Four Ways to Give Truly Meaningful Gifts
Buying someone you love a gift that expresses your truest feelings isn't always easy. But when you get it right, the joy they show is worth it.
Listen up.
While you may think it's a great idea to surprise someone by giving them something you think is meaningful, it's best to get them exactly what they have told you. For example, you heard friends say they wanted the newest bike but you bought them a gym membership instead. So get them what they've specially asked for.
In the spirit of showing love, we might go big. However, we may not be thinking of what really makes the person happy. You might think buying your father the latest TV is perfect, but then when you get it home, it lights up the living room like a stadium and is totally wrong for the space. So think smart.
Keep it open.
Many of us may consider giving cash impersonal(没人情味的). But this may save you some concern. The receiver can be allowed to choose whatever they want. In a recent survey of over 7,000 Black Friday shoppers, 39 percent said the receiver they were shopping for was “picky(挑剔)”.
Create an experience.
Visit websites where you can get the latest tickets for a play, buy a surf lesson, or even something unexpected like a flight lesson. For example, if your kids are into NASCAR, just imagine the look on their faces when you score them a ride at a race car driving school. So give them a time that they will remember to heart.
A. Ignore the size. B. Go for something big. C. Well, that was the wrong move. D .If possible, cut down the cost of the gifts. E. These are things that can create a lasting memory. F. Here's how to discover a gift your receiver will love. G. So save yourself the second guess and give cash instead. |
People who are confident really seem to be naturally outstanding and just seem to do everything with more styles than others. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} It is a habit that everyone can develop in life. Try these simple tips to drill and build up your confidence:
1). Admit your shortcomings calmly.
Do not try to flee from them or cover them. Face them bravely. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Fight against them every day until the day when you could break away and conquer them.
2). Dress for self-confidence.
{#blank#}3{#/blank#} And therefore pay attention to your dress, display your unique physical advantages and exhibit your best image. In addition, on formal occasions such as a business conference or a wedding ceremony, elegant dressing contributes to building your confidence.
3). {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
You should break your routine that deals with the work passively. Concentrate your efforts immediately on overcoming it, because it will make your restless mind at ease and build your self-confidence.
4). Be positive.
Feel pity neither on yourself nor on others. If you are used to hating and accusing yourself, others would tend to do that and believe it. Instead, you should speak positively about yourself, your progress, and your bright future. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
A. Don't judge a person by appearance. B. Build your confident vocabulary. C. Don't put off what you eventually have to do. D. Actually, true self-confidence is neither born nor acquired overnight. E. By doing so, you would encourage your growth in a positive direction. F. Then talk about them to a reliable mate, a friend or a family member. G. Your appearance could put you into embarrassment or increase your confidence. |
A. Ask your manager for permission to use his office. B. Here are a few steps you can take to stop wasting time at work. C. Instead, clean up your act and keep searching for ways to be more efficient. D. Give family members and close friends a way to reach you in an emergency. E. Conversations in the office are far more interesting than the work you are doing. F. A messy workplace can make you inefficient even when you're trying to do better. G. This way, you'll get that need out of your system so you can then go back to concentrating. |
We all have days, or even weeks, on the job when our productivity declines. But if your output has been steadily decreasing, it could be because you're wasting time rather than focusing on key tasks at hand. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}
Turn off your cellphone
If you're eager to stop wasting time at the office, silence your cellphone. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Turn on your phone only during breaks.
Organize your calendar
It's easy to waste time when you don't have a preset schedule outlining your days at work. But if you're guilty of not maximizing your time at the office, it'll help to create a daily calendar with blocks of time for various tasks.
Organize your space
{#blank#}3{#/blank#} If your desk is in a mess, carve out some time to get it organized. Throw away papers you don't need, file essential documents in some sort of order, and make your supplies more accessible.
Build in breaks
Sometimes we waste time at work by talking to colleagues, checking text messages, or surfing the internet because our minds need a break from the constant work. If that sounds like you, then you'd better schedule some breaks during the day but powering through otherwise. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
The more time you waste at work, the more your manager and peers are likely to take notice– and that's a good way to hurt your reputation and put your job at risk. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Doing so might save you from a busy night.
