 In recent years, more and more children in the US are interested in learning Chinese and learning about China. Seven-year-old Anna        {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  (study) Chinese for two years in the Confucius（孔子）Classroom in Washington Yuying Public Charter School. During class, Anna and the other children are interested in introducing themselves and teaching visitors how  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  (say) “hello”, “thank you” and “goodbye” in Chinese.

“When she grows up, she'll be able to communicate with Chinese. I hope she learns Chinese as early as possible,” says Anna's mother. “I   {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  (spend) more on this so that she can get a lifelong skill.”

 For the last hundred years, people of two villages in Sumatra have used a 30-metre-long bridge. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (make) of the roots（树根）of   two trees on each side of the river.

 Pakih Sohan, a teacher, began to build the bridge in 1890. Because of the river, many children  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}   (not, go) to school. It took Pakih Sohan more than 26 years to make the strong bridge. The bridge {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  (become) stronger and stronger because the roots grow all the time.

 On rainy days people should cross the bridge carefully. When it  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (rain), the bridge will become wet and slippery(滑的). More and more people travel there just to take some photos and try crossing it.

      My friends and I got to talking about the rules that we have in school.

      At our school, we have to w{#blank#}1{#/blank#}uniforms every day. The problem is that all my classmates think the uniforms a{#blank#}2{#/blank#}ugly. We think young people should look s{#blank#}3{#/blank#}and so we would like to wear our own clothes. Our teachers believe that if we did that, we would concentrate more on our clothes t{#blank#}4{#/blank#}our studies. We disagree. We would feel more comfortable and that is good for s{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. If we can't do that, we should be allowed to design our own uniforms. That would be a good way to keep both teachers and students h{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. It's also probably a good idea for parents to a{#blank#}7{#/blank#}teenagers to study in groups during the evening. I know we get noisy sometimes, b{#blank#}8{#/blank#}we can learn a lot from each other. We also think that vacations should be longer. At present they're too short. Longer vacations would g{#blank#}9{#/blank#}us time to do things like volunteering. Last summer I had an opportunity to volunteer at the local hospital, but I couldn't because I had to go back to school. It would be a good experience for me because I want to b{#blank#}10{#/blank#}a doctor when I grow up.

    Cao Wenxuan, Chinese children's fiction (小说) writer, w{#blank#}1{#/blank#} the Hans Christian Andersen Prize(安徒生奖)in April, 2016 , in Italy .

Cao Wenxuan was b{#blank#}2{#/blank#} in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province and he has t{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in Beijing University for over 30 years. He has w{#blank#}4{#/blank#} over 150 stories and novels. Some of them have been t{#blank#}5{#/blank#}into English, F{#blank#}6{#/blank#}, Japanese and so on. I like reading the novel n{#blank#}7{#/blank#} “Grass House”. It is m{#blank#}8{#/blank#}up of nine parts which touched us deeply. The novel tells us how groups of children bravely f{#blank#}9{#/blank#} the difficulties and challenges of life. When the reporter I{#blank#}10{#/blank#} him, Cao Wenxuan said , “All of my stories are set in China, all of them are Chinese stories, but at the same time, they are the stories of the humankind(全人类).”

    One day when Nasreddin was having a bath, he began to s{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . The bathroom was small with a stone floor. His song was very b{#blank#}2{#/blank#} , he thought.

    “Oh”,he said, “I sing very well. I will sing to o{#blank#}3{#/blank#} people, too, and maybe I'll be a famous s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} , and most people will want to hear me.”

    So after his bath Nasreddin went up onto the roof (屋顶) of the house and began to sing his song very l{#blank#}5{#/blank#}.

    A man was w{#blank#}6{#/blank#} in front of the house and he h{#blank#}7{#/blank#} Nasreddin, he said, “What are you doing? You are m{#blank#}8{#/blank#} a terrible noise. Nobody wants to hear it.”

    “Oh, you think so, don't you?” answered Nasreddin, “Well, I r{#blank#}9{#/blank#} sing very beautifully. Come to my bathroom and you'll hear h{#blank#}10{#/blank#} beautiful I can sing.”

    It's hard to find a true friend . For most of the time , you may think you can believe（相信）someone , later he may let you down（失望）.

    When you have some difficult times , a true friend will always be there for you . Through good times or{#blank#}1{#/blank#} times , they will try to help you and make you laugh . They will understand you{#blank#}2{#/blank#} you did something wrong . A friend will bring new and exciting things to your life and make your life more interesting .

    True friends will keep your secrets（秘密）and they believe you can also keep{#blank#}3{#/blank#} secrets . When you talk to a true friend , you don't have to worry{#blank#}4{#/blank#} what you may say . You can enjoy this freedom（自由）only with friends .

    However , Friendship is like a two-way street . To find a true friend , you may do the{#blank#}5{#/blank#} thing as your friend does , too . Help your friends when they have problems and share the good things{#blank#}6{#/blank#} them . Give them the same things they give to you . Sometimes friendship breaks very quickly if only one person is giving and trying to keep it .

    There is an old{#blank#}7{#/blank#} , “ Friendship makes the hearts of all the world together ” . You will{#blank#}8{#/blank#} that there is nothing better than having a true friend by your side to share life with .
