Recently I failed an exam. However, after I came out of my teacher's office, I told myself, "Smile! It's not so serious."

    I smiled a big smile and it worked a little, really.

Everyone gets frustrated sometimes. I used to be always influenced by {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (press) and I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) often in low spirits. But one day I came {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a sentence in the Bible. "Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself, let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day." It suddenly struck me, "{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (worry) about a problem doesn't help. Why not just give a big smile and face up the trouble?"

    Now every time I want to cry, I remind myself that laughter is better than {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (tear) and anger. I{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (convince) that there's something magical about a smile. A smile helps me recover confidence and gives me the courage to move on.

    Remember, whenever {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (face) with a setback, whenever you've been treated {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (unfair),{#blank#}9{#/blank#} it takes is determination and you can feel happy again. Smile at life,{#blank#}10{#/blank#} it will shine on you.

    I lost my last debate in the recent National High School Academic Debate & Speech Tournament held in Shanghai. But instead of focusing on my {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(fail), I stopped to reflect on my experiences in the past few years {#blank#}2{#/blank#}a debater.

    In general, preparing for new debate topics usually {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (include) brainstorming arguments, researching a resolution（解决）, and doing debate practice. So if you spot a debating group, you might see us sitting together after school, or even all day at weekends, discussing arguments and researching evidence. You might also notice us arguing {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(fierce) anywhere we can.

    Not only are they supportive, but my debate friends also have similar passions and interests to mine. As we discuss debate topics, my fellow debaters and I can talk about anything, from {#blank#}5{#/blank#}best way of rehabilitating（改造）criminals to the negative points of free immigration policies. However, our discussions are more than just a way {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (practice) our debating skills. In my mind, they're helping us to become calm and consider {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(win) and solving real problems as well.

    To me, the debating community is a great place{#blank#}8{#/blank#}people help each other not only because they're interested in a higher cause, but because they care about how people from different {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(background) can lead better lives. I'm grateful to each of my debate friends and every single minute we get to spend together. Indeed, my high school life would be incomplete without them. So even though I {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(defeat) in my last debate, I'm still thankful for being part of my wonderful debate family.

    Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised a group of middle school students for their efforts in satellite design. He said he was pleased with their curiosity and bravery in {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (science) exploration. The president also wished the teachers and students in Bayi School {#blank#}2{#/blank#} happy new year.

    Xi made the praise in a letter {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (write) to the students in Beijing's Bayi School on Saturday. A small satellite designed and developed by them {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (send) into space last Wednesday at Taiyuan Satellite Launch (发射) Center {#blank#}5{#/blank#} it was designed to operate in orbit (轨道) for 180 days.

    Three months ago, Xi returned to his high school, to visit a laboratory and talk to teachers and students {#blank#}6{#/blank#} were designing the small satellite. The president said he was {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (extreme) glad to know that the satellite designed by the students would be launched and called on them to become {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (build) of the country. He hoped that the students would keep hungry for knowledge and develop {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (they) national spirit.

    One day, Nick invited his friends to supper. He was cooking some delicious food in the kitchen .Suddenly, he {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（find）that he had run out of salt. So Nick called to his son," Go to the Village and buy some salt, but pay a fair price for it: neither too much {#blank#}2{#/blank#} too little."

    His son looked surprised. "I can understand why I shouldn't pay too much, Father, but if I can pay less,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} not save a bit of money?"

    "That would be a very {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（reason）thing to do in a big city, but it could destroy a small village like ours," Nick said.

    Nick's guests,{#blank#}5{#/blank#} had heard their conversation, asked why they should not buy salt more cheaply if they could. Nick replied," The only reason a man would sell salt {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a lower price would be because he was desperate for money. And anyone who took advantage of that situation would be showing a lack of respect {#blank#}7{#/blank#}the sweat and struggle of the man who worked very hard to produce it."

    "But such a small thing couldn't {#blank#}8{#/blank#}（possible）destroy a village."

    "In the beginning, there was only {#blank#}9{#/blank#}very small amount of unfairness in the world, but everyone added a little ,always {#blank#}10{#/blank#}（think）that it was only small and not very important ,and look where we have ended up today."

    Some theme parks are not only amusing but also educational. Take the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) in Hawaii for example. It not only shows visitors the Polynesian way of life but also protects their skills{#blank#}1{#/blank#}culture for the future. Polynesian is the name{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(give) to the many groups of small islands that are spread about the Pacific Ocean.

You can learn{#blank#}7{#/blank#}they make clothes from bark(树皮) and how they climb very tall trees {#blank#}8{#/blank#}their bare feet or see{#blank#}9{#/blank#}kind of wedding ceremonies they have. They also tell you about their{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(society) customs and show you their cooking methods and their dances.
