At first, he put it in the basement(地下室).But he did not use it often. He seldom went into the basement.

Next, he moved it into his bedroom. But he still didn't use it very often. That's because he would only go into the bedroom when it was time for him to go to sleep.

Finally, he moved it into the living room. He put the machine next to the window. His wife thought maybe this would finally work. He could exercise and look outside at the beautiful garden at the same time.

After a week or so, his wife asked David how his exercise was going. He said, "Well, yes, I do a little more exercise these days. Every time I want to open the window, I have to walk around the exercise machine."

    Pandas-are very cute animals．In 1972,two pandas named Hsing-Hsing and Ling-Ling were sent from China to the United States as a gift．The National Zoo in Washington,D．C．became the pandas' new home．Americans fell in love with the two pandas right away．On the first day the two pandas came to the zoo，about 20,000 people visited them．People kept coming year after year．
    Hsing-Hsing and Ling-Ling were just cubs(幼崽)when they got to the United States．As the years passed，many hoped the pair would have cubs of their own．Ling-Ling gave birth several times．But none of the babies lived more than a few days．Each time a cub died，people all around the world felt sad．
    Both of the pandas lived to all old age．Ling-Ling was 23 when she died in 1992．Hsing-Hsing died in 1999 at the age of 28．But people never forgot them．Following Hsing-Hsing's death(死亡)，the zoo received lots of letters(信)from their fans．The letters showed their love for the pandas and told how much they missed them．

I've just got home after a three-week holiday in the USA with my family. It was really great, and I want to remember everything, so I'm putting it all in this diary.

Day 1

We arrived at New York airport and took a yellow taxi to our hotel. Everything here is so big! People call New York "The city that never sleeps." Another popular name for it is "The Big apple". Don't ask me why! The population (人口) is 7,323,000. And 34 million people visit New York every year!

Day 2

First we went to the Empire State Building (帝国大厦), which is 381 metres high. We went right up to the top and looked out across New York. It was a fantastic view! After lunch, we went shopping. Clothes and CDs are cheaper than in England, and the shops are really big!

Although it is a big city, you can't get lost because most of the streets have numbers. For example, if you're in Thirty-fourth Street, It's easy to find Thirty- ninth Street.

Day 3

It's Saturday. Central Park is the place to go at weekends. It's full of people walking, playing, jogging and skating. There are musicians, artists and tourists like me. There's a great zoo in the park with lots of interesting animals. In the evening we went to the cinema. The Americans call it a "movie theatre". Girls like me always like movies.
