The giant panda {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (love) by people throughout the world. Chinese scientists{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (recent) had a chance to study a wild female panda with a newborn baby. She was a very {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (care) mother. For 25 days, she never left her baby, not even to find something {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (eat)! She would not let any other pandas come near. She licked the baby constantly to keep it clean. Any smell might attract dangerous {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (animal) that would try to eat the little comforting pats. The mother held the baby in her front paws much the way a human does.  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} it cried, she rocked it back and forth and gave it little comforting pats. The mother continued to care for the young panda {#blank#}7{#/blank#} more than two years. By that time, the panda no longer needed {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (it) mother for food. However, it stayed with her and learned about the ways of the forest. Then, after two and a half years, the mother {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (drive) the young panda away . It was time for her to have a new baby, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it was also time for the young panda to be independent.

    Many English language learners believe that the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (great) difficulty with listening comprehension (理解) is that the listener cannot control how quickly a speaker speaks. They feel that what the speaker says disappears {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they can follow. This frequently means that students {#blank#}3{#/blank#} are learning to listen cannot keep up. They are so busy working out the meaning{#blank#}4{#/blank#} one part of what they hear that they miss the next part. Or they {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(simple) ignore a whole section because they fail to catch it quickly enough. Another difficulty is that the listener is not always in a position to get the speaker to repeat what has been said. And, of course, repeats cannot{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (ask) for when listening to the radio or watching TV.

    Besides,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (choose) of vocabulary is in the hands of the speaker, not the listener. Very often, for people listening to a foreign language, an unknown word can be like a suddenly {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (drop) stone making them stop and think about the meaning of the word,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} (cause) them to miss the next part of the speech. In listening, it really is a case of “He who{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (stop) to work out the meaning is lost.”

    There was once a small boy who would never get dressed when his parents told him to,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}would he wear what they wanted him to. He preferred unusual clothes, but above all, he liked taking his time. His parents were always in a rush, and wanted him to be much {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (quick), but the boy didn't like this, and he would slow down even more.

    One day, his parents got so angry when he refused to dress that they told him to go out without any clothes at all.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (surprise), the boy followed his parents out of the door. He held a belief {#blank#}4{#/blank#}nobody could do anything to him.

    As the boy stood outside his house with nothing on,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (wait) for his parents's car, along came the local pig farmer. The farmer,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}was almost deaf, had very poor eyesight. Not only that, but also he{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(forget) his glasses that day. When he saw the boy's pink skin, he thought it was one of his pigs. Shouting and pushing, the farmer forced {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(he) into a pig cage. The boy begged him to stop but the deaf farmer couldn't hear.

    When found by his parents, the terrified boy never again wanted to be mistaken{#blank#}9{#/blank#} anything other than a human being. Now he's the first {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (get) dressed, and always looks neat.

    Everybody in the world is seeking happiness--and there is one sure way{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(find) it. That is by{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(control) your thoughts. Happiness doesn't depend{#blank#}3{#/blank#} outward conditions, but inner conditions.

    It isn't what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing {#blank#}4{#/blank#}makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.     Abraham Lincoln once {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(say) that “most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be”. He was right. If you decide to be happy, then you will always find plenty of {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(reason) to be happy.

    Peru is a country on the Pacific coast of South America. It has three main areas: narrow, dry, flat land {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(run) along the coast, the Andes Mountains and the Amazon rainforest.     Spanish is the main official language of Peru. The capital of Peru is Lima, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} is in the north on the coast. The ancient Inca capital, Cusco, is found high in the Andes. It is a popular {#blank#}9{#/blank#}.(tour) destination as it is close to the famous Inca ruins(废墟) of the city of Machu Picchu. Cusco is a lively city with many hotels and inns, where {#blank#}10{#/blank#}Indian and Spanish culture and art can be seen.
