    Four years ago when I was a boy of 11, I got into the biggest trouble as a kid. It was a Saturday morning. Both my parents were out, leaving me and my 10-month-old sister home alone. Anyway, my sister was still asleep in her room. In fact I had the house to myself. I decided to do some drawing. Soon I gave up. Nothing was on TV, so I felt bored and touched the candles on the shelf …I had an idea! What would happen if I set fire to some kitchen paper? Well, of course it went on fire, but it wasn't the tiny flame(火苗 ) I'd expected, and I couldn't blow it out. I threw it on the floor, and then luckily got my dad's boots(靴子) and stamped it out.

    I thought I was safe until there was a huge hole in my room. When my mum came home later, she smelt the smoke immediately. She dropped the shopping bag, luckily for me, over the hole. I thought this meant she would never see it. However, after running round the house checking for a fire, she of course picked up the bag and saw the hole. Next I was grounded(关禁闭) and in trouble for months. Even worse, the hole was still there, reminding me of what I did.

    Donald was not very good at maths. He could not understand the teacher's 1. Even when the teacher explained something again, Donald still could not 2it. “Never mind,” Donald told himself. “I'm quite good at other 3. I cheat (作弊) in the maths exam, then I won't be in4.”

    “My deskmate Brian Smith is best at maths,” he thought, “and I'll be able to 5his answers.”

    The day of the exam came, and Donald sat 6Brian Smith, who always sat at the front of the 7. Donald carefully copied Brian's answers onto his own exam paper. At the end of the exam, the teacher 8the papers and graded (评分) them.

    Then she said, “Well, boys and girls, I've decided to give a9to the student who got the highest grade. It's 10for me to decide whom I will choose, however, because two students, Donald and Brian, got the 11grade.”

    “Let them share it.” one of the 12said.

    “I've thought about that,” the teacher said, “but I've chosen Brian.”

    Donald was 13when he heard this. He stood up and said, “That's not fair.”

    “That's 14,” the teacher said. “However, Brian's answer to Question 18 was 'I don't know.' Yours was 15do I.' ”

    There was once a wise old lady who lived on a hill. All the children used to go and ask her questions. She always gave them1answers.

    There was a little boy among the children. One day he caught a little bird and held it in his hands without anybody seeing it. Suddenly he had an idea and asked his friends to2.

    "Let's3the old lady," he said. "I'll ask her what I'm holding in my hands. Of course, she'll answer that I have a bird. Then I'll ask her if the bird is alive or dead. If she says the bird is dead, then I'll4my hands and let the bird fly away. If she says the bird is alive, I'll quickly5it and show her the dead bird. Either way, she'll be6."

    The children agreed this was a clever plan. So7the hill they all went to the old lady's house.

    "Granny, we have a8for you," they all shouted.

    "What's in my hands?" the little boy asked.

    "Why, of course it must be a bird," the old lady replied.

    "But is it alive or dead?" the boy asked9.

    All the boys10 her answer and got ready to laugh at her.

    The old lady thought for a moment and then replied, "It's up to you, my child. If you're kind enough, it'll be alive."

    When I visit the Science Museum, I go to the Launchpad. This is my favourite room 1 you can do physics experiments. For example, if you want to fill a bag with 2 sand, you have to move a kind of truck on wheels into the correct position. I also go to the Rocket Show. You can learn how we travel 3 space and back again.

    Then I go upstairs to the Hmnan and Nature Room. You can 4 your speed with animals there. You hear a noise and push a button. If you aren't fast 5 , the lion catches you! I'm faster 6 all my friends, but the lion still catches me.

    There are also rooms on transport, the environment and space technology,7maths, physics and chemistry.

    You can do a lot of things in this museum, but you have to obey some rules as well. For example, you mustn't take photos of the 8in the museum. But you can buy postcards of them in the museum shops.   9, the Science Museum is free. That means you can drop in for a few minutes or you can stay as long as you like--it's open every day, from 10 am to 6 pm. So if you ever go to London, 10you visit the Science Museum. It's my favourite museum in the whole world.

    One day a donkey and his owner were walking down the road. They met a1on the road. The traveller wanted to hire（雇用）the donkey, and the owner agreed to have the donkey2the man to the next village.

    The traveller climbed up on the donkey and they3. The day was4and about half way, they decided to5. The only shadow（阴影）they could find was 6the donkey.

    "No, "said the owner." You paid to ride on the donkey, not to sit under the donkey. The donkey's shadow is9."

    Then they10on and on. The donkey11listening to them and went off. When the men finally stopped arguing, they found12the donkey and his shadow were both13. Now there was no donkey and there was no14.

    The traveller asked half of his money back and then had to walk on his own to the next village. The owner of the donkey had to spend hours walking around in the sun and15his lost donkey.

    A little girl walked to and back from school every day. One day, wind blew hard and trees shook from side to side in the wind on her way home after school. It rained1, and rain poured down, the girl's father worried that his daughter would be scared because of flashes of lightning. So he drove to his daughter's school in a hurry. To his surprise, he saw her2alone in the rain. When a flash of lightning came, she stopped, looked up and smiled. 3followed, she stopped, looked up and smiled. With the coming of the following flashes of lightning, she repeated the4thing again and again.

    After she got into the car, he wondered why she stopped, looked up and smiled when a lightning came. She replied with a bright smile, "Dad, when a flash of lightning came, I felt a bit scared. Seeing this, God would5me. I knew he was playing an interesting game with me to drive my fear. "

    You see, if you look at the world from a different view, the world is really amazing.
