Last Monday, some Australian students came to our school for a visit. They (show) to visit various optional courses. One of our teachers taught them something about calligraphy. As a volunteer, I explained  English when necessary. They were impressed by the amazing Chinese art, and some of them even tried writing some characters successfully.  (remember) the enjoyable moment, we took photos together and this was really a memorable and rewarding event.

It was New Year's night. An aged man raised his mournful eyes towards the deep blue sky,{#blank#}1{#/blank#} the stars were floating like white flowers on the surface of a clear calm lake.He had already passed sixty of the stages{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(lead) to his certain goal—the tomb, and he had brought from his journey nothing but mistakes and regret.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (fortune),now his health was poor, his mind empty, his heart sorrowful, and his old age short of comforts. The days of his youth appeared like dreams before him,and he recalled the serious moment when his father placed him at the entrance of the two roads—{#blank#}4{#/blank#}leading to a peaceful, sunny place, covered with beautiful flowers, fresh fruits;the other leading to a deep, dark cave,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} was endless, where poison flowed instead of water and where devils and poisonous snakes crawled.
On this New Year's night,he remembered his friends in his childhood,with{#blank#}6{#/blank#}he entered on life together with him.But they {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(make) their way to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(succeed) and were now honored and happy.
The clock in the church tower {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (strike) and the sound made him remember his parents' early love for him. They had taught him and prayed to God for his good. But he chose the wrong way.His darkened eyes were full of tears, and with a desperate effort,he burst out a cry:"Come back,my early days,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}I will lead a new life!"

Many couples are quite puzzled about this question. How can lovers be devoted to each other for long? Actually, they just complain about their marriage to their partners all the time,not{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(know) how to deal with the marriage crisis.

“Before we were{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(marry),my husband was a caring man,“a wife once told me.“It seemed that he would love me till the end of the world.Since we got married,he{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(become) a lazy bone.He watches ball games more than he watches me.He has changed so much that I can{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(hard) bear him.”

“Very funny,”answered the husband.“But have you looked at yourself lately?Several years ago,you were very beautiful. Now you wear that old dress. If I've changed from{#blank#}5{#/blank#}energetic man to a lazy one, then you've changed yourself from a{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(beauty) lady to an ugly one.”This hurtful but childish{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(argue) shows how couples, instead of looking for love, may look for all the{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(fault) that his/her partner has in their daily life.

Honestly speaking, how we see our partners often depends more{#blank#}9{#/blank#}how we are than how they are.It is a way of seeing.Husbands and wives are not audience{#blank#}10{#/blank#}participant observers in each other's life.Remember that the law of lasting love is to look at your lover with love.

阅读下面短文,在空格处填入一个适当的词或者使用括号中词语的正确形式填空。

Everyone needs to know how to prevent a fire. It is also important to know what to do when it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (break) out.

Every year, over 11, 000 people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (kill) or injured in house fires. These fires could have been avoided. Smokers who are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (care) cause about 200 deaths and over 6, 000 fires. More than of those {#blank#}4{#/blank#} die in fires are poisoned or harmed by smoke.

If fire happens, do not attempt to fight the fire unless it is small. Try putting out a small fire with water. If {#blank#}5{#/blank#} fire has spread or if the flames are more than 20 inches high, shut the door on it. Warn everyone else in the building and tell them to get out. You should leave and dial 911 for the fire department.

Before {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (go) into a room, check the door. If the handle or the door is hot, do not open it! Instead, put clothing or a wet towel at the bottom of it to keep smoke out. If the door is not hot, open it {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (slow). If there is a rush of smoke heat, close it again and shout to warn {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (other) inside.

Now open the window and shout "Fire!". See whether you can drop safely to the ground. Use this {#blank#}9{#/blank#} your escape course if you can. If you are not on ground level, break your fall by pushing a mat out first. Lower yourself at arm's {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (long) before dropping. Once outside, stay out outside and make sure the fire department is called.
