Peng Jiangya was born in a poor family of Guizhou. 1 she was a child， she fell into a fire stove(火炉) at home. She lost her2 .

    “In order to hold chopsticks(筷子)，my parents taught me to use them for a long time. It was really3 but I did my best to solve it. From then on， I knew if I wanted to succeed(成功)， I had to put great efforts into what I was doing，” Jiangya said.

    In 2014, when I was well again after a serious illness, a friend invited me to a writer's meeting in Orlando, Florida. My family thought that a1 might be just what the doctor suggested, so I went off.

    I was tired when I arrived in the Sunshine State. I caught a taxi to my hotel. The next morning, I took2 taxi to the shopping centre to buy something, later after shopping I went to a lovely restaurant 3 lunch,4there were no more tables. Then I heard a friendly voice, "You can 5 my table." I thankfully sat down with the6lady. We had a happy lunch together. At the end of the 7she asked me how I would plan the holiday in Orlando. I8her that I didn't have a car. I would take taxis to go out though it was a bit 9 . Hearing that she said, "My dear, don't use any more taxis. I'm retired (退休) and free. I am glad to10 you to any place you wish." I told her that I couldn't put her into that11, but she didn't agree. She asked me where I was12 and the next morning, she came to my hotel and took me to Disney World. She stayed with me for some time and then 13me alone. At the end of the day, she returned to take me back to my hotel. I gave her money but she didn't take any.14 the help of her, I enjoyed my trip there. I'll never forget 15 she did for me. She made my short holiday in Florida such a wonderful memory.

    Resi and I walked to school together every morning. We linked up with some of the other village children. It was 1945 in Germany, and this was a1thing because of the war.

    Sometimes Resi and I took a shortcut, a little path 2a meadow(草地). One day, we saw a young stranger, chopping wood in the side yard of a house. We walked away quickly, 3 who he was.

    The next morning, there he was. He didn't seem to notice us,4we were only a few feet away. Again we stared, then ran away.

    Resi said that he was one of a small group of Americans being captured(俘虏) by the German army .We weren't afraid, just5. He looked nice.

    One morning some days later, the American 6from his woodpile. He smiled and said, "Hi."

    We didn't know any English. So, as usual, we ran away.

From then on, 7 we passed by, we would find the American working in the yard, almost as if he was 8 us. Every day, he waved and repeated his "Hi." We waved back and said "Hi" 9.

    After another week, another 10 English word "Bye-bye". We laughed and parroted it back: "Bye-bye."

    Later, the man came closer to the fence, and said, "Frankie."

    Resi and I became quite 11with our "Hi, Frankie; byebye, Frankie" morning routine.

    Sometimes he would be singing. "You are my sunshine ..." he sang over and over,12, until we could sing the whole song.

    One morning, Resi and I arrived, but there was no Frankie. We looked 13. No Frankie. We never saw him again.

    Years later, at a picnic with our American relatives, 14 started singing, "You are my sunshine…" Of course I remembered the words, and I 15joined in. I told them about Frankie. And to this day, whenever I hear the song, I remember Frankie and the wonderful legacy he left us: our first English lesson and many happy memories.

    Once there lived two brothers. The elder was called Simon and the younger was Victor. They1each other very much, and always took care of each other. Every day they worked from morning until night, getting as much grain as possible from their fields.

    One late autumn evening, after their work in the fields was done, Simon said to his wife, "Victor got married last month. He has many bills to pay. I think I should put a bag of rice in his barn(谷仓)." "Oh, that's a good idea!" said his wife." But please don't tell him, "said Simon." If he knows I put the rice there, he will2take it."

    Simon decided to take another bag of rice to his brother's barn that night. But the next morning, he found the6number of bags in his barn again! "This is very strange," he thought.

    That night he 7 again. He carried a large bag of rice on his shoulder, and walked down the road to his younger brother's house. In the bright moonlight, he could see another person coming down the road. He was carrying something on his shoulder, too.

    "Younger brother!" Simon cried. "What are you doing?"
