On a cold evening with snow floating in the air, I got {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (stick) on the road because of a flat tire(轮胎). I attempted {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (seek) help from the passing cars, but no one stopped. As I was about to give up hope, a man {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (drive) an old dirty car came to my aid. To be honest, I was scared when he first approached me. Eying him up and down, I thought to myself, “There is a very good chance {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he may rob me,” He seemed to have sensed my discomfort so he tried to ease my {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (anxious) by introducing himself. His act of kindness made me feel ashamed to have questioned his intentions. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} was really considerate of him to stop to help a perfect stranger like me, especially in such terrible weather. Thus, after the spare tire was fitted, I asked {#blank#}7{#/blank#} much I owed him. I wanted to pay him back. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (surprising), he did not take my offer but rather told me to pass the act of kindness forward and help more people {#blank#}9{#/blank#} need. As he said those words, I noticed him wearing a smile of contentment. Helping  others seemed a very {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（nature）thing to him. I witnessed the true beauty of human nature in him.

    What might life be like if you looked very different from others? Most of us are lucky to be born with "normal" faces.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}, the movie Wonder shows us that there is no such thing as being normal and that beauty is more than skin-deep.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(base) on a bestselling novel, the movie is about a boy named Auggie. He has a facial deformity (畸形) and has spent most of his life being home schooled. But as he enters middle school, his parents decide to send him to a private school. There, Auggie must deal with judgmental classmates and learn to accept{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(he) as he is.

    In the US, most kids{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(teach) that it is OK to be different. Most people in the US celebrate being unique.

    But some kids have difficulty{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(accept) uniqueness. It's easy to pick on someone who's different,{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(especial) if you have your own problems to deal with. This is another{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(center) theme from the movie—even the kids {#blank#}8{#/blank#}pick on Auggie have their own personal struggles.

    As Auggie's classmates get to know him better, they come to find that he's a nice kid {#blank#}9{#/blank#}a great sense of humor. They start to change their attitude toward him. In real life, it may take longer to see such changes happen. But if we give people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}chance, their hearts and minds may change in the end.

    Every year on the last weekend in August around 1.5 million people go to west London to take part in and enjoy one of the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (large) street parties in Europe, Notting Hill Carnival.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} a colorful group of dancers, a wide range of music and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} atmosphere of fun and celebration, the carnival is not to be missed. The roots of the carnival date back to 1833 {#blank#}4{#/blank#} slavery was abolished. In that year the former slaves in Trinidad, a British colony in the Caribbean, took to the streets in celebration of their own carnival party with music, dance and costumes. Soon it {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (develop) into an important tradition throughout the Caribbean. In 1959 the first carnival took place in the St Pancras area of London. For the next few years, the Carnival _{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(celebrate) in different parts of London until it{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(final) came to Notting Hill in 1964. In 2003 the Notting Hill Carnival received royal {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(approve),when it joined the parade {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(mark) the Queen's 50th year on the throne(王位). The Carnival shows the {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(culture) diversity of modern London.

    Once upon a time, there was a poor fisherman {#blank#}1{#/blank#} always dreamed of becoming rich. He wished to become {#blank#}2{#/blank#} millionaire, and so did his wife. He heard {#blank#}3{#/blank#} some old men before, that several ships {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (load) with diamonds and gold had sunk in the nearby seashore. Because of this, for a long time he kept searching that whole area for this treasure.

    One day, while he was sitting on the boat daydreaming, he suddenly felt that the fishing rod {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (weigh) down by a heavy object. He {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (excite) pulled hard at it, and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} he saw made him shout, "Wow! A big, shiny gold chain!" He pulled hard at the gold chain to get it into the boat, but {#blank#}8{#/blank#} seemed to be no end to it. His boat started to get overload and the sea water filled his boat. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}, he had begun dreaming of a big house, a big piece of land and {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (buy) horses and cows... He kept pulling at the chain while the boat kept sinking. The boat was finally submerged and he struggled to stay afloat. Unfortunately, his feet were caught in the gold chain and he drowned.
