For several billion years after the "Big Bang", the earth was still just a cloud of dust. What it was to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} was uncertain until between 4.5 and 3.8 billion years ago when the dust settled into a solid globe. The earth became so {#blank#}2{#/blank#} that it was not clear whether the shape would last or not.

     {#blank#}3{#/blank#} eastward, you'll pass mountains and thousands of lakes and forests, as well as wide rivers and large cities. Some people have the idea {#blank#}4{#/blank#} you can cross Canada in less than five days, but they forget the fact that Canada is 5500 kilometers from coast to coast. Here in Vancouver, you're in Canada's warmest part. People say it is Canada's most beautiful city. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} by mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Its population is increasing rapidly. The coast {#blank#}6{#/blank#} of Vancouver has some of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the world.

    However, this was not easy. When they first arrived in Gombe in 1960, it was unusual for a woman to live in the froest. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} after her mother came to help her for the first few months {#blank#}8{#/blank#} she allowed to begin her project. Her work changed the way people think about chimps. For example, one important thing she discovered was that chimps hunt and eat meat. Until then everyone {#blank#}9{#/blank#} thought chimps ate only fruit and nuts. She also discovered how chimps communicate with each other, and her study of their body language helped her {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their social system.

    Many of my friends like fall and take it as their favorite season. Last weekend, I went outdoors and soon {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(find) a deeper appreciation for this season.

    The change of leaf colors is a common reason given {#blank#}2{#/blank#}the love of fall. Each tree reacts{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(different) to the change of the season. Some shed their leaves in hopes of reproducing; however, other {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(tree) remain green for as long as possible to gain additional energy from the sun to survive the winter. This effect {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(call) the flight-or-fight response.

    Fall is a time of{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(reflect) and preparation for the year ahead. I have found a meaning of fall for me. I'm {#blank#}7{#/blank#}18-year-old boy in the final year of high school and my life is a work in progress. There are times I want to give up, but then I look around me and realize life keeps {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(move).The natural cycle of life is beautiful and doesn't stop growing so I have to learn to keep up.

The meaning of fall is different for each person. I encourage you {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(go) out to follow some path or sidewalk and discover {#blank#}10{#/blank#}fall means to you.

    When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be very difficult to let go of your anger. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} forgiveness is possible-and it can be surprisingly beneficial to your physical and mental health. So far, research has shown that people who forgive can have more energy and {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(good) sleep.

    So when someone has hurt you, cool down first. Take a couple of {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(breath) and think of something that {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(give) you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love. Don't wait for {#blank#}5{#/blank#} apology. “Many times the person who hurts you may never think of {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(apologize),” says Dr. Frederic Luskin, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} wrote the book Forgive for Good. “They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don't see things the same way. So if you wait for people {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(say) sorry, you could be waiting a very long time.” Next keep in mind that forgiveness does not {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(necessary) mean accepting the action of the person who upsets you. Instead, learn to look for the love,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(beautiful) and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person's position. You may realize that he or she was acting out of carelessness.

    A boy trembled in the cold winter, wrapping his arms wound {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(he) on a bus stop bench. He wasn't wearing warm clothes and the temperature was -10℃.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} a heartbreaking scene it was! But the good deeds of the ordinary people {#blank#}3{#/blank#}witnessed the 11-year-old Johannes were both joyous and inspiring. A woman, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (sit) next to the boy, discovered he was on a school trip and was told to meet his teacher at the bus stop. She {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (selfless) covered his shoulders with her own coat.{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (late), another woman at first gave him her scarf, and then wrapped him in her large jacket. Throughout the day, more and more people offered Johannes their gloves and even the coats off their backs.

    Actually, it was a {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(hide) camera experiment by Norwegian charity SOS Children's Village as part of their winter campaign to collect {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (donate) to help Syrian children get through the winter. Synne Ronning, the information head of the organization, also {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（note） that the child was a volunteer who was never {#blank#}10{#/blank#}any danger during the filming.

    I never thought that little help would turn out to be the most satisfying thing I have ever done. He was tired, in pain and struggling to climb farther. With a broad smile, he asked me {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I could help him with some money. He was paralyzed(残疾)in both {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(leg) and was raising money for an operation.     A year later, I got a call from him. What he said was {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (move). He said the operation was successful and he had got a job. He wanted to return my money so that I wouldn't feel {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (cheat) and would continue to help people who are {#blank#}8{#/blank#} need in the future. I don't know whether he guessed my facial expression that day, but tears {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (run) down my face. That day I promised him I would continue to help people when I got an opportunity—small {#blank#}10{#/blank#} big.
