There were some strange things happening in Tangshan {#blank#}1{#/blank#} July 28, 1976. For three days , water in the wells rose and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fall). The wells had deep cracks and a smelly gas came out of them. Pigs, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (chicken) and even mice became too nervous {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (live) as usual. At 3:42 am, everything began to shake. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} seemed that the world was at an end. One-third of the nation felt it. 

    A terribly huge crack cut across the city. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (immediate) the city lay in ruins. Two-thirds of the people died or were injured. Then {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (late) that afternoon, another big quake {#blank#}8{#/blank#} was almost as strong as the first one shook Tangshan. People began to wonder how long the disaster would last, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} not all hope was lost. Soldiers came to help those survivors. Slowly, the city began to {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（breath) again.

    When we plant a rose seed in the earth,we notice it is small,but we do not criticize it as "rootlees and stemless".We treat it as a seed, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} （give）it the water and nourishment required {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a seed.

    In Chinese culture, each year is related to{#blank#}1{#/blank#} Chinese animal according to the 12-year cycle. 2018 is an Earth Dog Year. People born during the year of dog {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (believe) to take after some of the animal's characteristics, such as loyalty, patience, and reliability.

    Zodiac(黄道) theory also relates to Chinese elemental theory, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}associates the 12 animals with one of five elements :metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. The five elements {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (combine) with the 12 zodiac signs produce a 60-year cycle. Zodiac animals have both fixed and non-fixed elements attached {#blank#}5{#/blank#} them. For example, the dog (as well as the dragon, ox, and goat) is always associated with the earth element. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the year of 2018 is considered an earth year according to the Chinese solar calendar, those born in 2018 are considered earth dogs, which carry characteristics like being communicative and responsible at work. Though dogs are{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(general) associated with earth, those born during the metal dog year are believed to be conservative and{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (caution)in nature. As Dogs are not good at communication, {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is difficult for them to convey their thoughts to others. Therefore, Dogs tend to leave others with the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (impress) that they have a stubborn personality, but they are indeed loyal to their families and friends.

    In the closing ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018  China put on {#blank#}1{#/blank#} eight-minute performance "See You in Beijing in 2022", {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (direct) by Zhang Yimou. The show centered on the talents of a team of 24 roller-skating {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (perform) from Beijing Sport University. Two of {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) dressed up as "Panda Captains" led the performance. Finally, the skaters travelled a path to draw the "Winter Dream" sign of the Olympic Winter dreams Beijing 2022.     To me, the most beautiful thing is the ocean. It is beautiful because it has a calming effect. When {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (listen) to the sound of the waves, I feel peaceful. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} the age of 10, I went to the beach for the first time. With my feet in the water, I felt totally relaxed, and the sound of the ocean really {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (comfort) me. From then on, I often dream of floating in the ocean, feeling carefree.
