    In 1955, I got a train ticket to visit my relatives in Cleveland. On my return trip, I met {#blank#}1{#/blank#} handsome soldier. He asked if he could look at the train timetable {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was held in my hand and then if he could sit next to me so that we could chat. I agreed and invited him to share the lunch my aunt {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (pack) for me before leaving. We talked all the way. Researchers said that nowadays, children spend so much time swiping iPads or mobile phone screens {#blank#}2{#/blank#}they cannot hold a pencil properly. Children are not using{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(pencil), so they now lack the muscle{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (strong) in their hands to be able to write {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(proper). Researcher Dr Sally Payne said: “Children are not coming into school with the strong hand and the ability they{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (have)

    10 years ago. Children {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (come) into school are being given a pencil but are increasingly not able to hold it because they don't have the fundamental (基本的) movement skills.”

    The researchers said technology is changing the physical way that children write, draw or make things. Dr Payne explained why. She said: “It's{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(easy) to give a child an iPad than encourage them to do muscle-building play such as building blocks, cutting and sticking, or pulling toys and ropes. One expert said {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a child isn't strong enough to hold a pencil, perhaps their whole body is weak. She said it was better for children's physical development to climb trees {#blank#}10{#/blank#} to watch YouTube videos.

    People {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (live) in different countries made different kinds of words. Today there are about fifteen hundred {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in the world.     Qing Ming {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(associate) with Jie Zitui, who lived in Shanxi province in 600 B.C. Legend goes that Jie saved his starving lord's life by serving a piece of his own leg. Last year, my school {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (hold) a two-day research activity, guided by the slogan, "Exploring ceramic(陶瓷的)culture, traveling through ancient and modern times". The aim was to build students' {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (aware) of traditional culture.

    On our way to Jingdezhen, our guide introduced us to the basics of porcelain production. Our first stop was the Museum of Chinese Ceramics, which has {#blank#}4{#/blank#} unique and exquisite collection of porcelain made from materials such as clay(陶土)and stone.

    The guide told us of the great achievements in ceramics from ancient times until today. I listened carefully to everything. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (date) back to Neolithic(新石器时代)period, clay was used {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (make) pottery(陶器), which people used to carry water and food. Today, we still use porcelain but our pottery is far more beautiful than the products of those times.

    On the second day, the team leader took us to a small DI Y porcelain factory. Under the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (guide) of the teacher, we {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (give) some clay and the chance to design a piece of pottery. Although our efforts were not as beautiful as the articles in the museum, they w ere our own work. The two-day activity was very {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (enjoy) and meaningful. I learned a lot about porcelain and made an item {#blank#}10{#/blank#} my own. It meant a lot to me.
