must be responsible(负责任的) for what you have done in laws. As for adults, maybe the anniversary of their marriage(结婚周年庆) is the most important. For some old people, the 60th or 70th birthday is also very important. They like to be cared about by all his family and friends, and the big family get-together can provide them a good chance to recall(回忆) the past.

    There is a saying, “China has the best teahouses in the world and Chengdu has the best teahouses in China.”Chengdu has not only many teahouses but also the special ways of serving and drinking tea.
    As soon as the visitors enter the teahouses, the waiters or waitresses will greet them with teapots and cups in their hands. The cups often have special covers and saucers(茶碟). The covers can keep the water warm.
    People who go to the teahouses are not all thirsty. Retired(退休)people pay a little money to the teahouses and then sit there all day long to chat with others. Sometimes, people have parties in the teahouses. They eat fruit and sunflower seeds(瓜子)while they chat and return home when they are tired. Teahouses are also good places for people to talk about businesses. Some of the teahouses even have stages for performances, such as storytelling, cross talk and Sichuan Opera. Sometimes when people have a quarrel, a mediator(调解员)will bring them to the teahouse. After their problem is solved, the person who is wrong will pay for the tea. It is interesting that as soon as the quarrelers enter the teahouse and sit down to drink tea, they have almost calmed down. With the help of the mediator, their problems can be easily solved then. Maybe we can say the teahouses have some special social functions.

    There are many TV programs on Chinese cuisines(烹饪、美食)，but few are like A Bite of China. It tries to bring something new by introducing more cultural （文化）features related （叙述）to dishes, such as eating habits and wonderful stories about food.
    It's said that more than 100 million Chinese people are watching the program .Most Chinese people see this program as more than just the regular food shows. They see it as an amazing documentary providing a special view of Chinese as well as the relations between people and food and between people and society（社会）.
    On the other hand ,the documentary also stimulates(刺激)Chinese people's consumption (消耗). Taobao, one of China's biggest online shopping sites, reports that the search(搜索) on food items that were introduced by the documentary has increased to 4 million times within (在...之内) one week, and sales have increased to 5.82 million, or 20%.
    To get enough good stories, the production team spent three months doing research and interviews in about 60 cities before they started making the documentary last July. Filming lasted about nine months.
    Liu Wen, the director, says “As CCTV-9 serves as a window. allowing the world to better understand China, the documentary aims to help the world not only appreciate the beauty of Chinese cuisines ,but also learn Chinese customs.”

Breakdancing, also known as breaking, will be an Olympic sport for the first time in 2024. To attract younger people to watch sports games, breaking is becoming a new event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. WDSF is happy about the result and it will prepare for the breakdancing competition to make the event unforgettable.

Skateboarding, surfing and rock-climbing are also becoming the 2024 Paris Olympic events. In fact, the three new sports have already been added to the program for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. These new sports are going to make Olympics more attractive.
