Chinese oracle bone inscriptions (甲骨文) over 3,000 years old are now being widely used as emojis by young WeChat users, thanks to a person who made them{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(close) to people's life than before.

     “The ancient characters are not as cool and distant {#blank#}2{#/blank#}they are supposed to be,” said the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (create) Chen Nan. “In fact, they are cute and humorous, and they could totally serve our needs for online expression.”{#blank#}4{#/blank#}46-year-old professor of fine art at Tsinghua University has been working to make oracle bone inscriptions into emojis. For example, the character for “zui,”{#blank#}5{#/blank#} means “drunk” in English, was created {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(look) like a stumbling figure.

    Chen has also combined the ancient Chinese characters with cartoon figures. A cartoon video clip {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(feature) oracle bone inscriptions designed by him was viewed 31 million times and shared 140,000 times.

    Chen worked on the road of innovation 19 years ago. In 2016, the ancient typeface{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(include) into the font library under his efforts to let the ancient words walk into people's life. Now the library has as many as 3,500 characters,{#blank#}9{#/blank#}Chen's research on the project still continues, as he plans to extend the library to 7,000 characters. In the future, he will apply the ancient characters  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}education and development of games and apps.

    Though Chinese students form the largest international student group in New Zealand, the country only ranks the 7th on Chinese students' most {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (desire) overseas destination list. The size of the country prevents it {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (become) a hot study destination. But it draws students with its {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (safety) and multi-cultural environment.

    While it attracts mainly wealthy students, higher education in New Zealand is also affordable for many common Chinese families. Chinese students can get {#blank#}8{#/blank#} British-based education with the school fee being some of the lowest in the world. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} average, the school fee was about 25, 000 dollars per year, and the living costs were about 20, 000 dollars a year. Besides, students can do some part-time jobs. The money {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (earn) in those jobs is enough for them to travel around the country and enjoy its breath-taking scenery.

    Dario and his mother loved their new apartment {#blank#}1{#/blank#} living room was large enough for their piano. That night, the two of them sat side by side at the piano. They played jazz music {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (celebrate) their new home. The loud music filled the room and made them feel very happy. The next morning, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}, their happiness disappeared. Someone had left a note under their door during the night. One of their neighbors {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (write) to complain (抱怨) about the sound of the piano. Dario's mother asked the doorkeeper {#blank#}5{#/blank#} he knew anything about it. But he said 'no'. Later that morning, Dario suggested that they should hold a party at home and apologize {#blank#}6{#/blank#} their playing.

    They {#blank#}7{#/blank#} loved the idea. Over the next few days, they sent out {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (invite) and decorated the apartment with party lights. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (final), the day of the party arrived. The guests brought different presents. One woman even presented Dario with a book of piano music, which gave them a feeling of warmth. Dario apologized and was already looking forward to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (practice) the new music.

    Poetry is never far away from our daily lives. Many of us grew up reciting classic poems, learning to enjoy this beautiful art form that's able to use just a few lines {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(express) such rich meanings.

    The Chinese Shijing, which dates back to the Western Zhou Dynasty, has a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(long) history than the Homeric Epics(荷马史诗). Even today, classic poems {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(love) by a lot of people.

    To recognize the special {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(able) of poetry and get its creative spirit, World Poetry Day is held by the United Nations on March 21 each year to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression.

    The Chinese Poetry Congress(中国诗词大会) showing classic poetry is {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(extreme)popular. The competition saw over 100 hopeful participants taking part in {#blank#}6{#/blank#}number of challenges. The participants, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}ages range from 7 to 70, include students, farmers, teachers and foreign competitors with an interest {#blank#}8{#/blank#}Chinese literature.

    And even TV series involving poetry are very {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(success). For example, in The Legend of Zhenhuan, one of the drama's most moving songs was adapted from a poem {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (write)by Wen Tingyun of the Tang Dynasty.
