    CBC Canada, CTV News

A group of Canadian kids are spreading a bit of Christmas spirit in Halifax, Nova Scotia, by covering warm clothes around light poles(灯杆) for the city's homeless people to pick up and use. It was such an unusual sight that locals stopped to take pictures to share on social media(媒体).

Every year, Tara AtkinsSmith collects warm clothes from her community in order to help the less lucky. This year, since the family was travelling to Halifax with their daughter Jayda and seven of her friends to celebrate her 8th birthday, Tara thought it was the perfect time to teach the children a valuable life lesson.

The kids spent time handing out coats to the homeless and tied the rest around light poles for others to pick up. Each of the clothes had a tag that read, "I am not lost. If you are caught in the cold, please take me to keep warm." According to Tara, the experience helped the children better understand the difficult situation of homeless people, who have to brave the cold winter on the streets. "When we got back in the car after an hour on the streets, they were all freezing cold and crying for the heater(火炉) to be on because they were cold, " she said.

By next morning, all the jackets, gloves, and scarves on the poles were gone. Photos of the inspiring project have been shared about 8, 000 times on Facebook, and have got over 10, 000 likes. Tara, who did something similar in Toronto in December last year, says she's already planning next year's coat drive. She hopes that the meaningful thing can spread around the world, and she also wants to add $5 fast food gift card so that the homeless people can also enjoy a hot meal." We've got help from others when we were in need, and we knew how great it made us feel, " said Zackary Atkins, Tara's husband.

On May 3, a Long March-5 rocket took off from Hainan. It was carrying the Chang'e-6 spacecraft (航天器). After about 37 minutes, the spacecraft separated from the rocket and began its 53-day journey.

The Chang'e-6 spacecraft has a special job. It's going to collect rocks and soil from the far side of the moon and bring them back to Earth. "No other country has done this before," said Wu Weiren, chief designer of China's moon exploration program. The moon rotates (旋转) at the same speed as it moves around Earth. As a result, we always see the "near side" of the moon from Earth. "We still know very little about the moon's far side. If we make it, we'll give scientists new, first-hand information about the moon."

The Chang'e-6 spacecraft has a robotic arm. After it lands on the moon, the arm will start working. It will collect rocks and soil from the moon's surface (表面) and put them in a special box. The spacecraft will then bring them back to Earth. How much will Chang'e-6 be able to collect? Scientists don't know for sure. Their goal is about two kilograms.

The spacecraft will land in an impact crater (撞击坑) called the SPA Basin. It is 2,500 kilometers wide. That's about the distance between Beijing and Hainan. The SPA Basin has a history of over four billion years. It is the oldest and largest impact crater on the moon. Scientists believe that studying it may give us some of the earliest information about the moon.

The Shenzhou XVIII crew(成员) returned to Earth on Monday morning Nov. 4th , 2024, finishing a six-month mission onboard the Tiangong space station.

The astronauts brought back 55 sets of experimental samples, with a total weight of 34. 6 kilograms. These are related to 28 experimental projects, ranging from life sciences to microgravity combustion research(微重力燃烧研究).

The spaceship's reentry capsule(返回舱), carrying Ye Guangfu , Li Cong and Li Guangsu, flew for more than nine hours before touching down at 1:24 am at the Dongfeng Landing Site in the middle of the Gobi Desert in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

After landing on the earth , doctors checked outside the bell-shaped capsule, opened its hatch and examined the astronauts' health.

The Shenzhou XVIII crew members were then helped out of the capsule and seated on chairs, and they shared their experiences in a live program with a reporter from China Central Television.

Mission commander Ye, who now holds the record among Chinese astronauts of spending the longest time in space, said he is grateful to the motherland and its people, as well as to all those taking part in the nation's manned space programs.

"Through this mission, I returned to the Tiangong space station and had an orbital journey for the second time. It gave me an opportunity to have a personal experience of the new developments made in our space industry, " he said.

"We will always keep in mind the tasks given by the Party and the people, and continue to work hard to fulfill our duty in building our country into a great space power, " he added.

Li Cong said the crew members cooperated very well with each other to achieve all the given tasks, noting that their two spacewalks were fully successful. He added that they will return for training as soon as possible, so that they can take part in future space missions.

Do you often eat at KFC? Do you like its chicken nuggets(鸡块)? The fast-food company is now planning to" reinvent" this popular product. In the future, its chicken nuggets may contain no chicken.

Yes, you read that right. KFC has been working with a Russian tech company for the" Meat of the Future" project. They are going to produce chicken nuggets in labs. The process will use chicken cells(细胞) and plant material. There is no chicken in the ingredients. However, KFC says people may not notice the change. The lab-grown nuggets will be made as similar as possible to the real thing in both taste and appearance.

Meat-lovers may not like this idea. But according to KFC, producing chicken nuggets in labs is better for the environment. For years, fast-food companies have been asked to look into their environmental footprints. Raising farm animals and transporting(运输) meat over long distances produce lots of greenhouse gases.

Moreover, fast-food companies have long been criticized (批评) by animal lovers. Every year, they kill billions of chickens. If meat can be grown in labs, there will be no need to harm animals.

Raisa Polyakova is KFC Russia's general manager. "At KFC, we are monitoring all the new technologies," he says. "We are doing our best to try to solve our problems."

KFC says it will test its lab-grown chicken nuggets first in Russia. If the test is successful, the nuggets will be made available around the world.

What do you think of KFC's new idea? Do you want to try its"chickenless" chicken nuggets?
