    You may ride on your bicycle in a rush to get to school every morning. You may also watch taxis crawl their way through traffic jams.

    No matter where you are, all big cities around the world have traffic jams these days. But although they all have their problems, many cities also have a type of transport (交通) that has become a cultural icon (圣像).

    In London, to avoid the traffic above ground, people use the "underground",also called the"tube". It brings a lot of convenience to its own residents and visitors and it is the pride of many Londoners. With 12 lines and 275 stations across the city, the tube, is normally the quickest and easiest way of getting around London. In London, you are never far from a tube station.

    They serve as a quick and easy way of getting across Manhattan, where the subway doesn't take you everywhere. Stopping a cab is easy; just stick out your arm like you do in any city. But, with over 12,000 yellow cabs in the Big Apple, they also cause traffic jams.

    Since 1873 when the first cable car started public service, the slow and noisy vehicle has been a symbol of San Francisco. Although once damaged by a serious earthquake and challenged by cars, it is never caught in traffic jams and provides better views than the subway.

    But there are no such symbols in Los Angeles. If you visit you'd better rent a car. It can take hours to get across town by bus. The subway covers just a small part of the city center. The light rail line only runs between the Long Beach hotel area and the city center. That's why Angelenos love their private cars more than any other people in the world.

The solution: Slow down. Put first things first{#blank#}4{#/blank#} And always remember, results are more important than the time it takes to achieve them.

And if you're trying to make a decision about something, don't waste all your time evaluating every last detail of every possible option. Choose something that you think will work, give it a shot, and keep pressing forward.

    Pick a goal and concentrate on it.

    Choose one goal to start something large enough that will give you a sense of achievement, while adjusting well to your core values.{#blank#}3{#/blank#} The more focused you are on one goal, the higher chance you have of success. If you perform many tasks at a time, you might never finish your projects because they will take far too long.

    Set a date for success. Identify when you hope to achieve your goal. Keep it realistic, while not giving you too much time. By setting a time limit, you are making the process more real.

    Stick to your goal.

    Failure can't be avoided when you take risks. By its very definition (定义), the desire to succeed means you are risking failure. Many people tend to give up far too early. Don't fail into this trap! Remember your goal earlier. Know it will happen. A failure is only you working out the details, and learning what works and what doesn't. Use failure.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Don't go to your hotels for meals. Walk around, even if in the streets closest to your hotel. Eat in local restaurants. Talk to the locals. Learn a few in the local language and use them. You will surely get a smile from the hotel staff and street sellers.

    Help preserve the sites. Most of the sites you visit may be visited by millions of people a year, so care needs to be taken to allow others to enjoy them as well. Some of these monuments are so old and fragile that they are sensitive to the touch of hands or bags and shows. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} This way, you don't encourage the use of those plastic bags that fly all over many sites.

Sports physicals are usually good for 1 year, though you probably will have to complete a sports form each season. If there are any changes in your health history, like a new injury or you notice new symptoms (症状), you may need to see the doctor before being allowed to play. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

However, why is service so rarely seen these days? {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Sure, living in this day and age does not leave us much time, and the last thing people want to do is more work. I'm too busy, there's too much work, or I don't have the time, " may run through your head when you hear the word service, but the truth is the benefits are worth the sacrifice. Gandhi once said that, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. " {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Some ideas of places you can serve are volunteer centers, nursing homes, boys and girls clubs, and so on. You can serve people as long as you want to.
