My husband and I were paying a visit {#blank#}1{#/blank#} my parents in Tucson. We went to a fast-food restaurant for dinner together. My husband went to the counter {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (order) dishes and I stood with my parents.

    My dad is 90 years old. He can hardly see very well and walks with a stick. I was scanning the restaurant, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wait) to sit at the first table that was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (convenient) than others. A woman who was sitting with her son made eye contact with me and asked me to come to her. With a {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(puzzle) look on my face, I pointed to myself and said , “Me ?” She {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (nod) and said, “Yes, you.” I walked to the table and she said, “Bring your family here. I can finish eating at the counter. My son is in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} hurry to leave anyway.” My eyes {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (fill) with tears as she wiped down the table and guided my dad to the seat.

    I always believe that there are {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (nature) kind people in this world. This woman has set a good example to her son, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is a really lucky guy.

    I remember the occasion when mother sent me to the main road, about twenty yards away from our house, to invite a passing group of seasonal work－seekers for a meal. She{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(instruct) me to take a basket along and collect dry cow dung(牛粪) for making a fire. I was then to prepare the meal for the group of work－seekers.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#} thought of making an open fire outside at midday,and{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(cook)in a large three－legged pot in that intense heat, was sufficient to upset even an angel. I did not manage to hide my feelings from my mother and, after serving the group, she called me to the veranda(走廊){#blank#}4{#/blank#} she usually sat to attend to her sewing and knitting.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} straight into my eyes, she asked “Why did you get angry{#blank#}6{#/blank#} I requested you to prepare a meal for those poor people?”{#blank#}7{#/blank#} my attempt to deny her blame，using the heat of the fire and the sun as an excuse for my rude behavior, mother, she gave me a firm look，{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(say), “You cannot detect what trouble may lie ahead of you.”

    I{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (sudden) realized that if I had refused to offer this group of people a meal,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}would be impossible that in my travels some time in the future,I would get these individuals' help.

    I am fond of my sister but she has one serious shortcoming. She can be really {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Although she didn't know the best way of getting to places, she insisted that she {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the trip properly. Now I know that the proper way is always her way. I kept asking her, “When are we leaving and when are we coming back?” I asked her {#blank#}3{#/blank#} she had looked at a map yet. Of course she hadn't; my sister doesn't care {#blank#}4{#/blank#} details. So I told her that the source of the Mekong is in Qinghai Province. She gave me a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} look—the kind {#blank#}6{#/blank#} said she would not change her mind. When I told her that our journey would begin {#blank#}7{#/blank#} an altitude of more than 5,000 metres, she seemed to be excited about it. When I told her the air would be hard{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (breathe) and it would be very cold, she said it would be an interesting experience. I know my sister well. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} she has made up her mind, nothing can change it. Finally, I had to give {#blank#}10{#/blank#}.

    Wing Chun Kung Fu (咏春拳) is {#blank#}1{#/blank#} excellent hobby for children and assuring(令人放心的) for parents concerned about their safety.     Every Thanksgiving my family and I, along with others, prepare and serve Thanksgiving meals for the people in our small mountain community. My husband and I also bring meals to the disabled.

    This Thanksgiving we did {#blank#}1{#/blank#} same. After delivering them to some individual apartments, we went to the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (centre) dining room. We put the boxes filled with Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and some other foods on the tables. People invited {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (we) to stay, and thanked us, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we had other deliveries and had to leave. As we started to go out, I turned around and saw them all {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (watch) us. Then I asked, "Would anybody like a hug?" They lined up. There was so much {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (warm) in each hug.

    My eyes {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (fill) with tears and my heart with love. Now I visit now and then {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (chat) and, of course, hug. This year at my Thanksgiving delivery, when they line up {#blank#}9{#/blank#} their hugs, I am going to have them turn around and hug each other. These people have no family at Thanksgiving-- what could be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (good) for them than hugs!
