He is the man who for many people has been a role model. Now your biggest hero deserves a special day when you can express your thanks and let him know{#blank#}1{#/blank#} important he is to you. The third Sunday of June—which {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fall) on June 19 this year is Father's Day. The idea of Father's Day came from {#blank#}3{#/blank#} American woman called Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909. Dodd wanted a special day {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (honor) her father. He raised six children by {#blank#}5{#/blank#} after his wife died. Dodd thought there needed to be a day to honor loving dads.

    The first Father's Day {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (celebrate) on June 19, 1910. In 1924, US President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (nation) Father's Day. Finally, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday of June {#blank#}8{#/blank#} Father's Day.

    Here are some ways to show your love and respect:

    Send him a greeting card. Fathers prefer cards {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are not too emotional. So choose one that will make him laugh. If he has a computer, cover his desktop {#blank#}10{#/blank#} words like “I love you Dad”. A small present, such as a framed photo of your family, can make him feel like a king.

    The Internet is an amazing information resource. Students, teachers, and researchers use it as {#blank#}1{#/blank#}searching tool. Journalists use it {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(find) information for stories. Doctors use it to learn more about unfamiliar diseases and the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(late) medical development. When we are talking about it , it {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (use) by ordinary people for shopping, banking, bill-paying, and communicating with family and friends. It has the magical power to connect one with people from {#blank#}5{#/blank#} countries and cultures. However, {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the Internet has many advantages , there are also certain fears and concerns connected with it. One concern relates to a lack of control over {#blank#}7{#/blank#}appears on the Internet. On television and radio there are restrictions (限制）on what kinds of programs can  be broadcast, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} on the Internet it is not the case. Parents cannot determine what is suitable {#blank#}9{#/blank#} their children to see because the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (appear) of any information is not under their control.

    No trip would be complete without experiencing the local food culture. Actually, China has various kinds of delicious food, including a wide variety of local snacks.

    For most of the foreigners I contacted, and myself {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (include), Peking Duck, Mongolian Hot Pot are the favourite Chinese dishes. China is a place {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the food is not only delicious, but the {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(cheap) I've ever found.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my last night in Beijing before {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (return) to the States, I went to a Peking Duck restaurant that had been suggested for me to try. What a beautiful place! Splendid woodblock prints on the walls, fresh flowers in the vases,  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(attract) silverware (银餐具) and beautiful chopsticks. I was handed {#blank#}7{#/blank#} menu and found most of the prices were especially low for the high quality of the food. The lucky came in whole or half, along with all the little decorations - a little tortilla (玉米粉圆饼) to put the sliced cluck and vegetables in, chopped onion and sauce.

    Anyway, I ordered a whole duck, thinking I'd just take the rest back to my hotel {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(eat) later if I couldn't finish it.{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(believable), in the end there was none of the whole duck {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(leave) on the plate.

    Whenever anyone asks me where my favorite place in China is, I say Dali without hesitation. Dali, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (surround) by mountains for hiking and lakes for bicycling around, is the kind of place that everyone likes.

    Last year I met a couple of young students I'd known {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I travelled to Dali, and we agreed {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (cycle) along the lake in a small town outside of Dali. The lake {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (it) was pretty easy to cycle around, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} flat paths passing through a lot of little villages. While cycling, a woman recommended an hour-long boat ride for about 40 RMB each--a bit expensive but {#blank#}6{#/blank#} adventure we felt like having, so we paid for it.

    In about 20 minutes we witnessed in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (excite) how a fisherman fished with his fishing birds. A string was tied around each bird's neck so that when it dived for fish, it was unable to swallow them. The birds {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (give) a fish as payment for their service after the fisherman had a satisfactory catch. I'd {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (previous) read about this fishing method, but it was pretty exciting to see first-hand.

    The day finished with a brilliant sunset, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I climbed onto a roof to get a photo of.

    Hi, I've got something {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (excite) to tell you. I was in an elevator yesterday and saw Robin Drexel, the famous movie star! I just stood there, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (freeze). I couldn't say a word. But {#blank#}3{#/blank#} of a sudden, she turned to me, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (say), "Hello" too. Then she asked me {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the restaurant was on the fifth floor, I told her I was going to the restaurant {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (my), and I offered to show her where it was. She said, "Oh, fine." Then she said, "Why don't we have lunch together?" Imagine! I never thought I would have lunch with a movie star! But I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (do)! We had lunch together and talked for about half {#blank#}8{#/blank#} hour. She even paid for my lunch! Can you imagine? But that isn't all. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} lunch, she asked me if she could give me a ride to somewhere. I told her I was going home. {#blank#}10{#/blank#} she took me home in her big, black limousine (豪华轿车). It was an exciting day. That's all for now. I've got to run!

    Daisy is a girl who cares about our environment. She always longs to help {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(endanger) species of wildlife. One day, she {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(wake) up and found a flying carpet which took her to many{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(place) to experience something amazing. In Tibet, Daisy saw an antelope looking sad and it told her the species was being killed. Then the carpet showed her a place {#blank#}4{#/blank#}there was some wildlife protection. There she came across {#blank#}5{#/blank#}elephant, from whom she knew they used to be hunted {#blank#}6{#/blank#}mercy. But now good things are being done to save local wildlife. Knowing that, Daisy burst into {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(laugh) in relief. At the end of the journey, she met a monkey {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(rub) itself to protect himself from mosquitoes. The monkey asked her to pay {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(much) attention to the rainforest. Finally, Daisy {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(full) understood the meaning of no rainforest, no animals, no drugs.
