Recently a new research has been reported. It said that many fathers of children experienced lots of injuries per year while playing with {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (they)children. Some fathers felt that it was the most dangerous thing of being a parent walking across the floor {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (cover)by toys. And some of them fell over because clothes or other things{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (throw)everywhere. Besides, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} third of fathers were knocked down by their young children when fighting with them and a quarter got hurt when playing football or climbing trees with them. In fact, one {#blank#}5{#/blank#} five young fathers picked up an injury when doing something that wasn't suitable for them.

    The research also found that some of the fathers who were  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (serious)injured had to take time off work. {#blank#}7{#/blank#},not all of them had medical insurance(保险)in place {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (prevent)the case that they were too ill to work. And they were more likely to face a situation {#blank#}9{#/blank#}their mobile phones and holiday bookings declined sharply during illness. So the fathers took much {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (press)from both the family and the work.

    Chengdu has dozens of new millionaires, Asia's biggest building, and fancy new hotels. But for tourists like me，pandas are its top {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(attract)．

    So it was a great honour to be invited backstage at the not－for－profit Panda Base, where ticket money helps pay for research. I {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(allow) to get up close to these cute animals at the 600－acre centre. From tomorrow, I will be their UK ambassador. But my connection with pandas goes back {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my days on a TV show in the mid－1980s， {#blank#}5{#/blank#} I was the first Western TV reporter {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(permit) to film a special unit caring for pandas rescued from starvation in the wild. My ambassadorial duties will include {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(introduce) British visitors to the 120－plus pandas at Chengdu and others at a research centre in the misty mountains of Bifengxia.

    On my recent visit，I held a lively three－month－old twin that had been rejected by {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(it) mother. The nursery team switches him every few {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(day) with his sister so that while one is being bottle－fed， {#blank#}10{#/blank#} other is with mum—she never suspects.

The Creator of Middle Earth

    John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, better known as J. R. R. Tolkien, was born in 1892 in South Africa. His parents had moved there looking for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} better job for his father. Three years {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(late), his mother took him on a trip to England to visit family. While they were away, they received terrible news that his father had died.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(grow) up without a father must have been difficult for Tolkien. Worse still, when he was only twelve years old, his mother also passed away. As a child, he had a great passion for language and in 1908, he went to Oxford University {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(study) languages and literature. In 1915, he joined the army and fought in the battle against the Germans. But soon, he became too ill to fight and returned {#blank#}5{#/blank#} England the following year. He didn't have a {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(satisfy) childhood himself, so around in 1933, he spent much time telling his children fantasy {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(story) of a hobbit (霍比特人) called Bilbo. He first put it in writing in 1936, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} turned out to be a surprising hit. The publisher asked him to write another. He did so and in 1948 published The Lord of the Rings, which {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(publish) in three volumes between 1954 and 1955.

    Tolkien, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(age) eighty­one, died in 1973.

    There was a young flower in the desert{#blank#}1{#/blank#}all was dry and sad looking... It was growing by itself,{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(enjoy) every day and saying to the sun, "{#blank#}3{#/blank#}shall I be grown up?" And the sun would say "Be{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(patience) ! Each time I touch you, you grow a little." She was so pleased,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}she would have a chance to bring beauty to this corner of sand. And this is all she wanted to do - bring a little bit of beauty to this world.

    The great spirit saw her, and was listening. - Indeed, he said... She should be living... So he reached down and touched her -- and gave her{#blank#}9{#/blank#}second life.

    Finally she grew up to be a beautiful flower. And this corner of the desert also became so beautiful because{#blank#}10{#/blank#}the little flower.

    For thousands of years, doctors {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (recognize) that childbirth can have a big effect on a woman's mind and body. Many women experience a time of sadness {#blank#}2{#/blank#} they give birth to a baby. This is called the baby blues, or postnatal depression.

    Doctors do not know the exact cause of postnatal depression. But they believe that an imbalance of brain chemicals {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) probably the cause.     Other brain chemicals also influence the way a person feels. They {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (physical) affect the brain. They make a person feel depressed. There are ways to fix and balance these brain chemicals.

    Some medicines, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (call) anti-depressants, can help to treat postnatal depression. But these medicines may cost a lot of money. And not all people can get them. However, there are ways that women may be able to treat and recover from these sicknesses without medicine.
