Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people 4 to give money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man came to see 5 things were. The boy recognized his footsteps （认出他的脚步声）and asked, “Were you the one who 6 my sign this morning? What did you write?”

    I was standing in line behind a woman in her 60s. When it was her turn to pay, the shop owner greeted 1 and asked how she was doing.

    The woman looked down, shook her head and said, “Not so 2, my husband just lost his job. I don't know how I can 3 the holidays.”

    Then she gave the shop owner the food stamps（食品券）for poor families.

    To tell the truth, her reply was a little 12. Having never done anything like this before, I didn't know what could happen. All I could say was, "Would it be OK to give you a hug?"

    After that, I walked into my car and began to13 too.

    The words on the card?

    "You Matter."

    A few weeks earlier, a friend gave me a similar 14 as encouragement for my work. When I read it, I really felt 15. So I ordered my own box of You Matter cards and started sharing them.

    “What does 'doing the right thing' mean to you”? One Friday, my teacher asked our class to think about the question. We would hand in an article on it by Monday, and be prepared to do the things we will1.

    The whole weekend, I was trying to think about something that would2my teacher and be easy to follow. I talked to my parents, called my grandmother and asked my neighbor. Everyone had good3 but I didn't think I could achieve them.

    On Sunday afternoon, my parents said they were going to my Aunt Mary's house. That usually4that I would have to play with my four-year-old cousin Andrea5we visited. I showed her a cartoon, and then I sat down and started to write my article.

    Soon I felt two 6 on me. It was Andrea. “What are you doing?” she asked. “I have to write an article about what 'doing the right thing' means to me.” I answered. Andrea laughed. “That's easy,” she said. “Doing the right thing means being7 to your family and friends. Never lie. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Take a bath when you're dirty.”

    I looked at my little cousin with great 8.Then I jumped up and gave her the biggest hug. Not only had Andrea answered a very difficult question for me, but I could9follow them. All I had to do was to be nice, not to lie, to keep myself clean and healthy. So when I wrote my article, I10the story about Andrea and how she had answered my question.

    Two weeks later, I received my article with an A+ and a little note written by my teacher: “Always do the right thing and give Andrea an A+, too!”

    Joey O'Leary, a ten-year-old boy, lived in a small town, in the USA. He had a pair of green pants that he 1 most, but the pants were already short for him. One day, his father thought of a(n) 2. He said to Joey, "Let's put your green pants into a big bottle(瓶子), and then float it 3 the river. We can put a note with your name and 4. So whoever finds the pants will know that they are your favourite pants." Joey thought that it was a5 idea, so they just did that.

      The bottle floated for weeks. Finally, it got to the Gulf of Mexico. It was caught by a 6 Mexican boy Pablo and his father. They were so poor that they sometimes had nothing to eat. When they caught the bottle and saw the pants and note in it, Pablo was so 7. The pants were just what he had wanted. He later tried them on and was surprised to find that they were 8 for him.

      When Pablo got home, he wrote a 9 to Joey. After that, Pablo and Joey wrote letters to each other every week. They became lifelong 10. It was all because of a pair of green pants.
