A children's choir (合唱团) from the snowy highlands of Tibet recently1 their beautiful singing to the capital, Beijing.

The Qomolangma Children's Choir was2 in 2020. They recently paid a week-long trip to Beijing to3 their music skills and show their4 to national audiences.

When journalists met the choir on Saturday, the children were 5 the recording of a music program at CCTV in Beijing. Before 6 the program, they received professional 7 from teachers at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM). 8 , they also visited scenic 9 in Beijing such as the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City and so on. Tenzin Dunyu, a 10-year-old member of the choir, told the journalists that he has been playing the zhanian for five years. The zhanian, a beautiful 10 , is widely used in songs and dances  in Tibet. For him, coming to Beijing and 11 in Tiananmen Square was both a nervous and 12 experience, marking his first journey outside Lhasa. Another 10-year-old member, Tsering Lhamo, has been singing for a year. Her trip to Beijing 13 her horizons, and when it came to what 14 her most, she said she 15 enjoyed the cheerful songs of the choir performed at CCTV. 

Geng Muyao was the choir's16 from CCOM to help the children with training. She17 that the choir was set up by the Tibetan government and18 by CCOM. "Many members were19 of vocal (声 乐的) training due to poor condition, so this choir experience means a lot to them. "she said.

Including children from all over Tibet, the choir primarily shows Tibetan folk culture. Though the members are 20 , the choir has performed at important events, achieving amazing success in a short time.

Several years ago, my company experienced a slowdown in business. We hoped that it was only 1 . We had work enough for only four days of the week. So we decided that we would work from Monday to Thursday, and take Fridays to do 2 projects in our hometown. 

One day, we went to a very old gentleman's 3 to do a total clean-up. When we arrived, an elderly woman 4 us at the door. We thought she was the wife, but it turned out that she was the 5 . She was 75, and her father 97! Soon, we began to clean the house and the yard. It was 6 how much work a group could get done when everyone was working 7 . That gentleman's house went from dirt to a sparkling clean palace by the time we finished.

12 art until he was 80 years old. I was 13 : these drawings were works of art that could have easily been hanging in a museum. At the time, I was in my early 30s and wanted to do something that would use my creative and artistic competence more than being president of a company would 14 . I had felt that it was too difficult to make a change at this "advanced" stage of my life. Boy! My 15 belief system got expanded that afternoon!

Dada Band is a popular Chinese rock group from the 1990s. The band {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（found）in Beijing by a group of young musicians who were deeply influenced by Western rock music but sought {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（create）a sound that was distinctly their own.

One of their most beloved songs, "South"（Nánfāng）, shows the essence of Dada Band's artistry. This song is a vivid reflection on the feelings of homesickness and longing for their hometown of Wuhan, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（especial）as the members were living in Beijing during their formative years as a band. The song's lyrics（歌词）paint {#blank#}4{#/blank#} rich picture of personal memories and universal emotions, revealing the essence of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it means to leave a part of oneself behind in the pursuit of dreams.

Their song "South" remains a timeless piece, continuing to touch the hearts of listeners across {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（generation）and geographical boundaries, reminding them of the power of music to connect us all to our roots and to each other.

"It's nice having a friend," said Mole (鼹鼠) to Rabbit as they sat talking in the sun one day.

"Oh, it is!" said Rabbit. "Very useful, too, 1 if you need help. 2 , I think I'd like Bull (公牛) to be my friend."

"But I'm your friend!" said Mole, feeling 3

"Oh, yes," said Rabbit. "You are good for talking to and laughing with, 4 you are too small. When I need help, I 5 someone big and strong like Bull. He would be a very good friend to have. It would be 6 shouting for him when I need help."

Mole went off in anger.

"Oh, well, I need to 7 something," Rabbit thought.

He moved along 8 he found a tiny garden. He had just started on his first leaf when there was a big noise. People were shouting and dogs were barking (吠叫). Rabbit was so afraid and in such a 9 to get away that he ran into the wrong hole. The hole was too small and Rabbit got stuck. He could not 10 at all.

"Help!" cried Rabbit.

Mole 11 him. He ran up to see what was the matter.

"Help!" cried Rabbit. "I'm stuck in this hole."

"If you want help," said Mole, "I'd better 12 Bull."

"No!" cried Rabbit. "He's no good! He's too big to get into this hole. You're just the right 13 ! Please help me, Mole!"

So Mole began digging around Rabbit. He worked so fast that Rabbit was 14 in no time.

"I'm sorry, Mole. I was wrong, " Rabbit said. "I'm 15 I have you as a friend."

And the two good friends set off for home together.

Looking back, the memory of doctors, nurses and the conclusion of appendicitis（阑尾炎） was still clear. 1 , nothing hurt more than three days with appendicitis. After a series of emergencies, I could merely lie 2 and beg my body to stop hurting.

All the 3 acquired from years of swimming was eaten away. Previously, I could swim miles daily. Now it was a（n） 4 to sit up and I couldn't swim for almost three months.

When I finally returned to the pool, I struggled with my 5 ability. Race after race, I 6 my goals. Every time I 7 to enter the national competitions, I failed by a tiny amount.

Finally, I came to the last event that could 8 me for nationals. This was my last 9 : now or never. After so many failures, I couldn't help being furious about recent events.

The race started, and I dived in, throwing the pain, 10 and anger I had experienced recently into the pool. My mind focused, self-limitation was 11 and I devoted all my attention and strength to my moves.

When I saw my time, a wave of 12 swept over me. I eventually 13 self-doubt and won what almost 14 from me. Nationals were waiting for me, and by no means would I let anything 15 my advancement.

I was born and live in Seattle, and for forty-five years, not. a day has gone by that I haven't drunk coffee. I've also come to understand how and why coffee 1 me. It is caffeine, of course.

Recently, noticing the 2 in my consumption over the years, my wife innocently3 that I "take a little break" from coffee. The very suggestion made me mad.

日 "Here's an idea," I 4 , heart rate rocketing.

"Why don't we just live apart for a year so it feels more like it did when we were first married?" A(n)5 ? I think not.

Assuming that coffee does keep me 6 for an extra few days or decades, I know how I'll spend them: drinking more coffee, or darker and darker roasts, whose 7 smell helps fight age-related loss of taste and smell.

My Spanish mother-in-law, whom I loved like my own mother, died last summer at the age of 93. She was sharp as ever and the 8 person I knew, up to the very end. She also9 multiple cups of coffee every day until her last. Our 10 love of coffee drew us together before we even spoke the same language, and 11 our relationship for more than three decades.

In her last weeks, I was lecturing in Barcelona and spending my 12 time with her, downing many 13 and chatting about the 14 to happiness. Here was her formula: elamor, la fe, y el café——love, faith, and coffee. In my opinion, that sounds 15 indeed.
