When I left for the United States to study. I had butterflies in my stomach. I was nervous because I was going to {#blank#}1{#/blank#} new place with new people and new customs.     It was a sad moment when I had to say goodbye to my family and friends.     At the start of every new year, it is very typical {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (make) new year's resolutions. However, do they really work?

    Personally, I don't think so. Firstly, it's always great to start the new year with a good {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (intend) and a positive attitude, as it can bring more hope and happiness. In fact, changes happen in small steps over time, so why not take a step back and think of something we can benefit {#blank#}6{#/blank#}?

    For instance, let's simply set some achievable goals: smile more at {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(strange), laugh at least {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (two) a day or write a positive thing that makes you happy, no matter {#blank#}9{#/blank#} simple they are. These small gestures are thought {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (be) effective to make you better on the inside and outside. So, let's take the pressure away and make a great effort to be a better me!

    Currently， both women and men {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(surround) by magazines and websites full of tips about dieting， exercise and fashion. Gone are the days {#blank#}2{#/blank#} all men had to think about wearing a nice suit to be smart and handsome. Things have changed.

    Now， a survey has suggested that 80% of men admit {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (be) unhappy about their body. The biggest body issues for {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (they) were beer bellies and lack of muscles. Some think it is because {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the pressure of influence of role models we see on TV and in magazines.     But Joe Warner，the former editor of Men's Fitness magazine， thinks the muscle­enhancing shirt is just {#blank#}8{#/blank#} trick. He thinks many people in the country are overweight and should accept they need to do more exercise {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(regular)．Exercise is always good. But we mustn't forget beauty is only skin deep. Character is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (important) than appearance.

    Every Thanksgiving my family and I, along with others, prepare and serve Thanksgiving meals for the people in our small mountain community. My husband and I also bring meals to the disabled.

    This Thanksgiving we did {#blank#}1{#/blank#} same. After delivering them to some individual apartments, we went to the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (centre) dining room. We put the boxes filled with Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and some other foods on the tables. People invited {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (we) to stay, and thanked us, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} we had other deliveries and had to leave. As we started to go out, I turned around and saw them all {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (watch) us. Then I asked, "Would anybody like a hug?" They lined up. There was so much {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (warm) in each hug.

    My eyes {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (fill) with tears and my heart with love. Now I visit now and then {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (chat) and, of course, hug. This year at my Thanksgiving delivery, when they line up {#blank#}9{#/blank#} their hugs, I am going to have them turn around and hug each other. These people have no family at Thanksgiving-- what could be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (good) for them than hugs!
