     “When things are getting hard, a voice inside my head tells me that I can't achieve something. Then, there are other distractions, such as family or hobbies. The key is to concentrate. When I feel tense, it helps a lot to repeat words such as ‘calm', ‘peace' or ‘focus', either out loud or silently in my mind. It makes me feel more in control and increases my confidence. This is a habit that can become second nature quite easily and is a powerful psychological tool.”

    Make life plans and set goals

    You can't be successful without knowing where you are going. A life vision board, 10 years' plan and daily goals are useful tools of the successful people. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    Keep a "To-be" list for the future

    A "To-be" list is a great way to plan for the future. I want to be an elected official in the future. I want to be the CEO of a public company. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Unsuccessful people have no idea what they want to be. How can you achieve success if you don't know what you want to be?

    Study every day

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Whether you are reading a magazine or a good book. You can learn and become knowledgeable as you read. While watching television may be good entertainment, you will hardly get anything out of TV to help you become more successful.

    Want others to succeed

    When you are in an organization with a group of people, in order to be successful, you all have to be successful. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} If you wish for their failures, why even work with them at all?

    Accept responsibly for your failures

    Where there are ups, there are most always downs. Being successful persons means always having to accept responsibly for your failures. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} It just puts other people down and no good comes from it.

    Plants are very important living things. Life could not go on if there were no plants. This is because plants can make food from air, water and sunlight.

    Animals and man cannot make food from air, water and sunlight. Animals get their food by eating plants and other animals. Therefore animals and man need plants in order to live. This is why we find that there are so many plants around us. If you look carefully at the plants around you, you will find that there are two kinds of plants: flowering plants and non-flowering plants. Flowering plants can make seeds. The seeds are protected by the fruits. Some fruits have one seed, some have two, three or four, and some have many seeds. But a few fruits have no seeds at all. An example of a fruit without seeds is the banana fruit. Most non-flowering plants do not grow from seeds. They grow from spores (胚芽). Spores are very small. Some spores are so small and light that they can float in the air. We may say that spores are quite the same as seeds. When these spores are all on wet and shady places, they usually grow into new plants.

    When people ask me to name typical British dishes,I have,however,struggled to think of an answer.Yes,we do have our own national dishes.We do have fish and chips,and we have other dishes like roast dinner and shepherd's pie.But how much do we actually eat them?

    Fish and chips,is made up of battered（绞碎的）fish and chips,which is often accompanied by a thick paste（酱）. The majority of British people really do love this dish but it is not something that we would eat,say,on a weekly basis.It's also not usually something that we would cook at home.The British people associate this dish with the seaside and it's something that will usually be eaten on a day trip there,bought from a takeaway fish and chip shop.

    Another favourite British dish is roast dinner.This is made up of roast meat,usually chicken or beef, accompanied by roast vegetables and a meat sauce called gravy（肉汁）.It is usually eaten on a Sunday,perhaps for a special family dinner.It can either be cooked at home or eaten in a traditional pub.We also eat a more elaborate version of this for our Christmas dinner.

    Although we do have our traditional dishes,our diet has been greatly influenced by other countries.You can find a wide range of international foods in the supermarket or varieties of different restaurants on our high streets.A famous saying amongst British people is that our national dish is now chicken tikka masala,a dish which is heavily influenced by Indian cuisine.

    Don't expect to be served a traditional dish if you ever get invited for dinner at a British family's home!

    In Western society, especially in the English-speaking world, the chance for young people to see the other countries and experience life is considered important. Many young people, when they finish school at the age of 18, take a gap year before they go to university.

    Parents often want their children to grow up a little and see what the real world is like when they finish school. Although they are worried about their safety, many think that the advantages of independence and experience are worth the worries. Children are encouraged to be brave, independent and to explore the world on their own or with friends.

    Young people also want to experience freedom and see what life is like on the other side. This other side could be the other side of the world or just the other side of life. For example, if they have a rich life, they may want to see how people in poor areas live.

    A gap year after school is also an important chance for young people to spend time thinking about what they want to do with their lives. A little bit of growing up and experience will help them make their important career decisions, especially when they are unsure about what they want to study.

    Another reason for going straight after school is to get a break from studying before they start the next few years of university. So anywhere you travel in the world, you will meet young European people exploring the world.

    So much of the world has been travelled and explored. The young people are now looking for more worthy experiences. Some of them work as volunteers to do something for the country they are visiting. Many gap year volunteers are now spending a few months teaching English in Thailand, helping feed giant pandas in China or building a well(井) in a village in Africa.

    These young people's wish to explore the world is an expression of the values of the societies that they are part of. Both discovering the world and making a positive difference in it are important parts of the Western mind.

As a high school student {#blank#}1{#/blank#} loves literature, I thought I knew a lot about Hamlet. But my view changed when I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (see) The Revenge of Prince Zidan—the Peking Opera version of Hamlet.

It started {#blank#}3{#/blank#} an orchestra playing traditional Chinese instruments. I thought what I heard was a violin, but later I learned that it was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} instrument {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (call) jinghu. Then I saw the main {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (character) come on stage. The costumes and masks were {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (amaze). The music, exaggerated movements and mime helped get the meanings across to the audience. And the stage was also very simple. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (use) such techniques, the opera transformed a small stage into the whole universe {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (magic). The performance was so wonderful that everyone clapped their hands. So, my friend, if you want to see a show with explosive effect in person, The Revenge of Prince Zidan {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (tick) all the right boxes!
